We came to this place only because this place popped up first and happened to be the closest to us…read more I saw they take card and is good for children. Once we walked in the place was decently packed, however it was so quiet in here!! If we happened to fart the whole place would have heard it; it was THAT quiet. Everyone was whispering, and there was only one table left open, so we sat there. We noticed two other children in the place already had the high chairs and thankfully the last table was a booth. The menu has English below each item, so no need to guess or use google translate and the wait staff is also really nice. We both ordered the duck special. Supposed to be crispy duck with a cranberry, red cabbage risotto. Sounds really yummy and different right? Welllll it wasn't crispy, it was overly sweet and the taste didn't match the texture of the risotto. However my daughter loved the "risotto". We both were really excited about CRISPY duck. Well we got soggy duck with a whole lot of fat. I would come back, only to try the other meals. I wouldn't order the same thing again. Every dish that passed by was so colorful, decorative and looked hands down delicious. Also, I know it says kid friendly. But I personally didn't feel like it was kid friendly. It was a lot of older couples and groups in for lunch or drinks and every time my daughter did something everyone looked and rolled their eyes

Wow what can I say about this Franconian style restaurant. Just some back story. I flew into…read moreGermany about three weeks ago (2/2019) and first tried to go here on the Sunday I arrived. They were doing some remodeling so I was unable to get dinner. I tried this place one other time and could not manage to catch them while they were open. I was done and wasn't going to try again. Then I had randomly met a friendly local that suggested a restaurant up the street that had great local cuisine and when I asked which is was he said this place. I told myself I would try one more time and man am I glad I did. The food is all fresh, the liver dumpling soup they have is seriously crazy good and if I didn't tell you that's what it was you wouldn't know. I thought it was meatball soup when I got it. It rocked! It wasn't until a week later that I found out what it was. I also had several other dishes there that were all good but two really stood out. The snitzel and the cordon bleu were out of this world. Ok nothing in Germany is precooked or made beforehand like in the US. The seasoning on the crust on the Cordon Bleu was crisp and very flavorful with just the right seasonings and just the right amount of ham and cheese inside. It was magical. Like everywhere here the beer was awesome but the real star is the lady that waited on me. The last three or four times I was here she was really nice and always says hello when I see her around town. FYI they do have menus with English and do take American Express as many places do not here.

If you are in Erlangen and are looking for a solid Franconian region type restaurant, stop in to…read moreBlaue Traube and you won't be disappointed. I found this gem looking on my trusty Yelp app when in town and it was just a small walk down from my hotel, so it was a no-brainer. The restaurant itself is well maintained, clean, and has a charming atmosphere. Grabbing a seat, I was offered both a German and English version of their menu to peruse and select my choices. Service was nice and helpful, a positive service experience. The menu gives a wide variety of regional type dishes and entrees, good beer selection and other drink offerings. I chose the Jagerschnitzel the first time, a boneless pork cutlet with sauce and fresh mushrooms. It was served with French fries/pommes frites and a salad. The Jagerschnitzel was excellent, very flavorful and had a homemade like quality to it. Another entree I've enjoyed is the small pork filets in a pepper cognac cream sauce...so delicious! I was pretty impressed with my entree choices. They do take credit cards as well as cash here at the time of my visit, including Visa and American Express. Oh, and they do have a pretty spacious beergarden out back, in season of course. Bottom line: Blaue Traube is the "real deal" when wanting Franconian regional food, a good experience here all around. Selection and taste of entrees, atmosphere, and service are all great from my visits here.
