Nice set of Roman ruins and walls just under the Capilla San Pedro in Gijon…read more The Campo Valdés Hot Springs were discovered accidentally after some sewage works carried out in 1903. The interest in Roman remains did not have a lot of push in Spain until the end of the Civil War, when the old church of San Pedro, built on the ruins, was destroyed. It was then that it was discussed whether to rebuild the temple in its original location, an idea that was finally carried out, hiding part of the site forever. After a series of attempts to expose part of the ruins to the public, excavations began in 1990 and brought to light a large part of the construction, later the current museum was built, which was inaugurated in 1995. The entrance is free and it has a lot of information and legends on the history of the site.
