My best friend in the universe was seeing Dr. Job monthly. He had been thru 3 total left shoulder replacements because the first 2 failed, and 4 right shoulder replacements because he developed sepsis (from P.acnes) after the first replacement, and came close to death because of it. He had major spine surgery due to Dual Pars fractures at L5, and then 2 subsequent spine surgeries, one to adjust the cage put in to bridge L4 and L5, and one to then remove the cage because of infection (MRSA and P.acnes). As a consequence of all of these surgeries, he developed scar tissue and debilitating arthritis. He was in constant severe pain which pushed his BP dangerously high.
Dr. Jon one day "force tapered" my friend from 75mcg Fentanyl once every 48hrs and 30mg Oxycodone once every 6 hours to Oxycontin ER 10mg and Hydrocodone IR 10mg. Well, my friend wound up in the ER due to severe dehydration and malnutrition from the constant vomiting and diarrhea, and from a stroke due to severe high BP. Vomiting, diarrhea, and very high BP were due to withdrawal sickness and the severe pain he was "re-experiencing" as they force tapered him. Unfortunately, my dear best friend committed suicide subsequently,to this because RMP's office administrator, "Jarred" (an Australian fellow) dismissed my friend from the practice after he complained several times about the forced tapers. My friend never got a chance to speak to Dr. Job..he was simply dismissed by Jarred out of hand. My friend also traveled frequently for work and would sometimes need early refills, something Jarred was against. I mean, work is work, you have to show up, something "Jarred" didn't understand.
This office showed no mercy for my best friend. They never gave him a chance after they force tapered him into his death. They did not even treat him for his withdrawal sickness, instead just releasing him with a sheet of the names of pain physicians in Florida, nome of whom would continue his sorely needed opioid therapy. My friend had tried all of the other pain treatment modalities, and none worked except for Opioid Therapy. My friend was highly intolerant of NSAIDs, which would cause severe GI-tract symptoms, including severe GI-pain.
My friend's family is pursuing the matter with the FL Board of Health. They claim that Dr. Job should have provided the appropriate medical Best Practice for tapering while maintaining pain control. RMP did neither; instead they through him to the wolves.
His first name was Michael and his last name began with R and ended with A. He was originally from NJ and lived in Bradenton, FL where he committed suicide. His wife found him in the bedroom with a single gun shot wound to the temple area.
Be very careful who you go to for pain management. When they taper you as drastically as Dr. Job did to my best friend, and when they treat you the way the office admin Jarred treated my friend (like a common criminal) then the results can be horrific.
I beg you, DO NOT GO TO RSP. read more
