It's a great school for any kids! Challenge each student according to their own ability and let them achieve their best! I have 3 kids there! They all appreciate Revo which does teach them things! And challenge them individually! Love it! If you want your kids to learn not a baby sitter then Revo is the best choose.

    At home, after shadow day

Our child is in public school but has a learning style that does not match very well with the teaching method they use at his school. The school has been very helpful to adapt as much as possible but it has been challenging for parents, child, and teacher to try to couple different things together. He likes school but most of his learning is done after school. Therefore, we attended a school tour at Revo Academy in late October 2016 to determine if they offered a closer match. Revo Academy is one of many schools we have toured in October. The school presentation at the beginning of the tour was simple but effective in comparison because it was immediately clear they have expertise in gifted education. The school grounds are pleasant and the passion and caring of the teachers is recognizable during the tour. Although the school is far from where we live and we didn't really notice a "wow" factor at the time, we felt there were enough impressive qualities about the school to apply and ask to let our child attend a shadow day. The shadow day is where the "wow" factor kicked in. When we walked him into the classroom and watched him explore the room it suddenly "clicked" on us that the environment is setup exactly the way he studies on his own at home. We missed it without him with us for context, but now the little things we missed on the tour were immediately noticed by our child. He literally had his mouth open like he couldn't believe this was going to be a school day. The teacher and other students immediately made him feel welcomed. We knew he would enjoy his day at school... We picked him up from shadow day and we saw that for the first time he was academically satisfied after a day at school. He reviewed a few things when he got home, for example, the speed of light and the mass of the sun and plugged it into his equation, but it was totally different than we have experienced. We could almost see his brain happily connecting and sorting information instead of thirsting for it. This is our first glimpse of relief after we discovered we are in this group of learners.

He's made certain statements to my daughter saying in front of the classroom, "Nobody is on your side, if you make a complaint everyone will be on my side." Then proceeds to ask the classroom to raise their hand if they will tell on him. My daughter then proceeds to say they are all afraid of him and he will punish them by giving them more work if they do tell on him. My daughter asks to use the restroom and he does not allow her. When she is cold and wants to go to her locker to get her jacket, he tells her, " oh well, I guess you'll be cold then." There have even been several other incidents weekly. This person does not need to teach or be around students. We have had a parent teacher conference meeting with the assistant principal & two other teachers and his attitude toward the kids have been addressed, but no change has been made. Please choose a different school for your child to attend.

If you get Mr. Burns, IMMEDIATELY request to switch out, He gives so much unnecessary work, and if you have a question, he just doesn't answer it. Also, the assemblies are most of the time boring and unnecessary, and the lunch is alright, but kids keep putting random shit in the water fountains. Some teachers are cool though. Overall 2/10 Oh also, If you're not athletic, The runs will be torture.

And even more not listed here) I am only going to comment on our personal experience. My daughter is taking CP, Honors, and AP classes, along with being involved in Varsity sports. Her classes have been challenging for the most part and her teachers top notch. I have zero complaints regarding the academic aspects of the school, and quite the contrary I applaud them. My daughter's teachers want her to succeed and are available before and after class for consultations. Her coach is fantastic as well. She has never had any hazing or harassment issues whatsoever. The front office staff has been nothing but kind and helpful, especially Kathy. Every question was met with courtesy and answed in a timely manner. The Counseling dept is pretty good. Truthfully, my daughter works more closely with her counselor than I do. However, it appears she is on the right path to acceptance into a UC school. I've heard all the stories of pretentiousness and quite frankly, it almost dissuaded me from sending my daughter here. However, there are many sub-cultures here. I can not lie, pretentious does exist, but in short supply. The majority are just regular everyday kids, struggling with everyday regular problems, looking for their place in the world. And WHS pretty much (as much as any school could) offers a safe and open environment for my daughter to find that place. Nothing is perfect. Our job as parents is to help guide our kids and teach them right from wrong. And I've found WHS is the perfect adjunct to this lesson in life. Great school, safe environment, police on staff, canine dogs that sniff for drugs, and administration that is effective. Note: The new principal is starting 2015-2016. He overhauled Los Cerritos Middle School and will be a great addition to WHS. My son flourished @ LCMS under his "rule".

The only problem I had here was my counselor playing favorites over ethnic backgrounds. I am dead serious. No I am not saying she was prejudiced, but it was kind of shady. Every time I asked her a question, she would somehow misunderstand it and say that she would keep my decisions in mind, until she helped Hispanic students. Of course, during this time, there was a program going around in getting more Hispanic educated and into college. There should be nothing wrong with this; however, I am merely stating that I should deserve the same one on one time. In the last two years, I did have a better counselor though and for that, I am totally happy for. All in all, for a high school that was known for their Academic Decathlon, FBLA, and football program; I was happy to be a Musketeer from 2004-2008. Sure I never was able to make it into Aca Deca, but FBLA was pretty cool (I placed 10th, in my Senior Year, in the Spreadsheets category- out of 10 people that had actually taken the test and still have not received my well deserved plaque) and the football games were fun to watch. Love the fact that the picture repping this place is Performing Arts building. Even though I had never participated in Drama, Theater, and Acting; I was able to be in a lot of movies in Lexington, KY. I guess some of the strengths of this high school, if it was a strength, indirectly rubbed off on me~
