Pastor Trevor, who founded the church, truly gives his heart and soul to the ministry. His sermons are engaging, insightful, and often include great comedic moments. I definitely think the pastor is worth coming to listen to; I've been in churches my whole life and his approach to the Bible leans heavily on the application to our lives today, so you leave with a feeling that you've learned something that helps your journey of faith. It's a pretty cathedral with lots of history. I especially loved the wooden beams on the ceiling, it reminded me more of Dutch architecture than Spanish. One of the odd quirks of this particular cathedral is that you exit through a gift shop, which kind of threw me off and didn't feel genuine. Overall, if you're interested in architecture and history, this is an okay stop while exploring that city but definitely not a must.

The leadership displayed by the "pastor" and his wife…read moreraises serious concerns about whether the biblical principles preached from the pulpit are actually practiced behind closed doors. James 1:19 tells us to be "quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry." Perhaps leadership should spend more time reflecting on that Scripture rather than becoming defensive when faced with disagreement or criticism. A pastor is called to shepherd, not control. To serve, not be served. To demonstrate humility, not arrogance. Yet the atmosphere surrounding this leadership seems to reflect more ego, judgment, and defensiveness than grace, compassion, or accountability. The apparent hypocrisy is astounding. Members can be criticized for enjoying football, yet softball seems to take precedence over church activities. Apparently, certain worldly interests are acceptable when leadership participates, but questionable when others do. That's not biblical accountability. That's a double standard. Gossip, judgment, and a lack of discretion have no place in spiritual leadership. A church should be a safe place for people to seek guidance, ask questions, express concerns, and grow in their faith without fear of being judged, dismissed, or ostracized. Matthew 7:15 warns, "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves." A microphone does not make someone a spiritual authority. A title does not make someone a shepherd. And quoting Scripture every Sunday means very little when the same principles aren't reflected in everyday conduct. The true character of church leadership is not revealed by how loudly they preach, but by how they treat people who disagree with them, question them, or need their compassion. Church should never revolve around personalities, egos, favoritism, or protecting leadership from accountability. It should revolve around Jesus Christ. For anyone considering attending this church, pay attention to more than the Sunday sermons. Pay attention to how concerns are handled, how people are treated, and whether leadership holds itself to the same biblical standards it expects everyone else to follow. A church that preaches grace but practices judgment, demands accountability but refuses to accept it, and speaks of love without demonstrating it should seriously examine whom it is truly serving. You can stand behind a pulpit and preach about Jesus every Sunday, but that doesn't mean you're leading people toward Him.

I loved the traditional elements and their emphasis on sacraments. The pastor was a great communicator and had a good sense of humor which I loved!
