Place known for its beef and steak. You see folks, Auvergne is a very proud region, and the beef from the region is downright delicious. If you take the SNCF trains outside of Clermont you will see the most relaxed cows (you may see if your life) grazing and frolicking in the French countryside. Not sure if this is a reason the beef and cheese tastes so good from here but it must have something to do with docile nature of the cows.
I came here as a group and many of my lunch colleagues ordered steak. I decided to go with the cannibal meal. What is this you may ask? It's steak tartare for lunch. You order in weight size. I decided to go with 250g and what came out looked like mothers meatloaf before she would put it into the oven. However it was seasoned perfectly with capers and other spices and was amazingly delicious. With the big tartare serving was with beans and fries. During lunch we had ordered wine as well. This is quite different to the North American lunch. You see folks, in France the lunch is typically the biggest meal of the day. This was definitely one and with the wine I was fighting the sandman big time at 2:30 pm to keep those glassy eyes open.
The service was interesting. The server was jokingly insulting people and had a slightly sarcastic bark. This all with a nice polite touch as well can be seen at some restaurants as a classic French brasserie style. Overall we enjoyed our experience. read more
