If you're looking to escape tourism restaurants and get a true Portuguese meal this is the place for you! This restaurant is set aside on a smaller street away from some the hustle and bustle of the near by shopping areas. The inside is extremely intimate with a scattering of about 12 small 2-person tables. The tables can be combined to accommodate larger groups, but more than 6 people to a party would be pushing it. The walls are adorned with the lids of wooden wine crates, local artists works, and a hodgepodge of pottery. The tables are set on simple tan paper and a variety of mismatched vintage china plates. Charming would be an understatement. Wine bottles are stored in honey comb like cement structures lining the walls of the restaurant and the bar back. What was even better than the food and ambiance, the service. We felt very welcome even as clear American tourists. It made for one of our favorite meals while in Lisbon. Visitors have access to free WiFi.
We began our meal with the house specialty bread, cow cheese, olive oil and balsamic vinegar, as well as salty green olives. The cheese was excellent with a texture of a Brie but with a sharper taste of a Cheddar. The olive oil was succulent and paired perfectly with the bitter vinegar. We ordered a bottle of red wine featured in the photos that had a nice red fruit bouquet with a nice and dry finish. Additionally, we ordered the goat cigar as an appetizer! The goat cheese comes packed in what looks like a flaky spring roll filled with pine nuts that is accompanied by a fruity red jelly as a marmalade. I highly recommend the goat cigar as it was a yummy combination of the savory cheese, crunchy buttery crust, and the sweet jelly.
For dinner we ordered the tiger shrimp with mango rice. The plating was elegant and appetizing with the display of the fresh prawn with the colorful and flavorful rice. The rice had bits of fresh mango throughout that left me craving more. If you're looking for a romantic date in the city of Lisbon, make this your next stop! read more
