I have been to the Kelowna Sleep Clinic twice. I would have given 3 stars the first time, but only…read more1 the second. I compromised and gave 2. My biggest complaint the first time was that I was not prepared. I wanted to be able to stop on my way home, for coffee and breakfast. My hair is poker straight, thin, fine, no body, no direction. I curled it before going there, thinking that would do me until I got home. THINK AGAIN!! During the night, if I had to use the washroom, I had to call the tech to come and take me. He carried the 50 or so wires that were connected from head to toe. He did, at least, allow me to carry the wires into the washroom!! If nothing else, the bed was comfortable, and I got to sleep faster than I had expected to. In the morning, I was awakened at 6:oo AM, and taken to where the wires were to be removed. That took some time. He suggested I might feel better if I had a shower, and washed my hair. I was going to skip that, until I passed a mirror!! AAUUUGGGHHH!!!!! My entire head of hair was matted with the goop that was used to stick the wires to my head!!!! I HAD TO HAVE A SHOWER, or I was afraid someone would have me taken to the funny farm!!! I had not brought the tools to do my hair, so it hung down, stuck up, stuck out, etc. And I still didn't get out before 7:00!!! I will write a separate review for the second visit.

When you first go for your sleep analysis, this place appears to be run professionally. And my…read moretechnician was very friendly, courteous and professional. But once he told me it was time for "lights out" ... I could not believe the amount of noise that came from the hallways. Technicians were getting other patients ready for their sleep studies. Everybody was talking in full volume voices and at times they were talking right outside my door because it was straight across the hallway from where they prep patients. Doors were being shut and open with no care about trying to be quiet. It's already hard enough to fall asleep in a different location other than your own bed in your own home. So to have the added stress of trying to sleep with all of the wires (obviously necessary for the test) and the amount of noise in the hallways ... it ended up to be a horrible experience. The noise in the hallway greatly added to the stress and anxiety of the situation. Therefore it took me forever to fall asleep, even though I took a full sleeping pill which I never take at home. And I also had earplugs in! Then even during the night I was woken so many times by doors and voices. I doubt any patients were awake during the middle of the night. So I assume it was the technician's talking in the hallway because they were bored and had nothing else to do while the patients were sleeping. I considered this to be extremely rude and unprofessional to the patients trying to sleep. When I had my first sleep study done 3 years earlier in the old location, I do not remember hearing so much noise while falling asleep or during the middle of the night. But at their new location they can have more patients do sleep studies every night ... which of course means more noise. Then they could definitely make effort to be quiet and have doors on the rooms where they prep patients ... so that patients who are trying to fall asleep don't hear them talking. I ended up only sleeping 2.5 hours out of the whole entire night! What a great disappointment that was after making all of the effort to attend my sleep assessment. I felt they did not get a good reading of how many sleep apnea events I have per hour. My sleep apnea events per hour went down by a LOT compared to my 1st sleep test. There was no reason my score went down and I had asked for the 2nd sleep test because I thought might sleep apnea events had increased. So in my opinion the results of my testing were skewed because of my lack of sleep due to the noise. My sleep was extremely fitful due to all the noise and I even took a full sleeping pill. I was very disappointed that they weren't more professional by being quiet while the patients were trying to sleep for the extremely important sleep assessment they were participating in. Seemed counterintuitive for the whole sleep study. I doubt I will ever go there again for another sleep assessment.
