On our menu was:orange chicken(THEE BEST-EST), chicken fried rice(it was so,so,so),chinese dougnuts(YUCKIE8P),egg rolls(too greasy,so couldn't finish'em),chinese chicken noodle soup(VERY different, but edible and it had chicken, lomein noodles and green onions with a light brown broth), and a bannana/coconut smoothie(YUUUUUCKIE). This is a great take out place that delivers. Thinly sliced beef and chicken and I love the pea pods. The delivery drivers are always very nice (with the exception of the one girl who is a low talker and always asks me for a pen) , deliver the food on time, and the food is hot. For a simple carry out place this food is actually pretty good. It is not a fancy dine in Chinese Restaurant (I don't know what people are expecting) but they got the job done by providing a variety of the traditional Chinese food options. The soups, especially the egg drop and hot and sour are exceptionally good. I have always gotten them hot and fresh. Its incredibly hard to find a descent Chinese soup that isn't watered down and at Rice Garden I have not experienced that. Try the Almond cookies for a special treat. Overall, a great place for a quick meal that's reasonably priced. read more

I use to really like this place and have excused some of the attitude from some of the workers here because there is one chic that works there is pretty cool. But as of today they will know longer receive any more of money because of the attitude from the one short girl there with glasses who is so extremely rude and keeps rushing me as I try and place my order. What places like this fail to realize is that NOBODY has to except this type of behavior and especially not over no damn rice. I would not recommend this place to my enemy I would take my business elsewhere or better yet cook my own damn rice. If I could I would give them -0 stars. read more

Today shall be my last day ordering from Rice Garden. I just placed an order for delivery and the woman was extremely rude and had absolutely no patience. I ordered to lunch specials which are pretty much about 8 dollars a piece after tax and the woman tells me my total would be over 34 dollars?? So I asked her to please read me the order back and she pretty much tried to charge me for everything separately although I asked for the lunch special which is nothing but the entree and rice. Sooo after about ten minutes of her antagonizing me I asked her to change the order to what I WANTED and she proceeds to just give me another total and hangs up in my face as I was still speaking. A while back this restaurant was great but now I'll have to leave it right where it's at. Soooo if I were looking for some great Chinese Food with very nice and sincere individuals I'd head over to New Wok in Markham, Il. Never any problems with them and their customer service is superb!! Bye bye Rice Garden. Maybe you guys need new staff or new management but the route you're going now you won't be open for long. read more

I had the Singapore Noodle dish which I ordered extra spicy. That was apparently no problem at all. The food came fast and although they didn't say much, they were not rude nor unkind. I think some of the reviews below are entirely unjustified but I'll have to return again to make sure they are as good as they were on my first visit which was today on the recommendation from a friend. This was THE best Singapore Noodle dish I've ever had. It was popping with flavor and was spicy as ordered. The shrimp were large and popping fresh and the portion size was quite large. I wanted to go back in and let them know how much I enjoyed it which I never do unless the restaurant has really impressed me. However, I was in a rush so I figured I'd review it instead. I'd give it five stars but having been here only once, I err on the side of caution. Once I go back, which will be soon enough, I'll adjust up or down as I see fit. In my opinion, based entirely on the recommendation and the one visit, this was one of the best Chinese dishes I've ever tried and I've ben to literally hundreds of Chinese restaurants. read more

We order from here often. In my opinion the food is average. The egg rolls are oily, the portions are small, the fried rice is often to oily but the General Tso is good. Unfortunately the service is HORRIBLE!!! My typical order would include 3 main dishes and a few side items for my family of 5. With out fail, we get two sweet and sour sauces and two soy sauces. When I request more I get a cold hard look of frustration. When placing an order by phone the person is usually rude. The only reason I continue to give them my business is because it is closer than the other similar location in the area and their service was not always this way. The memories of decent service are wearing thin. Once I've tired of dealing with the poor service I will travel whatever necessary distance to spend my money elsewhere. My sister was the reason I tried this place she raved about it. So I ordered a typical beef and broccoli lunch special it was approximately $7.44. She said 10 minutes it was done in 3. I thought AWESOME fast service. I got home and when I tell you my egg roll embodied the definition of a grease stick I am not joking. It's like someone took the egg roll dipped it in a bucket of grease and put it in the bag I tried wrapping it in paper towel to remove excess grease and needed another paper towel! I bit into it just to try it (I know what you're thinking why would she try it and it was that greasy? WELL I WAS HUNGRY AND WASNT DRIVING BACK TO EXCHANGE AN EGGROLL) It was nasty as expected I eventually didn't finish it and threw it away. The beef and broccoli was basic. The rice they gave me was very old which is why it probably only took 3 minutes to throw something into a box. I'm assuming they don't make rice throughout the day they serve it from what they've made prior in the day. The meat is less chewy than other locations I've tried which is why I give it 2 stars, but the overall production and the way they serve it to you was basic and nothing special as I expected. read more

We order from here about once a month or so. Typically great food and customer service. Today, however, I ordered 3 entrees, and they screwed up 2 of them. When I called to inform them of the error, I was treated so rudely on the phone. I had hoped to perhaps get a credit on my next order, but because of the way I was treated, I went BACK up there to talk to the person who hung up on me. I was continued to be treated poorly upon my return. I was laughed at and my complaints seemed to be disregarded. I ended up getting my $$ back but not before I realized the man I was speaking with was wearing FLIP FLOPS in the kitchen. I shared with him that the health department would be interested to know about his footwear. I have never been treated so poorly as a customer and now have to question whether or not we will return. **UPDATE** I went in to speak with who I was told was the owner - Ashley - she knew about me from her staff and tried to argue with me about how the food is made. I let her know that the issue was no longer about the food, but about customer service. She apparently did not care about customer service and I let her know that she lost our business. Its unfortunate, but the food isn't that great and there is so much more competition that would be happy to take my money. To be clear, she did not seem to care one bit that I as a customer came in and complained about how I was treated by her staff. I honestly had thought (and hoped) that she would have AT LEAST apologized at how I was treated. Nope. Sorry Rice Garden. We will be taking our business elsewhere from here on out. The best chinese take out in the south 'burbs. We live in Orland where there are a variety of restaurants, but I work in Hazelcrest and order from here and take it home. Its very fresh...different dishes have distinctive tastes...not the same tasting sauce on everything...delivery is sssupppper fast ~ look out Jimmy Johns! Would recommend to anyone. read more

No stars I use to love their food but today everything in my mongolian beef was old and had a powdery taste. The lady that answered the phone when I called to let them know that I was not pleased with my food was very nasty . She hung up on me the first time I called and when I called backed she said she didn't have rime or want to talk to me. What kinda of service is that .
