Excellent German restaurant (formerly with attached butcher's shop, but not a supermarket) in a little village 6 km from Alfeld/Leine. Seasonally changing fresh ingredients, and on top of that, I can always get something gluten-free there, such as pork medallions, fresh matjes herring or chanterelles when they are in season. Check out the medieval Robber Lippold's Cave (Räuber Lippolds Höhle) nearby, a so-called earth stable that is connected to a local legend about a robber-knight and the daughter of the mayor of Alfeld whom he kidnapped and imprisoned there. read more
