I went here with a friend who lives near Hradec Králové after walking around and admiring the city…read morecenter. I loved this pub! The interior has charming vaulted red brick ceilings, a sort of indie vibe from posters announcing local events, and a great soundtrack of retro mostly rock music. The large outside patio is pleasant and very welcome for folks wanting fresh air.
The Hostinec has a good selection of Czech beers on tap. They also prepare classic Czech pub fare such as nakládaný hermelín (a camembert-style Czech cheese that's marinated and served with bread), utopenci (pickled sausages), and the somewhat controversial beer cheese (reportedly similar to Limburger; I rarely see it on Czech pub menus any more). I had the tatarák, a traditional Czech take on beef tartare, served with topinky (fried toast) and garlic. I had not had tatarák in years and this did not disappoint.
I wish I hadn't had a late lunch or I would have tried some of the regular food as well. Everything about the Hostinec was great and I look forward to visiting again when next in Hradec Králové.
