They must do a good job enforcing consignment rules because I never see clothing or goods that are not in good condition. It's consignment so prices vary, but overall I am really impressed with the way consigners price here. Most prices are very fair and reasonable. The store color codes their tags and 1 color is 50% off and 1 is 75% off each week. Most of the workers are older ladies and they are all kind, friendly, and seem to enjoy their work there as volunteers. I love shopping at this place. It's a hidden gem and the proceeds go to a good cause!

Other items in a case are vintage Scouts items not for sale. Cornell's is a time capsule that must be experienced. When in Newark just before Thanksgiving my hotel recommended when I forgot my coat back home. It was a short walk from the Doubletree. The store is on the main drag. Upon entering your immediately taken back to another time period of the old general stores. The amount of inventory on the walls, on the tables, well literally every where you look. There is new, there is vintage new such as concert T shirts from the 60's & 70's. What is not there is an odor, the place has no old stinky smell that you may imagine. Plus some items that the owner would never sell on display such as Levi's jeans that date back to the company's start and probably worth tens of thousands. Mr. Cornell, the owner in his 70's has stories he will share if you have time about the family history and four generations of operation. The location was originally a stage coach stop, but Cornell's has their own history too! Like Fats Domino playing pool with the owners Father in the 1950's. They also have an antique juke box dating to the early 40's. The passion that Mr. Cornell brings to the business is what really stands out in my mind. He offers quality merchandise and is proud of the history dating back almost a hundred years. You cannot find another store in the country that compares. It would be impossible! In my opinion he should set up an online store. The items are just so unique and there would be demand nationwide. I walked out with a classic Woolrich red and black checkerd jacket that set me back $250 or so. Don't miss this store if your even within hours.

He spotted a Vizio 47" TV and got very interested. When I joined him there, I asked 'can I plug it in' to make sure this was working properly. The manager stated she did NOT have an outlet to use for this purpose.! But that we could take it home (28 miles away) and bring it back in 24 hours for a refund. I had never been to a thrift store that didn't allow you to plug in an electronic purchase! But my husband's excitement got the best of him and he dragged it home with us. It cost $149.99, not at all a thrift store bargain.... Needless to say, the TV is 'on its last legs', needs 6 tubes costing $20.00 each and he didn't drag it back for a refund. His 'fault' but my point is that this store is not run with the same honesty or service that we would expect from a charitable organization. Buyer coming HERE beware!!
