The iced coffee was good, but there was something called Pan de boca- it was amazing! My yo didn't want to share it with me after a bite. What a lovely local coffee shop! I wish this coffee shop was closer to home, but maybe it's a good thing for my wallet that it's not. The shop itself is very cozy and has a fun, youthful ambiance with small tables/chairs for pairs to sit down and chat. The menu is full of classic and seasonal coffee options. My friend ordered a dirty chai latte and we were surprised at the little latte art they did on top! I was also surprised they had affogato on the menu - espresso and ice cream are simply two of my favorite things. The employees are extremely nice and very helpful, recommending items of the menu. Swung by here on a late Sunday morning to finally try out their coffee, I was really excited based on some photos I had seen. The layout of the store is a bit compact towards the bar area where you place your order, there were also no seats available, which was fine. They do some sort of reservation system which would be helpful if you're planning to stay a while or meet with friends. I opted for a decaf iced vanilla coffee and my partner ordered another iced drink, so we waited for a few minutes while our drinks were made. My partner reported that the bathroom was impeccably clean, so there's always a small comfort in knowing a business takes pride in all aspects of its location. We received our drinks, which came with a sealed plastic covering over it, which was definitely different. After popping our straws through, we sampled our own before switching off to try the other drink. I found mine to taste very similar to black iced tea and actually opted to take the other drink, happily risking a caffeine headache in order to avoid the taste of my original drink. My partner enjoyed both drinks, but we're definitely in disagreement on this one. read more

I think I found my new favorite brunch place in Ridgewood. The food was absolutely amazing and the presentation was beautiful. The Abuelita's french toast was a bit sweet for me, but I love their Alto Del Rey- with poached eggs, guacamole, and hollandaise sauce. The drinks were all great, my favorite would probably be the guava lemonade, very fruity and refreshing. There are a couple tables for dine in but gets taken pretty quickly. This is a cute little cafe with good food and coffee. And by little I mean tiny. My friend and I were lucky enough to come when the last spot was open. They had cheese and guava empanada so of course I had to order one. I would have preferred it in puff pastry form but theirs was pretty good. I forgot if I got a flat white or cortado, but it came in the cuties little skull cup which i loved. I also ordered the salmon toast with cream cheese. Mmm yum! Staff is very friendly, scones are great, rice pudding was not the best I've had, coffee for me personally was not strong enough for my preference. Place was very busy and dealing with a issue outside/ water main break on the street so I would give them another chance coffee wise. A quaint Colombian cafe tucked away on Chestnut Street, off of Ridgewood Avenue. A family owned business which was a refreshing change to the non corporate atmosphere. Natalie, welcomed us in where we met her family and got a glimpse into their culture through the stores decor, pictures gracing the walls and wonderful smell of coffee. The menu had a good variety of columbian coffee, pastries, breakfast and lunch items. My brother had the seasonal pumpkin latte and I ordered the smoked S'mores latte. The Barista, Will, gave a spectacular presentation preparing my S'mores latte which was delicious. I had to post the picture to see for yourself. Such a cute spot! The interior is beautifully decorated and gives off a cozy cafe vibe! The food was really good and they have a wide variety of dishes and drinks that I would definitely like to try eventually! Highly recommend making a reservation before going, and wouldn't suggest this spot for parties bigger than 4, but its small cozy space is part of the appeal. It's a very beautiful place to hang out. I had their special S'mores latte with chocolate walnut cookie. They infuse the coffee with smoke and it gives a very rich flavor to it. I went to Rey Sol yesterday for the second time, but it was my first time ordering food/sitting down (the first time I just picked up a coffee). I love how they put coffee ice cubes in the lattes, but yesterday I ordered a dirty chai latte which was just mediocre. It was not very creamy and lacked espresso flavor. I also got avocado toast (without the bacon) and it was pretty standard, but still very good and I would order it again. They give you one-use plastic utensils, which is understandable, but this made eating a very crusty bread quite difficult. The ambiance is nice, although it is a little bit cramped and crowded inside. The table I was sitting at was so small it couldn't fit the two plates and cups we had on it without half of it hanging over the edge. Overall had a good experience though and will likely go back! read more
