When i hired him I laid out $8000.00 for initial retainer. Then I never really spoke to him again. The only people you will ever see or talk to are his paralegals. After a couple of months waiting to get to a trial his office calls and says we are out of money and need another $8000.00 retainer! Unless you have money to burn, stay away from this guy. His reputation is based on old merits and he is not the pit bull attorney he supposedly once was. This is all presuming you are paying for your own attorney btw. If you are the party looking to take your soon to be ex to the cleaners and are planning on them paying for everything, including your attorney fees, you can disregard. Over 30 years of marriage and with both college and minor children and I stay at home spouse for a few years, there is so much riding on my divorce outcome for the rest of my life. I interviewed 8 different lawyers. Mr. Cario is the ONLY one who mentioned how alimony had recently changed and I would be looking at paying the tax on alimony payments. That is a huge factor and no one else mentioned it! He asked what I wanted as the outcome: % of custody, house, retirement plan, and other things. He presented me with a brief review of a balanced outcome that might be in my best interest, with options based on what we had just discussed. Of course, he explained if he represented me, this would all be adjusted as information was provided with possible outcomes. He also clarified he takes care of the digging into the details because that is what he is paid for. The entire team at his firm is on top of everything. He also called me from his cell phone when I had a very urgent issue, while he was away dealing with just as serious of an issue for his family. When I apologized for taking him away from his issue, he told me not to worry. I already knew I had made the right decision, that just reinforced it. My outcome was more than I ever hoped for when talking to friends and family who have gone through a divorce before. My only advice for someone looking for a lawyer besides choosing Mr. Cario, do what they ask and provide what they need from you in the time period they recommend. He…read moreexplained that unfortunately Personal Injury Protection is capped at $50,000 in Florida unless you buy UNDERINSURED Motorist Protection, which I didn't have. Meanwhile, Bayfront Hospital Brooksville had charged me $54,000 for 3 hours in the ER, plus there were bills for the MRIs, the chiropractic care, Physical Therapy, and the Orthopedic Specialist. In short, I was going to be in debt $40,000 because an irresponsible driver wrecked my car and gave me significant spinal injuries! What Joe Lowman did for me was negotiate with the hospital to take $38,000 off my bill for financial hardship; and then negotiate discounts for all of the bills. Meanwhile, I couldn't even stand up for 1 hour. Joe hooked me up with the right doctors to treat me and get me started on Physical Therapy. It's been 4 months and I am swimming and strengthening my core muscles. I can't thank Joe and his Assistant Jennifer enough for getting all the bills paid and still leaving me enough money to take 6 months off work so I can concentrate on getting well. They were available to me at all times via text messaging or I could go into the office, if I was able to. Joe Lowman is good people and he deserves 25 stars.
