A great find in Amberg…read more While walking the quaint streets of Amberg, we decided to eat here. The we were seated quickly at a table with plenty of room for our party of five. I don't remember if there were English menus, but our waiter spoke English and talked us through our order. Everything about our meal was very good. The meat is cooked in an open grill, located in the bar area. You can see the magic as it happens. Again, the service was very good, my beer glass was never empty. Look at the pictures to see the quality of the food, and yes, I like my steak rare. We would return.

Allg. auch, dass hier eine zeitnahe Zu- oder Absage eintrifft und NICHT, dass der Kunde nach 5 Tagen kurz vor den Feierlichkeiten nochmals hinterherrufen muss, ob die Reservierung nun bestätigt ist oder nicht. 2) Wenn ein Restaurant eine zeitliche Begrenzung auf Tische vorhält, dann sollte das dem Kunden auch so VOR (spätestens bei/unmittelbar nach) der Reservierung mitgeteilt werden. Ohnehin ein absolutes Unding generell. Aber uns dann an meiner 60. Geburtstagsfeier rauszuschmeißen vor all und mit meinen Gästen ohne jegliche Vorabinformation, dass die Tische zeitlich begrenzt sind, ist das absolut Unprofessionellste was ich in meinem ganzen Leben erfahren durfte!!! Und auf meinen Hinweis, dass ich die Info bis dato nicht erhalten habe, mit den Schultern zu zucken und den dummen Spruch "...dann müssen wir das halt noch auf der Homepage irgendwann ergänzen..." abzugeben, ohne jegliche Lösungsoption war die Krönung des Ganzen. Wahnsinnig unprofessionelles (Fehl-)Verhalten des Restaurantpersonals und das bei einem für Amberger Verhältnisse nicht ganz günstigen Lokal. Das hat mir meine ganze Geburtstagsfeier versaut. With the steaks we had a trio of sauces served: herb butter, horseradish with cranberry, and a garlic sauce. The best was the horseradish. The three of us (husband, 8 year old, and myself) shared the 2 steaks and the sides of a baked potato, grilled vegetables, and garlic toast and were plenty satisfied! Not American portions but very filling. Worth the drive from Hohenfels.

The beer here is great. I strongly suggest the strong beer and Dunkel. If you get the strong beer it comes in an awesome mug, which you can by for 5 euro. The food is varied, not monster portions, but delicious and well plated. We all ate off each others plates and the venison, pork medallions, and pork shoulder are all great. Mine seemed a little dry, but there was ample beer sauce on my plate and when I ran the meat through it it made a perfect bite. You may not easily find this one, but it's worth the hunt. And they have English menus available if requested.
