Lovely restaurant with an exquisite design!! Restauracja Pod Retmanem had a royal design on the exterior with beautiful green vine backgrounds. Walking inside, I felt like I was in a fancy cuisine with decorated white walls, and a very wealthy European home feel. The floors were wooden with long tables and a nice yellow tablecloth draped over a white tablecloth. It also gave me a mini thought of a place to waltz when all of the tables are cleared out of the way!
First stop was the tuna salad! It was honestly delicious, especially for someone - ahem myself, who is NOT a big fan of tuna salad. The tuna was not overly salty, it was fresh and it really complemented to the cucumbers, tomatoes (I don't usually see this many tomatoes in my salad plate) and lettuce.
Next, we had a pork with gravy dish. Of course, similar to many places in Eastern Europe, it was served with potatoes. (Unlike America which is usually served with fries, Europe enjoys steaming the wedges or scooping a big scoop of mashed potatoes on your plate). The mashed potatoes were average, but the pork with gravy was fairly delicious.
I think my favourite part was the dessert - which was comprised of delicious fresh fruit such as blueberries, raspberries, peaches, etc. and placed in a cute, unusual silverware dish. It may have looked simple, but all of the colours were present and the fruit was freshly cut and delicious!! read more
