Visited here on Monday, May 7th 2018. The physical space is very cool. We sat where we could watch…read morethe chef and his staff prepare the food.
Downstairs, there is a wine cave where a gentlemen lets you taste the house wine, and a selection of meats and cheeses. This was really, really neat!
The wine we had was excellent - Gran Siesta en el Tahuantinsuyu. A full-bodied, throaty blend.
I was disappointed in the food. My meat was good, but others commented that their steaks were very tough.
I was REALLY disappointed in the mashed potatoes, which were mildly warmed up on the outside and refrigerator cold on the inside. Terrible. I wasn't even mad they came out of a plastic bag as the taste was good. It's just like, okay, come on chef, I get it, you don't like hunter/gringos, but no need to be a jerk. Frankly, I think part of this was that we were gringos; which is fine, I get it. I witnessed the chef's visual annoyance that two guys at our table had ball caps on. And honestly, he had a point in being annoyed, but no need to just give up on providing a nice meal that we paid for.
If you're a local, you'll probably love this place. Or foreigners who stick to the dress code. But if you're like me and bring some friends who are not accustomed to fine dining, you may have a bad time. (And that's no fault of the host, in my opinion, who was extremely friendly).
All in all, 3 stars. The great wine selection and the cool cave are worth the visit.
