After thorough testing, Dr. Miranda determined that my tooth had normal sensitivity and did not need a root canal after all. What impressed me most was Dr. Miranda's honesty and attention to detail. She explained that because the root is so close to the nerve, attempting a root canal could very likely cause permanent numbness in that area of my face. Instead of performing an unnecessary procedure, she took the ethical and professional approach and advised against it. I truly appreciate the thoroughness, honesty, and professionalism at Cornerstone Endodontics. Highly recommend.

The endodontist had great bedside manner and communicated very clearly, asking did his assistant. Even without the ability to speak during the procedure, I was able to raise my hand to signal if I was feeling pain (though I never needed to!) He also checked in every so often to make sure I was doing ok, asking for a thumbs up if all was well. I'll absolutely be going here should I ever need an endodontist again!

This time, I talked to my husband and he agreed that it was worth the extra money for my health and comfort so I made an appointment with Apex. There was only one doctor and one patient at a time. The previous doctor I had went to was performing multiple procedures at once. It really was scary. I was kept much more comfortable and the doctor was more gentle so my face wasn't swollen like a chimpmunk. I did use the pain meds but only that evening and by the next day I was ready to get back to business. I would recommend Apex for root canals and I hopefully won't need anymore for awhile but if I do, I would go back!

After I asked about them, I was told "it's like a splinter and your body will heal the infection." The pain and swelling started within 2 days so I called per the paperwork, and they called in steroids and antibiotics. It remained the same for the next 3 days. 4 days later I was told by Dr. Budig to go to the ER for IV antibiotics to "knock it out." I immediately went, and after a CT scan of my head, I was admitted to OPR for large abscess in my jaw (swelling out cheek and below jawline). I had the large abscess and molar removed by an oral surgeon, and required drains that have left a large scar on my neck. This ordeal kept me in the hospital 3 days/nights. This will cost me thousands out of pocket. Trust your gut, and advocate for antibiotics up front if you have an active infection... maybe that could have saved me from this nightmare.

Sadly, although I had high expectations, visiting University Park Endodontics was one of the worst…read moredental office experiences I've had in some time. Dr. Kong seemed competent and personable, but also displayed a bit of youthful overeagerness. Although Dr Kong may be passionate about his work, it may be wise to also be a bit more empathetic to the fact that these procedures can be very costly and daunting for patients. The biggest disappointment though were the office staff! The person handling the billing seemed paticularly incompetent. Despite having been provided all insurance information, including contact info, policy info, and fee schedule, several weeks prior to the scheduled appointment, on the day of appointment this person claimed to not have been able to verify or confirm any of the insurance info and demanded the full, noninsurance cash price for treatment. Keep in mind that the insurance company is one of the major insurers in the area, not some no-name, off-brand insurance company. How is it even possible to not be able to verify insurance information when you've had up to two months to do so, or to not even bother to let the patient know there was an issue? Truly disappointing! Even more problematic were the sanitary practices used by the person operating the CT scan. Although this person wore gloves, she used a keyboard to control the scanner, and then would literally stick her fingers into my mouth to adjust the teeth positioner, and then go back to the keyboard. This was repeated several times, but I saw no evidence that the keyboard was sanitized between patients! WTF?? This is not good! In hindsight I should have immediately addressed my concern, as I now have real fears as to what bacteria or virus I may have been exposed to! At the very least a peroxide rinse should have been offered. Again, Dr. Kong seems competent, but the competency of his staff is dubious at best. Buyer beware!

So far my experience w/ Dr. Kong and his office is incredible. from their front desk (Max) to Dr…read more Kong, easy 5 stars. He's funny... he explains things in a way I can understand, his social skills/bedside manners are refreshing, and he's quick. He understands anxiety in the dental chair and actively strives to help you be as comfortable as possible. He's also conservative in his approaches which I personally value. And in network w/ the Honeywell Cigna Dental (DHMO) plan which is hard to find.

My appointment was at 9:00 and I was in my car by 9:50 ... and the best part, it didn't hurt. This group is AMAZING!!!! I really can't say enough positive things about the group. This is their specialty ... root canals ... and they've mastered it. It is a two-step process to ensure they cure the infection and then a follow-up to check it and compete the process. Any criticisms about it being a root canal "assembly line" are misguided; it's an incredible business model and plan .. these doctors know what they are doing (as opposed to my "regular" dentist who doesn't perform root canals every day); their set up is efficient and streamlined ... coupled with the fact that these doctors are experts, I HIGHLY recommend them. I can honestly say that getting a root canal from Dr. Wollard was a pleasant experience ... and that's saying a lot!

I googled this practice and went in terrified ready for some serious dental work. The practice was kind and patient, and did some 3-D X-rays. Turns out it's not the root. I was so impressed with how they treated me and how honest this practice is. I would gladly go back for any work I may need in the future.
