I should preface this review by saying that I am an American who moved to Linköping, Sweden at the end of July of this year, along with my Canadian boyfriend. That being said, we have been exploring and can't wait to embrace Linköping as our home until next Spring. We've been dining out and trying new places but, until this spot, I haven't been blown away by anything I've eaten. Until. This. Spot.
A few weeks ago, shortly after our move and while on a walk with my two dogs, I strolled past Restaurant Parisien. There were a few people dining on the sidewalk patio and, as I gazed inside, I noticed a plethora of other folks having their meals within the restaurant. I had walked past several other restaurants on my trot through town that days and the days prior, but the thing that struck me about this place was that ever single person seemed to be genuinely enjoying their meal and their drinks and their time there, overall. It was then that I vowed to try this place.
So, last Saturday, I did just that ^ with my always-hungry boyfriend in tow. Immediately, we were greeted by who I would later discover to be the owner. After we sat, we were promptly visited by our polite and friendly server, who I would later discover to be the owner's son. While virtually the entire menu called to us, we ended up ordering:
-Onion soup
(A lighter tasting version of what I'm used to tasting in the States but equally as satisfying!)
-Filet Mignon with Béarnaise and red wine sauce
(I dipped my potatoes and fingers in that delicious sauce. So yum.)
-Arctic Char
(Everything a fish dish should be. A large portion of fish, served with tons of complimenting dill and perfectly boiled potatoes)
Overall, I would rate my experience here as simply great. If you're in Linköping and you want a delicious meal, received by a lovable and gracious staff, while surrounded by a cozy and comfortable ambience then look no further than Restaurant Parisien. I'll be back very very soon. read more
