Stephen FAR exceeded our expectations!!!…read more I contacted Stephen because I was planning my best friend's Bachelorette Party in Nashville (we're from California) and there were 17 girls coming... I knew there was no way we would get a decent picture of all 17 of us, and my best friend loves photos. I thought it would be fun to schedule a photo session to commemorate our celebration. I knew Stephen was the right photographer when I pitched him our crazy idea and he responded with thoughtful questions about the style of photos I was looking for. We wanted to be in nature, and not too 'stylized' - this seemed to align with his style. We continued to talk about locations, and he even gave me alternate recommendations when the forecast said it might rain. I was impressed with him before we even met him! We agreed on Centennial Park as our ideal photo shoot location and the weather was perfect. Stephen was there early, and was very patient when 17 girls didn't exactly arrive on time ;) We scoped out the unusually-crowded park for spots that would accommodate a large group, with a pretty background, and good lighting. We all just walked around until Stephen said "this is a good spot" - then we took some photos, and moved on. I was VERY surprised how much he could capture in such short time! It was seamless, and he was a great mixture of patient, relaxed, fun and efficient. We got several group shots in different locations (the trees were in full bloom!), individual pictures of everyone with the Bride (in locations of their choice), some fun pictures of the group with the Bride popping a bottle of champagne, and we even pulled off an outfit change! Stephen turned our crazy idea into reality, and within a couple days of the shoot, he provided a link with a password so all our girls could access the dozens of amazing pictures he took & edited. Now the Bride has incredible professional photos of her celebration! EVERYONE commented on how perfect the pictures turned out, and how easy Stephen was to work with. We all LOVE Stephen and would highly recommend him!

The longer version of the above is that I asked Stephen to come take photos of 3 little boys -- their ages were almost 1, almost 3, and 4. I really like the photo-documentary / photojournalist style I saw in his portfolio on his website and wanted to capture some of our "real life" moments with our kids. As you can imagine with three little guys this age, these are not easy people to photograph. And yet Stephen did a *spectacular* job of capturing our kids in all their real-life glory. Even amidst tears and tantrums from less-than-cooperative little people, I love the pictures we got. Stephen has a great eye for details and the artistry that I want from a photographer in terms of framing the shot and getting the right details in the image (which is really not always the case from other photographers I've worked with). He was also super-reasonably priced, and at least for his family portraiture, his fees included the images themselves (you didn't have to buy your prints through him -- he emailed me all the images and so I now have them saved in soft copy on my computer and could order the prints from whatever outlet I choose at fair prices; I used mpix.com and it was easy.) Our family almost never hired professional photographers for family photos before, but now I think we will actually start doing this more often after finding Stephen. We plan to get more pictures with him in the future for sure.
