The space is really small and cozy, but I somehow got lucky and snagged a table for two, sans reservation, and only had to wait a few mins. For such a nice place, the prices here were pretty reasonable, and the portions were good. I ordered prawns to start off and they were delicious. For my main course, I ordered the duck and loved it as well. My boyfriend ordered bread (which he said was some of the best he's ever had) and the pork cheeks which he enjoyed as well. read more

I'm pretty sure...no wait, I'm positive this was the best restaurant in Lisbon. Think bistro in France but equate that with whatever you'd call a small restaurant in Lisbon. If you want a quaint intimate restaurant that will deliver an authentic and personable experience, come stop and have dinner and green wine! Food was perfect and service was amicable. Do start off on the bottom left side of the menu for "typical Portuguese food". After all, you're in Portugal. Don't be a loser and order something "typically American". From this set, we really enjoyed the braised tuna appetizer. Definitely an unique and flavorful preparation and easily an all around crowd pleaser. We also ordered the clams appetizer but it was more traditionally prepared but still absolutely delicious in all in garlicky gloriousness. Moving on to my octopus entree...wow, just wow. It was so amazingly tender, savory, and it was HUGE! Lasting remarks? Order a whole jug of the house green wine and get into the culture. Charming little place with delicious, reasonably priced food. Very solid service. Couvert is totally worth the 6E. Pork cheeks and whitefish were excellent, and the chicken gizzards were tasty. The fried bread served with the gizzards is something to crave on death row when planning one's final meal. Only shortcoming was the red wine by the glass was pedestrian at best. Easy walk from Lisboa Pessoa Hotel. Several locations on the street but we ate on the corner. We started with braised olives, bread & braised tuna with sweet potatoes in an excellent broth. Next we tried the ceviche - delicious. Lastly we had the roasted octopus- delicious. We were too full for dessert but it is served in cute little jars. We made reservations for dinner and dined here on a Friday night. We had the sea rice, octopus, sea bream and other things I can't remember but it was all pretty tasty. Started off with the braised tuna and might I just say, 'chefs kiss.' It was spectacular! I would come to this restaurant again solely for this appetizer. For the entree, I ordered the veal steak. It was a 1/10 and only gets a 1 because the side of vegetables were good. The veal was tough and had a horrible charcoal taste to it like it had been cooked in a dirty/burnt pan. I was disappointed. I recently visited Lisbon for a weekend so I made sure to maximize my time and only eat at restaurants that are not very touristy. I wanted the authentic mom and pop experience and I definitely got that here at Restaurante Duque. Spoiler alert: Duque is not pronounced as dookie. Nice try. Given past reviews with folks saying that you must get a reservation because it can get very crowded during the weekends, I took a risk, climbed up the hill, and stepped into this restaurant on a Saturday evening at 6pm. And I was the only customer there so I felt really lucky that I didn't have to wait in line or anything. Please note that I visited very recently aka January 2022 and tourist season doesn't start till the spring and summer so that might explain why I didn't have to deal with long lines. According to my waiter / host, most Portugese folks usually eat dinner at around 8pm. I came in way earlier than that so please plan accordingly with your party. I wasn't too hungry for dinner so I ordered two small plates: (1) fried prawns with rosemary, garlic, and citrus (2) colquette of Alheira (made of smoked sausage) I really enjoyed the fried prawns more than the sausage colquette given the following reasons: (1) The sauce in the fried prawns dish was zesty and bright - it was so creamy and delicious that I could have this with bread alone and call it a day. And yes, please remember to order a side of bread if you end up ordering the fried prawns because you sure don't want the sauce to go to waste. I also regret informing y'all that house bread in Lisbon is not as warm as one might typically expect in the states. I was a bit disappointed that my bread was more cold than warm. I am not sure if this is a cuisine difference type of thing. (2) The colquette was fine but nothing to brag home about. It's a good finger food if you have a larger party and you want to have something on the table before the main dishes arrive. Cost? Very affordable. I think I paid less than 20 euros for my meal. read more

Came here for dinner during one of our last nights in Lisbon after seeing good reviews and decided why not get on that awesome seafood! This place is small but when we got there it was quite busy. We went around 6 pm and luckily since there was a table open we were seated without a reservation. Once we sat down we ordered the following: Rabbit croquettes with marmalade - this was not good and tasted like it came straight from the freezer, I would pass this and try other items Shrimp in garlic sauce - this was shrimp in a butttery sauce and although I enjoyed the shrimp I felt that the sauce was not as flsvorful as it should have been Seafood rice - this was pretty good with a rice in a broth with tons of seafood like clams mussels and shrimp. Although the broth could have been more flavorful I enjoyed this a lot Tiger prawns and mango rice - this was the best! It came with three pieces of prawn and literally the rice was extremely flacorful! Would highly recommend one to try this Octopus - this was a little tough but huge portion that came with potatoes Fish - my dad ordered a seabass and loved it - in fact they gave the whole fish and was very fresh - would recommmend! My mouth is watering thinking about Restaurante Duque. This place is amazing. The servers are kind with awesome photo taking skills (lol), food is affordable and incredibly delicious, and atmosphere and decor is great. A must visit if anyone is a fan of seafood. Duque is so successful that a few doors down from their address is a second "room" to accommodate more diners. My party of 4 lucked out on a Sunday and waited less than 10 min, loved the food so much that we went back the next day. Food is fresh! So fresh. Their seafood rice is one of the best I've had. Small in size but packed with flavor. Shrimp is cooked perfectly here, so get all their shrimp dishes if you can. Calamari and mushroom risotto were also favorites and repeat orders.
