Hmmmm, I'm not so sure about the hype surrounding this place. It came highly recommended by three friends, touted as a place with awesome breakfast and vegan options. But overall it was just OK. We showed up on a Saturday morning and it was packed but they seated us quickly, which was welcome as we were starving. After looking at the menu I was slightly disappointed, as it didn't have as many vegan options as I'd hoped. We ordered two breads though. The vegan one with the lentil spread and pickles was good, but nothing spectacular. My husband ordered one of the vegetarian ones but it was out, so he got the egg one instead, which he said was also fine. Additionally, we ordered one of the oatmeals with almond milk, gluten-free oats, peanut butter, banana, nuts, cinnamon, etc. It wasn't particularly flavorful but my son liked it. As for drinks, my husband got the hot chocolate and he enjoyed it; of all the hot chocolates he had in the city, it was his favorite. The price was also pretty good. But I found the service was not particularly friendly (everyone seemed in a rush) and the food just medium. read more

Excellent place for tea lovers!! This cafe located in the heart of Gdansk. Beautiful small street a few steps from the water. This coffee shop offers over 30 different teas from the world and some creations of their own. Moreover, their coffee is excellent and trying a cappuccino is a gorgeous experience as the foam is creatively decorated. For breakfast you may have oatmeal with fruits and nuts or other small dishes. Lunch and dinner have wide assortment of polish and European cuisine. Super friendly service. Definitely would be interested in coming back. read more

While visiting Gdańsk, I was searching foe a gluten-free bakery for my husband. Let's be honest. Poland has some of the most amazing pastries. I didn't want to eat alone. We came here just to take some with us. After walking in, we wanted to stay. Omg, it would be my favorite coffee shop if I lived here. The desert i had chosen was apple cake or szarlotka. Not sure if this was gluten-free but my husband had a chocolate one. It was amazing! I also splurged on some espresso martini. Never had it and now I can't live without it. Fantastic! read more

I LOVE RETRO! We only spent two days in Gdansk, but went for breakfast here both days. The first day we spent hours drinking coffee and chatting. The atmosphere is very comfortable and groovy. In London, this coffee shop would be far outside my price range! The food here is fantastic. One of the main reasons that I was initially attracted to Retro was the fact that my traveling partner is a vegan. Retro has tons of veggie and vegan options and it made my traveling partner very happy. Their menu is in English and Polish. Both days we had different versions of their oatmeal and smoothies, all of which was fantastic! Retro while being on the main tourist street does not feel touristy. If I lived in Gdansk, I would visit here daily and I missed Retro when we left! It is rare to find such a perfect coffee shop! read more

We stopped here twice for coffee during our trip. The first time we sat outside and the second time inside. The tables outside are a bit shaky and the atmosphere inside is cozy and inviting. I love the old decor; typewriters and books to read. There were so many things on the menu to choose from but I ordered a Siódme Niebo - kind of like a latte but with sweetened condensed milk added. So good! Can't miss. We ordered one of their vegan desserts to try and it was better than we expected. It was good enough to return to on a street filled with places to stop. I strongly recommend it for the taste of their freshly roasted coffee and the value. For three coffees and a dessert I paid $17 USD. Outrageous! read more

I really liked this place. I had a bowl of oatmeal with blackcurrent and homemade almond chocolate butter (omg). This might have been the tastiest oatmeal I've ever had. We also had the salmon cream cheese sandwich and a bowl of their homemade granola. Also, great coffee! read more

Cozy café with retro interior. The service was outstanding. When we came there weren't any free tables so she asked me if I wanted her to call me when they got one. 15 minutes later she called and we got some really good sandwiches with mozarella and tomatoes. The coffee was fine, and it was fun that they had mustaches on the cups so that we looked cute when drinking. read more

f there were not so many interesting things outside the café, this is the kind of place where you could spend the day. The interior invokes a 1930s atmosphere, while the tables outside are perfect for people watching. Deserts are excellent and reasonably priced. A place with soul! Quiet, stylish atmosphere, home-baked cakes, aromatic coffee and wide selection of flavoured teas. I love salted peanuts and chocolate cake - it's delicious! :) Sometimes it's hard to find a table, especially in the evening it's overcrowded. Due to the fact that service is much toooooo slow...
