They have a wide variety of seafood, all of which looked delicious, but we went for their special razor clam rice with fried squid, which was delicious (and huge! The half portion was honestly enough for two) We also got the veal stuffed with ham, raisins, and chestnuts in a cream sauce which was unique and tasty. Prices were an excellent value for the quality of the food, and they also have a menu of the day (lunch special) which is an even better deal for around 12e, which had either a fish or meat option when we were there (you have to ask about it, it's on the menu outside but not listed on the inside menu). One downside was that it was pretty hot in there mid-afternoon. We got there right at the end of lunch service so maybe they had shut off the AC? In any case, worth a stop especially if driving north to Lisbon (they have plenty of free parking too!)-would definitely return and maybe explore Sines a bit more as well (castle was cool and beach looked beautiful from afar!)

Well, once again, I felt the need to comment on this place. I went in on a simple hotel recommendation- millions of travelers get those all the time. I WAS BLOWN AWAY. First - Portuguese is a tough language and that's coming from someone who speaks French, Spanish, and Italian (and others!). But the staff spoke both English and Spanish, and I was super comfortable. Second, I was able to explain my gluten-free needs to my server and she readily explained what was OK for me and what was not. Finally, I ordered my dinner - the "mista" (mixed) plate of grilled Iberian Pork. My God it was delicious, accompanied by very crispy fries and tasty olives. I ordered the house red wine and it was so good I had 3 glasses! And at the end, my bill was UNDER $20! Mind you, this one of the premier restaurants in Santiago do Cacém. This place is not exact on the waterfront, separated from it by a wide street, though the view is quite open. We are glad the menu is available in English and the waiter is also fluent in English. We ordered a sole, and a risotto. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dinner, the quality of seafood is very good, and the price very reasonable.
