The restaurant has a very cafeteria-like vibe to it, and it was obvious that they served a lot more take-out than table dinners. We were met with friendly service, however, and everything was clean. We made an order of Antipasti Speziale, and a dish of Linguine Carbonara, both to share. For the price we expected to get a single dish with a som slices of meat and a bit of cheese. But to our surprise it was several courses of delicious antipasti. The first course was four simple Bruschette. I felt it could use a bit more garlic but my girlfriend was well satisfied. Shortly after we were served a glass of salmon tartar with creme fraiche which​ was very fresh a and quite well balanced. The dried bread for this however was not as good as fresh bread would have been. Then came the meat: Two kinds of sausages; truffle and paprika, prosciutto crudo, and bresaola with rucula and parmesan. - Delicous. At last we had two types of cheese; taleggio and pecorino which ended the parade. This was more than enough for us so we asked if we could get the Carbonara to go. No problem there. We paid at the counter and drove off. After a short while we couldn't restrain ourselves anymore, and had to try the Carbonara. It was a bit disappointing as it had a little bit too much sauce and could use some more salt, pepper and cheese. All in all finding Pasta e Basta was a very pleasant surprise, and we will be coming again when we travel across Funen.

Our expectations were not high from the external appearance of the building. We ordered off the regular menu and we all had hot ginger tea. Our order of spring rolls came quickly and we devoured them because we were hungry. All of us thought they were very tasty. When our dishes arrived in ten minutes, we started eating because we were still hungry. We turned to each other and each of us said our dish was very good. I had a pork dish and it was definitely good. One half was fried pork over rice noodles and the other half was a salad with carrots, cucumber, lettuce and cilantro. The dressing on the salad was quite good, as was the flavor of the pork. Our bill was very reasonable. If there is a downside it is very minor. The portions are on the small side. Our host in Odense said that he plans to head back to this restaurant for another meal or two.

Believe it or not, this is now one of the few options that you have to get your Danish street food fix, at a Vietnamese take away place. Sounds silly, but make no mistake, they carry the good stuff here (Steff Houlberg) and the prices are pretty competitive too. The main draw here is the take away, basically serving up all the staples you'd expect (and quite popular with the locals, it seems), but they operate a separate section, with its own Steff Houlberg counter, for the hot dogs. I don't remember it always being that way, so perhaps that's also a new change, but it is nice. You're able to queue up over there while you wait, rather than holding up folks getting their take away (and vice versa). Service has always been super friendly, and no complaints about the quality of the food. I can only vouch for the French hot dogs, but judging by the crowd sizes and the packed seating area, it looks like they must be doing something right on the take away side as well. Speaking of which, they offer a beautiful (and recently remodeled) seating area, right on the corner. Personally, I find it more practical to grab my hot dog and continue wandering around the mall, but to each his own. If you're in the mood for a Fransk while shopping at Rosengårdcentret, this is the place to get your fix, and competitively priced at that.
