If you're in Vienna 1st district, have short spare time and don't want to walk or transport far for…read morea world class museum visit, Albertina fits the bill perfectly. Currently they have a selection of "Monet bis Picasso" exhibit that is definitely worth the visit. Small gallery, well curated, crowded depending on the time, but nowhere near Belvedere or Louvre craziness.
It's not a huge museum, but the Albertina packs a lot of world-class stuff. If you're into…read moreImpressionist art, you'll find a good amount here. The "Monet to Picasso" exhibit is well-curated and you'll definitely enjoy their collection. The special exhibit they had during my visit was a modern art one, which isn't much my interest but definitely a change from their regular exhibits. Additionally, the museum has staterooms from the old Habsburg days. If you only have time for one small museum in Vienna, this one would be a very good choice.

If any of the pieces catch your eye, they are willing to discuss prices with you, and if you are willing to pay cash, they are more likely to negotiate with you. They represent a good range of Austrian mid-range priced artists. They have an international presence and often go to Shanghai, Hong Kong, Miami, and New York for exhibitions. They also have a little room below selling fine wines. Stop by!

I've been here twice in the last forty-eight hours. That's saying a lot. I initially stopped by…read moreon a whim while walking in the area - you'll be immediately drawn to the colors in the window. Once you go inside, you're surrounded by some really cool wall art - think wall tattoos, chalk boards in the shapes of cows of all colors, 3-D graphics that you can easily mount on your wall, floor stickers.... It's all there. They even have "tattoo" stickers for your iPad and laptop. On my first visit I purchased a rather large chalkboard/magnet sticker, only to realize that I really did *need* another one in black for the kitchen. It's so cool, went up easily, looks great, and you can't tell that it is a sticker. Cuadros gets an A+ for their customer service - on the first visit the woman working there explained everything to me, offered to order anything in colors that they didn't have in stock, and gave me a little brochure with a variety of their offerings. On the second visit, I was searching for another store in the area after picking up my chalk board, and the nice young man offered to check the internet. Really, so pleasant all the way around. The best part is that it is very affordable and allows you to change your walls as you want. They have a couple of different phrases in stickers, the one that stuck out to me was the "do not enter" in typical US street sign fashion... I might have to go back and get that one for the bathroom door.

They also have designer paraphernalia, useful or just nice :) I bought my really loved sticky foil for the wall there on which i can write or draw with crayon. I just love it, it looks great on my living room wall and i can pin photos on it cause its also magnetic! The only minus are the prices, its not cheap to buy there.
