They have a cozy atmosphere both inside and outside, the service is excellent (if we pretend no seeing the cyclo-pants on a young waitress), and they are pretty creative for Lipno standards as well. Coming for lunch, you would be pleased by a fresh and affordable menu (their soups are excellent, but the true is, that I am always nuts for good soups). The standard dinner menu is nice as well, creatively adopting local seasonal food like chanterelles ("lisky") and blueberries, but offering also quail eggs and snails, for those of us who want to go this route. Their pancakes are delicious ("Domaci livance s jahodovou omackou", 89 Kc) as well as our traditional Czech meals ("svickova", "koprovka", "kachnicka"). The wine list is OK, full of bottles from good Moravian wineries, and although the waiter has not been using the sommelier serviette while presenting us a sparkling wine Chateau Radyne Extra Brut at 389 Kc, it tasted super nice in the sweet Lipno sunset. We have been there for bowling a couple of times before, but the experience from their restaurant is just fresh and from today, and I think their chef (Tomas Martykan according to the Menu?) IS A GENIOUS! The potato dumplings from the Menu II (Roastbeef with spinach and potato dumplings at 119 Kc) were heaven, as well as the "zahour" on the wonderful Pancakes with blueberry sauce, in Czech "Livance s boruvkovym zahourem". They serve a good beer (Pilsner Urquell o,5 l at 41 Kc) and they have a good selection of Moravian wine from one wine maker, Petr Skoupil from Velke Bilovice (wine bottles are reasonably prized, from 168 Kc to 789 Kc, both white and red ones). One could argue that the service is a bit slowish and that you will not get a bread with your soup. But these are just a very small areas for improvement in the amazing performance of this team. Especially if you look at your lunch-for-two bill where we were paying 20 Euros all together, including one beers and three glasses of wine. Nice and quiet. So one would guess, that even the restaurant NEPTUNUS there would be the top notch. But that would be, unfortunately, and incorrect judgment, phh. This restaurant is not welcoming at all. We have visited it several times during the last two years, and our experience was never a good one. The problems start from the service. Those waitresses are not competent, not emphatic, and so slow! You need to remind them a couple of times, just that you have ordered a beer (some guests are using the self-service rather than relying on the terrible service)! The menu seems to be OK, but very little of the guests order main courses there. The reason might be that almost everything on the menu is in the category "minutka", which means mostly fried. We can't have believed that. No seasonal food. No local wine by glass. No Austrian wine by glass (Austrian border is 10 kms). You are offered a South African wine instead. The quests around us seem to be bored. Lots of them on their smartphones. My selection is a Drstkovka Soup/Czech Tripe Soup (35 Kc) and my honest recommendation is - avoid that dish! It is watery, oily and surprisingly there are not only tripes in it, but also some (leftover?) beef meat. Of course it comes without a bread ... I wanted to continue with the "Kureci spizy s arasidovou omackou" (Grilled chicken stick with a peanut dip), but I have changed my mind. This is the venue I will try to avoid next time.
