And the award for today's worst customer service goes to.... REWE!
For those of you who are not familiar with the German supermarket landscape - REWE is a mid-price grocery chain, pricier than Aldi/Lidl/Penny but with better service (allegedly), a cleaner store layout, and a better selection of goods.
This store in Neubukow. a sleepy small town near the Baltic Sea coast, however, brings out the worst of the worst. The three older ladies working there are all equally annoyed by customers asking a simple question, give you attitude at the counter, and have no idea about where to find what. Since we're in the Eastern part of Germany I don't even expect to feel welcomed as a paying customer but I do expect not to be treated like a little child whenever I dare to bother an employee.
Or maybe I'm just expecting too much. This town is filled with disgruntled and depressed people, and if you're not retired and grumpy you are most likely unemployed and sit at the local bus stop with your bottle of booze every day. Welcome home. read more
