My wife and I eat here almost every Wednesday for lunch, for years! Rey's by far, is the best Tex-Mex food in Stephenville! Fajitas on the lunch is the best deal! The Chicken Enchiladas on the dinner Menu are the best I have ever had. My wife enjoys their crispy tacos and the chalupas. The chips and salsa are definitely made in the restaurant, can very in heat and crispness, but all original and great! Came here because of the reviews on trip advisor and yelp! Queso is called cheese dip here; really! Tortillas both flower and corn microwaved! Hot sauce from a can! If you want to enjoy the smell of an out house, sit at either of the 3 tables or booths near the KITCHEN!!! We almost walked across the street to Fuzzys Taco for better quality food, just too tired to do so after a hard days work. read more

10 table place. Small, rustic look, cute and pretty clean. Took a while to get seated and our order taken. They seemed short handed. They ran outta sweet tea, but got us some shortly. The young man waiting on us seems to be very caring and trying his hardest. We had to ask for napkins. The food is really good. Good portion, fresh, little heavy on the cheese for my taste. The Fourth of July at 2 pm is not an ideal time to visit a small town and find a restaurant open. Luckily, they were open! They had half the seating area closed due to few patrons. The wait staff was extremely friendly and made suggestions on what we should order. The service was really good and we never ran out of ice cold water! The food was better than I expected. Although very Tex-Mex in flavor, the cheese onion enchiladas surprised me. I asked for the red sauce. It had chunky vegetables in it and had great flavor! Although it was less than $10, I felt like I should be paying more. Good food, and a good price. read more

I try to make a weekly pilgrimage to Rey's. I've never ordered anything except for fajitas, and they've never disappointed. Service is excellent and personal (for a local), and you'll find that the staff is friendly and helpful albeit spread a little thin during busy times. The salsa is the best in town, but is often inconsistent from batch to batch. While some see this as a detriment, I regard Reynaldo's salsa not too different from a fine wine. Each vintage has its own character, flavor, and complexity. Bring a 32 oz mason jar with you and grab a jar of salsa and some chips to take home. My wife and I sometimes find it easier to call in orders and pick them up on Friday and Saturday nights. (Just a tidbit of insider knowledge.) read more

My favorite Mexican Food place in Stephenville. As always I prefer the cheese enchiladas. The plate arrives hot and right out of the oven full of molten cheesy goodness. The sauce is mild and put together very well -- not made from a harsh chili powder. With rice and beans, this is a very filling plate and EXCELLENT value! The hot sauce is on point as well. A more hearty composition, bit on the runny side, but is great and not entirely too spicy. Only negatives food wise is the tortillas. Totally a 5-star place if they could just have some good old fashioned home made tortillas. Also, other reviews are correct about it being a small place. Kinda cramped, especially around lunch but it adds some character and is managable if you plan ahead and get there early. read more

As a girl from South Texas this is one of the best Mexican food stops in Stephenville! They always have great lunch deals, either the daily special or lunch special keeps your food cheap and good! Went here for a quick dinner and got sour cream chicken enchiladas. The flavor was okay, missing a little pizazz, but the amount of chicken inside of the enchiladas was really lacking! Half of one of mine was just sauce and tortilla. Other than that though, the chips and hot sauce are great, and the waiters and staff are very pleasant. I would go again and try a cheap lunch special or something, but next time I think I'll stick to my usual go-to Mexican restaurant If you're curious about the cost, it cost $22 dollars for two orders of 3 sour cream chicken enchiladas before tip! I may be biased having been here a countless number of times, but this is by far one of the best Mexican food restaurants out there. No other Tex Mex place can be superior to Reynaldo's enchiladas (especially beef) and chile rellenos, which pack in an amazing flavor. Their cheese tacos, a fav for that place, is also melt-in-your-mouth good. They have generously catered meals for me and my family on special occasions, and regular customers can get refills on salsa, which you can take home after your visit. How friendly are the servers? Not sure how this restaurant is rated so highly. I ordered the lunch fajita special at 12:30 pm. It certainly was not special. The fajita beef was served in large chunks of a very mealy and weird textured beef. This certainly was not the thin cross cut strips of skirt-steak or flank steak common in Texas. The beef tasted as if it was soaked in a salt brine or a tenderizer for hours, cooked in a pot before, and then thrown on the grill when ordered. The meat had the consistency like that of a dry pot roast. The plate was not hot when served and refried beans had an odd after taste that reminded me of a dirty iron kettle. The rice was uneventful and didn't much matter. The salsa served with the chips had a decent spice level, and it was decent in flavor. Again though, this salsa was nothing special. The chips were not fresh, not stale either, and not handmaid. The service is good. This place is Tex-Mex and has a limited menu. No fresh seafood, fruits, or anything other than basic Tex-Mex fair. Nothing seemed fresh other than the Pico de Gallo. The sever was courteous and professional. I'll skip this place any time I'm in town. read more

The only thing bad I have to say is that the space is way too small for the amount of business they get day to day. The best thing on the menu in my opinion is the Steak Rancharo (I belive it is called Rays Bisquet Ranchero on the menu). After searching for "best places in Stephenville to eat" - this place came up. 2 stars are being generous. If you can muster past the bugs flying around in the bathroom (not flies- but not sure what they were). The service was good, but the food left much to be desired. I had the pollo champignon, the chicken was very thin, but they tried to make it look thick by adding ALOT of cheese and sauce to the top. The rice was good, the beans were ok (I'm not much of a bean person). My husband had the fajita (combo) salad. (Ranch tasted like hidden valley kind- not really our thing, we prefer the authentic home style ranch). Very little meat, small portion on the salad- the meat was very thin much like my chicken. The salsa was good, but very watery. The salsa containers were very small as well and paired with big chips it was difficult to get a good hearty scoop. Overall, I would not return here personally; but I guess for a college town, i *may* be able to see how people might like this place....??? But, no, I cannot see that. read more

I was passing through stephenville tx and was in the mood for some authentic Mexican food and stumbled upon Reynaldo's and was glad I did. Friendly staff and really good hot flavorful food! I got the lunch special fajitas( beef and chicken) mix. The portions were plentiful and delicious. It came with rice, beans, onions, peppers, chips, salsa, dice tomato,diced onions and guacamole which were all fresh. Next time I'm in the area I will be making a stop at Reynaldo's for sure! I was so disappointed in this place. My wife and I just moved to Stephenville and after asking around about Mexican food all signs pointed to Reynoldos. When we got there we didn't know whether to sit or wait to be seated. We waited 16 minutes before we saw anyone who worked there. After being seated it took another 20 minutes to place our order. Did I mention at the at that time there were at least 4 visable staff members and one other small family dining. One of them texting while filling drinks. Finally the food arrived. It was honestly the worst thing I've ever eaten. I've never had a chimichanga that tasted identical to scrambled eggs. I honestly wish I was making this up and I hope it was a one time deal as far as bad experiences are concerned. I've read all the great reviews and everyone in the city I've spoke with has really talked this place up but it just wasn't for us. We will not be back. Service- 1-5 Food- 2-5 Price/Quality- 2-5 I really hate talking bad about restaurants when you know they are trying. Best TexMex in Stephenville, hands down, and my favorite within a hundred mile radius. Salsa has a nice kick and tastes so good it's hard to stop eating! They have excellent beef enchiladas and tacos. My dad loves their chicken enchiladas. Servers are always friendly. This is a small establishment with only a few employees, which gives it a home-style feel, and sometimes it gets packed. Even when they're super busy, they're always still very friendly and the food comes out quickly. Highly recommended! read more
