Coffee was okay but the sandwich was absolute gasss. I got the Cuban breakfast sandwich it was ready relatively quick, I just suggest ordering ahead bc it's a small space and waiting inside is difficult.

Cute local spot! This spot is one of our go to places when we want a lighter sandwich or a healthier alternative to deli food. They offer some nutritious options in addition to their regular sandwiches. I noticed they had expanded their menu, so I decided to give it another try. I usually visit in person, but this time, I opted for delivery. - Chopped cheese sandwich was delicious, though it felt more like a Philly cheesesteak with grilled onions and peppers. - Lamb sandwich was solid. - Chickpea salad was good, though the chickpeas were a bit mushy. - Chicken chipotle panini comes with a salad and has a nice balance of flavors. Special requests were accommodated well!

This place is a hidden neighborhood gem. Even though I live close by, I can't say that I frequent it very often. But I've enjoyed just about everything I've tried. My favorite thing here is their breakfast Cuban. Just the bread alone is a 10. The sandwich is on the small side, but it's a hearty sandwich that will fill you up. The breakfast burrito is also great. Tried a couple of their loaf cakes and they're good too. Had coffee only a couple of times. I liked their cortado. All in all, a great place to get a quick bite or caffeine hit when in the area.

Stopped by Rex for breakfast and it turned out to be a really solid spot. The place has a clean, simple vibe with a big selection of pastries and food. Definitely more than your typical coffee shop. I ordered the breakfast Cubano and a flat white. The Cubano was excellent. The pork was moist and flavorful, the pickles and egg worked perfectly together, and the brioche bun was toasted to a golden brown with that perfect crunch. It was a little on the smaller side, but the quality made up for it. Easily one of the better breakfast sandwiches I've had in the city. The flat white was fine, it did the job. The food is definitely the star here. Seating is pretty limited, most seats are usually taken. Still, I'd 100% come back for the sandwiches and the calm atmosphere when you can find a spot. Great place for a quick bite or to grab something on the go.

I was in the area and found this place on Yelp for breakfast. It was only a 2 minute walk from where I needed to be, so the decision was easy. I was greeted immediately when I walked in. It's a small spot. Only about three tables. Definitely more of a grab and go place. When I saw all the options for my breakfast sandwich, I still decided to be simple; BEC with hot sauce. I place my order and also order a small black iced coffee. As I'm sipping on my iced coffee (which was quite good), the kind gentleman behind the counter informs me they are out of bacon and asks me if I want a different meat instead. Hmm, how can you just run out of bacon? I went with sausage. Although the sandwich was tasty, I wish it was a sausage patty instead of sausage links. Patties are just better for breakfast sandwiches. Overall, it was a good experience. I would return and hope they have bacon!

Omg the egg sandwich with ham and cheese here is heavenly. Not the biggest sandwich, but so good nevertheless. The iced coffee here is also fantastic! Service was relatively fast and ambiance is very casual. Do note though that seating is limited and this place fills up quickly during the weekend!

Popped in for a little cappuccino and croissant treat! I actually searched Yelp for a croissants in the area, I was craving a good pastry. The croissant didn't disappoint, freshly baked and tasty. They were able to accommodate and made a single shot cappuccino for me . Love that they use Battenkill milk, it's my all time favorite. It looks like they have a lot of delicious, freshly baked pastries, and even make bagel sandwiches. A lot more than you could typically ask for from a small coffee shop.

The cafe was pretty small and didn't have much seating but it had a good vibe. The people working at the cafe are also pretty nice. I didn't get to try the food but some of the pastries looked interesting. I got a vanilla iced latte and it was pretty good ~ they also have extra syrup and milk on the side if you'd like to add more.

Ngl I didn't expect this to be good but my chorizo breakfast burrito was actually fire. On the smaller side for sure but it was just like 8 bucks. Tons of flavor and lots of meat and actually a nice lil bit of spice. Service was good too. They were quick. I mean it's a lil coffee shop so not much of an ambiance. Clientele seems annoying but I guess they can't control that. I'd just walk over to the pier and enjoy my food there where there is ample space and seating and a view not clogged up by hipsters - which I actually did do.

A gem in the city. My cousin took me here, she said the coffee was one of the best around and that they also had yummy eats for breakfast. Once you walk in, you can see the menu to the left for food and look up for the drink menu. I got an iced dirty chai with oat milk and it was the best coffee I had in NY at this point. Def get the brioche with chorizo, I also added spinach and jalepeños... warm and fresh, fluffy eggs and some salsa to top it off. The workers were super polite and helpful. A small and quaint spot, but I would def come here to get some work done as the energy was good. Good flow of customers, I can tell it's a favorite!

My favorite weekend breakfast spot! I am very loyal to Rex's egg sandwich. I love how I can customize it every time, and the eggs are cooked to perfection. Their coffee is also incredible. I also recommend trying one of the many fresh baked goods. The banana bread is a personal favorite. Great neighborhood vibes and comfy (but minimal) seating.

Loved this spot!! Super delicious bfast sandwiches that i think r a nice not too large size. The eggs r perfectly cooked and the brioche is pillowy w a nice chew. Also very smooth and yum espresso - i got the effervesso (?) which i thoroughly enjoyed. Wld 100% return!

It's been open for 2 years now and it's still as great as ever. They've added egg sandwiches on the weekend which are to die for and their croissants are better than the Maison Kayser a few blocks away. I love this place and I"m so happy they're doing well! My number one coffee shop in NYC. I work in Hell's Kitchen, and this is a perfect spot to stop in and pick up a drink and maybe a treat before heading to work. The coffee is always delicious, whether you get a tried & true drip, an iced coffee, or you treat yourself to a latte. They have a variety of home made goodies from sweet sticky morning buns to savory pastries and sandwiches. But the real reason to go to Rex is to get their breakfast sandwiches (I believe they serve 8a-11a on weekdays, and until 3p on weekends). Brioche buns, delicious toppings, and the SALSA VERDE. Whatever you do, get you some salsa verde. Hard to find a seat there sometimes, but for what it's worth, I've had a couple of dates here that have led to more dates...so what I'm saying is that there's something special about Rex. Tiny, cozy, and pet friendly coffee shop on 10th and 57th serving delicious baked goods, coffee and tea drinks, and amazing egg sandwiches. On weekdays they have their egg sandwiches until 11 am, and on weekends they offer them until 3 pm, so make sure you come at the right time if you plan on trying their incredible egg sandwiches! For $3.50, the egg sandwich consists of two fried eggs sandwiched between two soft and fluffy buns, and you can add more toppings to suit your preference at an additional cost. I got the egg sandwich with avocado and cheese and loved it - they were very generous with the avocado and I enjoyed every bite of my sandwich. Gosh I loved this place! My husband & I came here twice during our honeymoon trip. Once for breakfast and once for lunch. Their egg sandwiches are delish!!! I got mine on this yummy, buttery croissant with cheese and chorizo. Ugh! To die for! The coffee is amazing. My egg salad sandwich for lunch was just as awesome and flavorful. It's a small little spot with lots of business, so expect to get friendly and sit with 3 or 4 other people that you don't know lol Free wi-fi also. Clean bathrooms. Friendly faces and great service. Not much else to say other than check it out! read more

Awesome new place in a coffee desert (well except for Kahve). I see water finally :P Coffee is good, two communal tables where you can usually find a spot (and even a few plugs for campers). It's all windows and sunlight, which is great. Two tables, each 5 seats. Foodwise, they make their stuff fresh right here and I tried the scones and they were like.... different. Like it was bouncy/soft and not like the Starbucks rock-hard ones. read more

I took a nice stroll here on a sunny weekend when I had to work and it was definitely rewarding. My boss is usually very particular about his coffee. I got him a latte with almond milk and he really liked it. I myself got an iced coffee to cool off from the heat and was not disappointed. My only complaint is, WHY IS THIS PLACE SO FAR AWAY?!?!?! if you find yourself strolling/running on the west side highway, make sure to stop by this awesome shop read more

Love Rex! I've had the hot chocolate, blueberry muffin and the bacon egg and cheese sandwhich. All were fantastic. I do wish they served breakfast a little later. They stop making eggs at 11am. The store is extremely small so it is difficult to get a seat. But the costumer service and the food are all great! read more

Nice, cute spot for lunch. It's pretty small, but I've never had a problem finding some space to sit down in there when I've wanted to. I've had the Cuban, the Chicken Verde, the Lox with Avacado, and the Roast Beef Sandwhich. All were solid, with the Roast Beef being a definite favorite. The sandwhiches could be a little bit bigger but should be the right size for most. Staff is always very friendly. read more

Would give less than 1 star if possible. Not only is this the most over crowded, slow service you've ever received the food is beyond greasy. They have us a raw, undercooked croissant that was inedible. The espresso machine was down and had no cream. The only employee actually working was the guy making sandwiches while three stood one more lackadaisical than the next. You're better off going to Starbucks around the corner and that's saying a lot. read more

I adore Rex. Clean, cheerful, and avant-garde eatery. The grill starts getting Hot at 8am. Getting thrre before that time and sipp on some delicious coffee. Seen around 4 danish of various types. The scone was very tasty. I work within a mile of Rex and getting there before 9am is better for you to avoid lineage. Folks working there are friendly but still efficient in their service. 10th Ave and just south of 57th street. read more

This spot is way on the west side and I'm not over that far very often, but I stop in this place when I happen to be. A pretty good cup of coffee - maybe not the best in the city, but very good. Certainly better than Fika, down the street, which is never very good. What is a standout here is the blueberry muffins. I'm not sure if they do them there or get them delivered, but they are excellent. Always a good treat. read more

REX, the best. Jon made me the most amazing cappuccino I've ever experienced. Delicious 'counter culture' coffee mixed with the artistry of a Guinness draft. Rex opened a week after I moved into the neighborhood and I couldn't have been happier when it did. My joy for it has only grown since and a drop-in visit several times a week before my day begins is now the norm. Rex makes excellent coffee, serves freshly baked scones, muffins, croissants & pound cakes and makes fresh sandwiches using primarily locally sourced ingredients. The team that works here is extremely friendly and customer-focused. They will know your name by your third visit! The cowboy cookie, the egg salad and brie & avocado sandwiches are great, as is the egg & cheese sandwich (served on weekends only). Rex is a small, neighborhood coffee shop that chooses to do a few things, but does them incredibly well and with impeccable care. Several reviewers have rated it poorly for not being everything to everyone, but I rate it highly for exactly the same reason. read more

The cauliflower hummus sandwich made all the walking and waiting worth! Two pieces of multigrain bread were stuffed with grilled cauliflower, pickled onion, hummus, sliced cucumbers and some greens! Very tasty! The portion was actually big and can be shared by two girls, but I finished all of it! I would say it is the best vegetarian sandwich i have had so far:) forgot to mentioned that they added some sesame oil there! read more

I like this spot. Coffee is always on point, regardless of which one I get. Latte, drip, cappuccino, all are good and well made. The pastries that are available in the morning are really good as well. Their blueberry muffins and croissants are def worth a try. Staff is very nice and the wi-fi is fast. The seating sucks. It's a tiny space, and they only have two tables with four seats each. Generally it's cramped and hard to get a seat. No bathrooms either. This is certainly a spot where you're better off taking your coffee to go. read more

I have been going to rex for a while now and i must be honest this place is a quaint lil mom and pop cafe . The Coffee from counter culture is Great but The Service is Horrid . I have Watched the staff make rude comments about the Customers and Have over heard very loud racist converstaions . The Owner is a Racist and His Staff is Too. My People Of Color Please Do Not Bother You Will Not Be Treated Fairly . I Wouldnt Recommend this Place Rather Go to Starbucks Across the Street . read more

One of the best BEC I've ever had. I threw on some avocado and hot sauce...extra creaminess actually worked great (I'm not big on avocado). Their bacon is thick and crispy, a rare commodity. The yolk is still creamy but solid. The brioche is light but sturdy enough to hold the sandwich together. Construction is spot on, not too soggy or slippery. Good size. Ice coffee is also good on a summer day. read more

Wandered into this coffee shop tucked away in the corner while in the area. It's super cute and very small so I was surprised that it was so crowded. But we also went on a Sunday afternoon so that might be why. Despite the crowd, there was a good amount of people just chilling and doing work on laptops. I got an skim milk latte and the espresso was really strong! It has the kind of latte where you take a sip and you know it's a serious. If you live in Hell's Kitchen near 56th and 10th, you'll want to know about Rex. It's where you should be getting your coffee and egg sandwiches. Stop by and get a BEC with avocado on brioche before you go to work, and this probably make you a more pleasant person to be around. You could also hang out at the coffee shop and work for a while (there are a few tables inside). Plus, if you get hungry in the afternoon there are a few other sandwiches to choose from. read more

Rex is a tiny coffee shop in New York, but don't let the size fool you -- the coffee is fantastic! They offer all kinds of different flavors and everything I tried was really good. There's not much room to sit inside, so it's more of a grab-and-go spot, but honestly, the coffee alone makes it worth coming back. I wouldn't necessarily travel to Hell's Kitchen for Rex - can never be sure whether I'd be able to snag a seat - but living in the area easily makes this my go-to for a solid breakfast sandwich (and then Cafe Ole for a lunch sandwich!), especially when dining solo or with a friend. read more

Rex opened less then two years ago, and quickly it became the go to place for my coffee needs. They serve counter culture coffee, and some delicious breakfast sandwiches.
