We went here based on the Yelp reviews and it held up to its rating. The place is really small so make reservations if you can otherwise just be prepared to hangout for a bit. I had the scallop soup as a starter and it was wonderful. My son had the goat cheese cigar based on another Yelper's suggestion and he loved it. When I was younger, my brothers and I would fight over who got the gizzard when my mom made fried chicken. Well, sorry Mom, but this wonderful restaurant has a chicken gizzard appetizer that almost had me licking the plate. The spices in the sauce are wonderful and the gizzards were perfectly cooked. We went here for a family dinner based on the high ratings. The food was good, but not great. I had a whole fish. I wish there were more vegetables. The green wine was delicious. What a great place!! We had an amazing time - went there for lunch, and ended up being first ones through the doors as they open at 1pm on Saturdays. Hostess was friendly and helpful, offered us a white sangria which was a terrific choice with our seafood meal. My husband had sea rice, my daughter had tiger prawns, my son had veal steak, and I had roasted octopus with sweet potatoes. Out of this world!!! The grilled octopus tastes really bad. When we later asked they told us the octopus is frozen from another country, not fresh from Portugal. It does not taste like octopus but rather like chicken. Do not recommend. When you come to Portugal and in a restaurant that serves seafood you expect them to at least serve you something that is fresh. But their food especially their octopus is really bad. Their service is even worse, when we asked about it they told the fishy part of the octopus is normal and that is how they cook it. They also claimed that it is normal for them to cook frozen octopus. Staff are very rude. All the food we ordered are tasteless. read more

We had the logostinos appetizer which was phenomenal we also had the rabbit croquet and olives to start absolutely delicious. Wine was excellent and inexpensive my suggestion is order the red house wine which is better than most wanted you could buy at high-end restaurants. We were exhausted and famished and used Yelp to choose Restaurant Duque for dinner. I have an allergy to bell peppers and they were very helpful in advising us what to choose. We began with the clams in a broth that included butter, garlic and wine. We used the seeded and rustic boules to dip into the clam broth - it was that good. The fish was flaky and perfectly seared. They substituted a citrus and cilantro rice for the chickpeas since I'm not a fan. The entre' was presented split without being asked and the portions were perfect. This was the cutest restaurant I went to in Lisbon. It had a great atmosphere, really friendly staff and cool toilet. The cheese was the BEST CHEESE IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!!! We also ordered fish for two which entailed three whole fish spread out in a platter. Very impressive if you ask me. The sautéed vegetables that came with it were so flavoursome and crunchy. We dined here on the earlier side on a weekday night and were seated right away since it wasn't crowded at all. The room is super cozy with wooden tables and chairs and felt a bit like dining at a rare gem in the countryside - good energy all around. We feasted on seafood and a bottle of red, all at very a reasonable price. I appreciate that the menu seems to include wines produced only in Portugal and that the seafood is simple yet well-curated and really brings out the true flavor of the dish. The cod was a little overcooked and tough to chew but otherwise everything we ordered was delicious. Our server was attentive, has lovely manners, and patiently communicated with us in English since we don't speak Portuguese. This restaurant was recommended to us by a restaurant down the street as they were closed for renovations. We ordered soup, clams, tiger shrimp and octopus. The clam dish was very salty. The tiger shrimp was very good but the rice that came with it was horribly mushy. The octopus was tender but saltier than it should be. The restaurant people were pleasant, but as a whole we felt the food was only barely ok and nothing to wave about. Sadly as a whole we left feeling unsatisfied with our dinner. read more

My wife and I were in Lisboa last week and went to Restaurante Duque 2 nights in a row, and it was a highlight of our trip! The food was delicious, unique, and very affordable. I'm a vegetarian and my wife likes fish and meat (along with vegetables) and Restaurante Duque had great options for both of us. We recommend the octopus, mushroom risotto, vegetable strudel, seafood rice, goat cheese cigar, and couscous salad, but I don't think you could go wrong with anything you choose. Everything was so authentic and flavorful! Junior and Pedro were unbelievable hosts (and owners) - friendly, accommodating, and all of their recommendations were on point. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and their music playlists are fun and eclectic. This place is amazing! Anyone who goes to Lisboa NEEDS to eat here! (multiple times). My fiancée and I stumbled on this place late in our trip to Lisboa and our only regret was that we hadn't found it sooner. We loved everything about this restaurant. The waiter that welcomed us in and served us was friendly and patient, made excellent recommendations and cultivated an experience that was more than just about eating good food, but helped us to understand what might be paired well together and even gave us a little background about what we were eating. The ambience also added to this culinary joy- the restaurant felt tucked away in a quiet corner, like an oasis of calm that provided refuge from the heat and bustle of the busy city outside. Patrons seemed to be a mix of tourists and locals, with mostly Portuguese being spoken, but we conversed in English and Spanish with several "neighbors" too. Everything we ordered was delectable- green wine (with a lovely mint garnish), some of the freshest cheese (a mix of cow's and goat cheese that changed the way I think about dairy products forever), warm bread and delicious olives set us up right. Then we got a dish with fall of the bone tender lamb chops and hands downs the best tomato polenta I've ever had as well as the dish of the day, which offered perfectly seasoned pork chops, a fried egg, best rice we encountered on the whole Iberian peninsula and french fries that had these New Yorkers pinching ourselves cuz it didn't seem real! We let our waiter order dessert for us and he brought out this really light and airy traditional Portuguese cake that was both delicious and offered a perfect finish to a wonderful meal, since it was sweet but not too heavy. We would strongly recommend this place to anyone that can find it- by far both the best food and the best eating experience we had in Portugal!! read more

Great dinner! We made a reservation earlier in the same day we went. It is a cozy restaurant that holds about 30 people. You can have small plates or larger dinners. My wife and I went with small plates.We loved them! Had bread, olives, goat cheese cigar, rabbit croquettes, ceviche, black pudding. To start off, the food for the most part was delicious. We had orders of octopus, tiger prawns, black pork, and Portuguese small plates- all we really liked (especially the octopus). However, wait times are long, as we had to wait for about a half an hour. Other people had to wait for more than an hour. But, giving the benefit of the doubt, this restaurant is small, and popular. The staff are very warm and welcoming, and they speak good English. Because of the small environment, we were disturbed very easily (but that was also because of some noisy Americans sitting near us). My husband and I wondered past Duque one afternoon and decided to book a reservation "just in case." They had some vegetarian options on the menu, which are hard to come by in Lisbon, so we figured why not, plus it looked like a nice quaint, hidden spot and it's in a great location. I'm so glad we did! We had an AMAZING experience from beginning to end. The owner and chef (Junior and Pedro) double as the servers in this small, homey restaurant and they are incredibly friendly and offer wonderful advice. The tables are close together, so you get to be cozy with your neighbors, but you also get to see what others are eating, which helped me to order (you eat first with your eyes). We split the goat cheese cigar and I had the octopus (divine) and my husband had the mushroom risotto. We finished the night with an unbelievable caramel cake. They somehow strike the perfect balance between homey and elevated here. Their playlists are SPOT ON, the prices are great in my opinion (much more reasonable that what we would have paid in the states for that kind of food and experience). And most importantly, the food was just so good. We live in the DC area, where intimate, "foody" restaurants pop up almost daily and I'm positive this place would hold it's own here. I would definitely recommend making a reservaition to eat here - otherwise you may have to wait a while (but it would still be worth it!) We loved the food, the people, and the ambiance so much that we booked another reservation and came back again! I was worried that nothing would be able to match that first night, but I was wrong. We shared a cous cous and vegetable salad and entrees were the seafood rice and the vegetable strudel. Again - so delicious (I ate the rest of my seafood rice the next morning straight from the fridge)! Dessert was chocolate cake this time.
