This is our second year at Revo and we are extremely happy with our choice. My now 8 year old spent a couple of years in the neighborhood public school but was left unchallenged and bored. The transition to revo was smooth--she has been very happy with her classmates. The kids are lovely and the environment is nurturing. It is easy for kids to feel supported and thrive in the environment. Class sizes were small but have been getting larger. The teachers are phenomenal, the administrators are very involved. I was particularly impressed with the science curriculum in 4th grade this year--students were exposed to concepts such as energy, light, structure of the eye, illusions, and eye disorders in a seamless manner. I never dreamed there was a school this cool. My child needed more than the local public school could offer. They tried to provide a more challenging atmosphere but what they can do for one child is limited. My son would come home and we would ask about his day and the highlight would be something that happened in after school care. Now every night we engage in what happened at school and he lights up telling about how he discovered a topic that is interesting. Revo challenges children to use their minds and engage in the process of learning. While this school is sometimes referred to as a place for "gifted" children it's more about children who are naturally curious and have an appetite for learning. While there is a cost associated to this school, having been in it for a few months, I would easily say the value is worth double the cost. The after school programs are amazing too. There is a great family feel to the program meaning that many of the parents interact inside and outside of school activities. Our child is in public school but has a learning style that does not match very well with the teaching method they use at his school. The school has been very helpful to adapt as much as possible but it has been challenging for parents, child, and teacher to try to couple different things together. He likes school but most of his learning is done after school. Therefore, we attended a school tour at Revo Academy in late October 2016 to determine if they offered a closer match. Revo Academy is one of many schools we have toured in October. The school presentation at the beginning of the tour was simple but effective in comparison because it was immediately clear they have expertise in gifted education. The school grounds are pleasant and the passion and caring of the teachers is recognizable during the tour. Although the school is far from where we live and we didn't really notice a "wow" factor at the time, we felt there were enough impressive qualities about the school to apply and ask to let our child attend a shadow day. The shadow day is where the "wow" factor kicked in. When we walked him into the classroom and watched him explore the room it suddenly "clicked" on us that the environment is setup exactly the way he studies on his own at home. We missed it without him with us for context, but now the little things we missed on the tour were immediately noticed by our child. He literally had his mouth open like he couldn't believe this was going to be a school day. The teacher and other students immediately made him feel welcomed. We knew he would enjoy his day at school... We picked him up from shadow day and we saw that for the first time he was academically satisfied after a day at school. He reviewed a few things when he got home, for example, the speed of light and the mass of the sun and plugged it into his equation, but it was totally different than we have experienced. We could almost see his brain happily connecting and sorting information instead of thirsting for it. This is our first glimpse of relief after we discovered we are in this group of learners. read more

She fit right into it and loves to going to school everyday. This is a great school! My children have learned so much there. My second grader did a presentation on the famous double slit experiment! The spelling words my kids bring home are impressive and I love the hands on work they get to do in class. The mark of an excellent school is not necessarily its size, but the quality of its faculty and educational approach. Along that line, some of the finest schools I have visited have been schools on the smaller side with a progressive educational approach and faculty that have experience in the field of education. As a parent and an educational advocate, I visit schools to find the right fit for not only my own children, but also other people's children. Regrettably, after visiting and researching Revo Academy, it is not in the same league as these fine and reputable schools. The location of the school is difficult to find, as there is little signage. Furthermore, because the building is part of a temple, it is unclear where the school is located. Upon arriving for my scheduled school tour, the owner, Ms. Bello, seemed preoccupied and not prepared for my visit. Additionally, my tour was not just for me. Another family was also scheduled at the same time. Multiple family tours create less of a personalized experience. Red flag #1. The owner greeted us, but it was very apparent that she had no experience in the field of admissions. Additionally, there was no intake information or form to complete, which is unusual for school tours. Red flag #2. As we began our tour of the school, a teacher from the school came up to us, but didn't acknowledge our presence. She immediately began speaking with the owner and they both began a very heated discussion in front of us. This was extremely uncomfortable and very unprofessional in my opinion. Red flag #3. After the heated discussion the tour resumed. The classrooms were good size, but did look a bit worn. One of the classrooms was a bit messy, but you could see some of the students were engaged. In another classroom, we walked in and one of the teachers was on her phone while the students were working on an assignment. It seemed a bit odd that the teacher was focused on her phone during class time. Red flag #4. The classroom ratio was small, which can be a great benefit for children. I counted an average of 6 students in a classroom. The owner explained that they were a high achieving/gifted school. She said they use a gifted curriculum, and offer co-curricular options. I asked her what the pedagogy was of the school, and she stumbled through the answer. Again, she did not seem equipped to take families on tours. Red flag #5. After the tour we asked questions and that concluded the tour. After my tour there was no follow up from the school. Red flag #6. * This school is NOT accredited. This means that the owner is the only one making decisions about the school and there is no neutral agency holding the school accountable. Red flag #7. * This school offers no tuition insurance so if a family has to leave for any reason, they are responsible for the full tuition. All reputable private schools offer tuition insurance. Red flag #8. * This school is new and has been in business less than two years. Newer schools go through multiple transitions and have a higher rate of closing. I would not recommend attending any school that has been in business less than 5 years. Red flag #9 * The owner(s) of the school has very little experience in education. The owner that took us on a tour, had only 2 years of teaching experience and NO experience in administration. This means the school is running with an inexperienced Principal/Head of School. Red flag #10. * After doing research, this school is a for profit school. I am not against for profit schools, but a for profit school with inexperienced owners, is a HUGE RED FLAG. Most for profit schools are owned by large investment groups AND/OR are accredited. Red flag #11. * The school is leasing space in an area where a K-8 school is not permitted. This isn't a huge issue, unless the county finds out. If that is the case, the school can be shut down immediately. Proceed with caution. Red flag #12. Visiting Revo Academy was certainly an experience to remember, but one that I never will repeat, and would not recommend to anyone else. My biggest concern is that no one at this school really knows how to run a school. I felt there was a "smoke and mirrors" approach going on at this school. If you are tempted by the allure or promise of this private school, you are be better off finding a more reputable school that has a track record and is accredited. I would proceed with extreme caution or give this school another three years (and accreditation) before engaging. read more

We are so very happy at Revo Academy. My oldest son is in 1st grade, and my middle son is joining the K class next year. My youngest boy is eager to go there as well - but he's too little! Revo is a school that gets the way gifted kids learn. The teachers see what each kid needs specifically and appreciate each student's uniqueness. The students really benefit from the gifted curriculum and project-based learning. My son loved to learn, but in his own way, and got frustrated with the pace of typical school. Revo's teachers are so passionate about finding engaging, outside of the box ways to teach their eager students. The student go deeper into the subjects - which is what gifted kids crave! My son is happy and excited by school now. Today, I heard my 6-year old giving me all his opinions and thoughts on women during the revolutionary war... He was inspired by a guest speaker! There is also a strong emphasis on helping the local community. The school really believes that these kids have the ability to change the world, and that idea is ingrained in their studies.
