I'm not even sure where to begin with expressing how fantastic this food truck along with it's owners are!!! I got married on August 17th in Oregon City and they were a part of our wedding....serving food to approximately 100 people. Our guests are still talking about the food, how wonderful Kim and Roy are, and how accommodating they were. They went above and beyond to cater to all of our needs and followed through with all that they said they were going to do all with a smile on their faces(they actually looked like they were having a good time). Whether you're looking for a fantastic meal for a good price or searching for a food truck to be a part of your wedding or special event I strongly recommend Retrolicious!! Super in every sense of the word. Green Castle pod has a few good carts but these guys are in a league of their own. Been there maybe 4 or 5 times and EVERY time its amazing - and to top it off the owners are so friendly - Kim treats you like family (even your pooch) - authentically welcoming. The food. Yeah. A few highlights... Their rendition of a cuban called the Castro. So good - a couple (or few) thin pork chops in a ciabatta (i think?) sammich with all the fixins and these pickled red onions set it off. The veggie wrap is very good if you're in for something lighter - but still large portioned like most everything there. The weekly chicken salad special - Thai style. Very good, peanutty sauce and a little tang. Had it in a wrap (most everything can be sammied, wrapped, or straight salad'd) Highlight 4 was my favorite so far, another weekly chx salad special, but super fresh and light (not a heavy mayo chx salad): The Roasted Poblano & Jicama Chicken Salad... a chipotle vinegar adds a little kick, but not too spicy - reminds me just a little of Pok Pok Noi's Game Hen Salad. So. Good. Mac n Cheese was crazy good - some nuances in there - roasted garlic, potato chips, and something subtly sweet. Really nice - but not gonna want to take that down every day. Don't forget the cupcakes! I was there with the chillins and Kim brought us out some end-of-the-day freebies - holy wow. Next time I need to buy em. Must weigh a pound but somehow soft and moist. Everything is around $7 bucks. They're pretty new but should become Portland Cart Legends soon enough. read more

A sandwich is not just a sandwich with retrolicious. I've only eaten from their truck but I can say the best chicken sandwich I've ever had is from these folks. Retrolicious is a lesson to these new age pretentious restaurants and food trucks that are all too common in Portland that doing something simple really really really well beats trying to be fancy or too inventive with food every time; You don't have to over complicate or reinvent food, just do it right. A tad on the pricy side but the value is pretty good given the size of their sandwiches ($10 will get you a big sandwich, bag of chips, and "hello darlin'). Their tuna melt was nothing to write home about but their fried chicken sandwiches are to die for. And they are always changing up the menu and mixing it up which is great. Myself and my coworkers always look forward to these guys when we know they're coming around - Highly recommended!! read more

I consider myself a fan of good chicken and this place has by far the best in Portland. Not only is the chicken wonderfully breaded and fried, but the portion is HUGE. Definitely best chicken/dollar ratio I have seen and the buffalo chicken w/ bleu cheese slaw in particular is one of my favorite sandwiches in town right now. It's not that there aren't other good options in the Green Castle cart pod. It's just that those other options aren't Retrolicious. This place just nails it. Excellent service, excellent foods, and the menu changes subtly now and then, but the stuff you want is still always there. Speaking of stuff you want. You want the BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato, avacado.) As a vegetarian type, I order it as a TLA, but it's no less satisfying. The mac and cheese comes in a portion large enough to feed four people, and the veggie wrap is perfectly delicious and healthy-like, all at the same time. read more

Thank you Retrolicious for saving the day! Let me set the scene: 1:00 p.m.- 3 girls and one guy in a never ending line for photos after the PDX Color Run. Up since 6:30, little to no breakfast, color powder bombed, thirsty, hungry, hot (from the late September sun). Being women, we were all just "fine". Dude knows what "fine" means in woman speak. He disappears and then reappears in 20 minutes. He has discovered the Retrolicious food truck in the parking lot. He is holding two friend chicken sandwiches (cut in half) and a tray of thick cut fries. OMG! At that point, anything would have been good. But this was an AMAZING friend chicken sandwich. The chicken was PERFECT! Dare I say "moist", flavorful, and fried to absolute perfection? Oh, and the coleslaw and bun? Yes. Just yes. Really good food, huge portions, friendly service. It's hard to ask for more. The sandwiches are as good as all the other reviewers said, but I want to mention the side salads that come with your order (or chips, but I'm not a fan of any chips) that change frequently. One day it's a roasted corn salad, then a lentil salad, or a macaroni salad. All were so, so good. The macaroni salad was not swimming in mayonnaise, so you can actually taste the pasta and veggies. I make a four-cheese Mac&Cheese from scratch, and I know Mac&Cheese - it's hard to impress me (though it's true that I'm easy to please). O. M. G. This "Creamy Pimiento Mac&Cheese" is mind-blowing! Topped with a perfectly-cooked crispy fried chicken breast (delicious on its own), I think I just ate the perfect lunch. (I'll have a salad for dinner - this is worth every delicious calorie.) I almost never feel compelled to write a review, but this sandwich did it. I've had their chicken and waffle before, which are good, but then the Señor Raul sandwich was out of this world, crazy delicious. As described it is cuban-ish, on a ciabatta roll. By cuban-ish they mean thick juicy slices of roast pork and crisp strips of bacon, pickles and dijon mayo...the flavor explosion is ridiculous! And I don't normally like ciabatta rolls, but it was the perfect choice to soak up all the juicy deliciousness without going soggy. My boyfriend and I have dubbed this sandwich the F*bomb, because our initial reaction was, "omg, this is f*****g amazing!!" Also, don't let the size fool you. This place is the bomb!! It is a rarity for my family to go to a place and all order something off the menu and be STOKED with our order. (we have a 3 and a 6 year old) We got the egg sandwich (deconstructed), the Pork Belly sandwich, the mac and cheese, and the waffles with fresh fruit and whipped cream. This truck was parked outside a building where I was training today and the line of people and delicious smells drew me in. I ordered the crispy chicken on the advice of yelp reviews. The menu board only listed it as a sandwich but I asked if they could do a salad and I heard 'you betcha!' The people working were so friendly and sweet. Now the food!!! That chicken was DELICIOUS! Crispy and juicy and just damn good. The dressing was a honey mustard situation and I loved it. I will note that the wait was not bad, they had a rather large group that had hit them then they just started rocking it out. Once I ordered and paid my food was done 3 mins later. read more

O! M! G! I just ate the best BLT of my life. Tons of perfectly cooked bacon, arugula, tomato and avocado. Comes with dijon mayo, but I got regular mayo. Holy crap, that thing was good. Only issue is that I'm afraid it might not be on the menu next Tuesday when Retrolicious is parked at my work. I've also eaten the buffalo chicken wrap. It's really good, and really hot (a bit of a warning). Pasta salad is kind of pickley for my liking, but still good. Definitely Delicious. Eaten from the cart twice and both times have been fantastic... The gal taking orders is an absolute delight. I just love her energy and how she interacts with the patrons. The service is so fantastic, that they had loaner umbrellas at the cart for folks to use while in line. Nice friendly touches =) I had the dragon bowl my first rodeo, and today was chicken and a (big) waffle. Huge portion... perfect melty bacon, loved the syrup and the brownie... don't get me started. She even threw the crispy pieces from the pan in (total score) I'm dying to hear how a co-workers Cuban sandwich is (in fridge waiting for him) and my other co-worker had the grilled cheese. I've had chicken and waffles many times in many different places including Roscos and other places in LA but none of them compare to what Roy and Kim can cook up in their pink retrolicious food truck.
