I have been Richards client for 20 years. So I am truly hoping to ease anyone's doubts about choosing him as your family law attorney. I have had two Custody battles and a divorce, with 2 move away orders. Well guess what, with the help of Dan Martin, minors counsel and Richard, we are starting our new chapter in the MidWest. Nothing about having to deal with Family Law is easy, but I can guarantee you, with Richard he is passionate about his clients, he will do what is best for you in your worst of times and by no means has he ever taken advantage of my vulnerability, he's only done what was best for me and my family. Being his client for all these years I consider Richard not only my friend, but he's a part of my family. And I wholeheartedly mean that. We have been laughing, crying, yelling at each other, but all in all, I couldn't have done this without him and to top it off, all of this was during Covid and Virtual hearings. First and foremost, I'm sorry I'm such a pain Richard and secondly, THANK YOU FROM ME AND ALL 3 OF ME BOYS! To all who wrote nasty reviews, I truly hope my 20 years as his client Trumps your negativity. read more

Richard G Prantil - Two brothers we fought to keep together with Richards help - Divorce & Family Law Near Me - San Diego, California

Mr. Prantil requested that my review be removed, and it was because there "wasn't enough detail." Luckily, I am more than happy to share more details about my experience with him. In all of my years of practice, Mr. Prantil is the most unprofessional attorney that I have ever come across. He briefly represented a client who was the respondent in one of my cases. He called me one day and began drilling me with extremely aggressive, leading questions. He was treating me as if I were being cross-examined. It was completely uncalled for. Note to potential clients: you don't want an attorney who cannot work well with other attorneys. After his aggressive rampage, I attempted to ask him a question and he interrupted me, saying there was nothing more to discuss. He then hung up on me, but not before letting his client give me a nice little passive aggressive comment. I immediately called the law firm back and left a note with the receptionist that the call with Mr. Prantil was extremely unprofessional and that I do not tolerate being hung up on. Afterwards, I looked him up on the state bar's website. To no one's surprise, he has been disciplined twice and suspended once. If you're looking for an attorney, go elsewhere. This man has serious issues and so does your case if you hire him. read more

Great experience, help me with my case, very professional and he made the process easy and smooth. Thank you Richard. read more

He is one arrogant person without ethics. He is always unprepared. He signed and typed a court order document that seemed to be typed by a lunatic because nothing makes sense. He used the words bitch and whore within this document then he preached about the gospel within his response. I'm just blown away at the fact people still hire his incompetence. Not to mention he charged his client $1500 and he couldn't even get a restraining order on the other party. Even the judge shut him down at some point during this hearing due to his arrogant behavior. Good luck if you hire this person be ready to pay and not get the results you want. read more

I retained Richard as my attorney and I am extremely pleased with his work so far. Very organized and it is clear to me that he is very experienced. He calls me to remind me of what I need to do to help him with my case and any time I have had a question he is always available or returns my call in a timely manner. I cant wait to put this case behind me, but in the meanwhile I am very happy to have Richard on my side. Thanks! read more

Rich is a great lawyer who will give you great support and he's got excellent knowledge and guidance. He's been greatly helped me already and I have great confidence in a positive result for me with my case. He requires good collaboration and information sharing, which has helped me to be on top of my case. I can highly recommend him! read more

This guy who claims to be an attorney will leave you in the dark while padding his wallet with nothing but lies. Trust and believe that you would be better off going to a local dive bar and grabbing the first barstool attorney. In the almost 2 years of dealing with "Dick" who happen to be my Ex's lawyer and was not present at court on almost every court date set that the final one was being told by the judge that she should just sanction him with all the time that was wasted in myself taking days off of work to be present. He then bellowed out just about every excuse he could muster. Needless to say he is not going to bat for you because his bat is broken like his ethics. He threatened me in the beginning cause I wouldn't sign off on his terms for custody and visitation as well as child support. He said and I quote "Your making a big mistake and now I'm forced to come after you for everything as well as all my fees and trust me they won't be cheap." Long story short my. ex and I attended mediation and came to our own agreement and as for "Dick".....He was paid for all the work he did which ended up being NOTHING!!! Save yourself not only money but your sanity and "swipe left!" read more

I retained Richard when I was having custody issues with my daughter. He was very professional and proficient at all times. He made sure I understood all the paperwork and always ensured all my questions were answered. With his help I was able to get all issues resolved in a fairly timely manner given everything going on with Covid. Thank you Richard for all your help! read more

Truly the WORST lawyer I've ever met. As stated in another review he will NOT return phone calls or emails, but will MASSIVELY over charged for routine filings. I do plan on filing a complaint with the CA bar, and his conduct appears to me to be in line with his previous disciplinary action for Financial misconduct, and subsequent suspension from practicing Law. I feel it would've been thousands of dollars cheaper, and more efficiently completed had I asked any Freeway Exit sign holder to go to the self-help Law Library to file the divorce papers. Oh...there was not a contested item...we went to the lawyer together!!!...so Mr. Law Wizard had next to no paperwork to file. You could do 1000% better by picking any lawyer on a bus stop bench seat advertisement.... read more

I met and hired this man 3 yrs ago. I have really got to see his character in action. This man is a happy family man, professional, a child advocate who's morals and values are HONESTY, INTEGRITY and doing the right thing. He's a hands on active parent and husband to wife for over 25 years. He's a San Diego native. I found him through a friend who hired him and he has helped our entire family through custody, family issues in reference to: a relatives trust, and has made a sometimes hopeless situation livable and given us hope without screwing us financially. His professionalism is combined with a warm, approachable manner is disarming and comforting- gives me secure trust he has my back 1000%.we have 2 current cases , he is our lawyer and I'm so grateful to have found him. We are so grateful. read more

Richard is a family friend and someone I never thought I'd need to hire as my attorney. When that day came I was impressed by 3 things; 1. His intelligence mixed with humor 2. The clear way he communicates with the court because being respected by a judge means everything to how you're handled in the court room 3. The fact that he's in private practice without big named partners, high rent or expensive fees. Richard is still my friend today, years after my divorce has been final and I expect that we will be friends for life! In closing, please use an attorney for your divorce. Even if it's mutually agreed upon, a simple estate or your assets aren't that large. I haven't met a single person who's been happy in the years following a divorce when they used a mediator thinking they were less expensive or better. That's simply not the case. Richard is 100% better! read more

Richard Prantil has been my life saver. He was the best decision I made for an attorney. People thought my case couldn't be won. Even other attorney's thought my case was a lost cause. Richard has so much knowledge on family law. That is why I continue to use him. He is a lawyer who genuinely cares. He seems like family to me now. It is because of this man that I have a court order that allows me to spend time with my daughter from my ex girlfriend. Richard keeps up on new laws, and knows the old ones like the back of his hand. He is not a swindler just trying to get money. I would recommend Richard Prantil if you have a family court issue. read more

Mr. Prantil is an extremely knowledgable attorney and a highly respected figure in the courtroom among his peers. He is trustworthy and very thorough, but more importantly, he is a HUGE child advocate. His sense of humor and smile helped ease the stress and tension I felt while preparing for my day in Family court. I highly recommend you give Mr. Prantil a call. read more

I was looking for a great attorney and Mr Prantil came highly recommended from a family member as well as a friend who is an attorney. I am extremely with everything he has been able to accomplish. It is obvious that he is very knowledgeable, professional, and has made an otherwise very stressful experience much much more tolerable. I have mentioned his name to other attorneys that I come across and they all have high praise for Mr. Prantil. While I hope that you never have to hire a lawyer, in case you do, do yourself a favor and hire Richard. read more

Sad to see he is still in practice. He is a crook and robbed my ex. Always showed up not prepared, brought stuff to court he never should have in an attempt to bill more hours. It was fun to see he get slapped down by judge. Don't hire him. Your 6th grader could do a better job. Mal practice all the way and I am saying this because it was sad to see this with ex and yes it cost me lots of money as well. read more

Where do I begin? You will do 99.9% of the work that you hired him to do. If the other party has an attorney, he will run away with his tail in between his legs. Not only will he run away, but he will also call the other parties attorney to work out a stipulation behind your back. He will butter you up with his arrogance and overconfidence before your court date, but none of that is present on the actual day of court when it is needed most. He is unprofessional and a liar. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this scumbag. We trusted him hoping he would ultimately give my son a better chance in his younger years and he didn't even try. DO NOT place your future in his hands. You are better representing yourself in court! read more

He is the best family law attorney I have ever met. I had a horrible attorney before him, but when I switched to him things turned around completely. He is very knowledgeable and is a huge advocate about the kids. He is always thinking about what is in the best interest of the kids. He is very personable and is very well liked in the court room from other attorneys. He is very funny and easy to deal with on a personal level. Completely the best attorney to deal with than any others I have met or talked to. I feel completely at ease and not stressed when talking to him. Would recommend him to anyone and would never turn to another attorney. He is very good about returning emails and phone calls very quickly. He gives all the details a person needs and makes you feel real ready for a court hearing. He does all the work fo r you and does not charge an outrageous price. He is definitely worth the money. read more

the other reviews are most definitely false reviews. he is the worst choice. took our money and did nothing. missed court dates, doesn't return calls, we had to write up all of our own paperwork. very disappointed to say the least. we had to fire him after a year and a half of not getting into court because of his errors. read more
