I finally got to try out the "Ultra Cinema" here for the very first time! It was an "OK"…read moreexperience--think comfy reclining seats that practically invite you to nap, ticket comes with a popcorn (you can choose between cheese and BBQ) a regular Coke and a small bottled water. The ticket was about 100 pesos more than what I usually pay at our go-to spots (like Aura, Venice, and S-Maison). That extra hundred did make me raise an eyebrow and wonder, "Is that second drink really worth 100 pesos? " A couple of things to note: you need to grab your snacks before heading to your seats. It's not quite the VIP treatment you get at Venice, where your food are already waiting! The seating arrangement is definitely designed for couples, which is sweet! But if you're a group of three like we were, you might find one person playing an impromptu game of "sit-with-a-stranger" with the person next door. They do have little dividers, but they're shy and don't quite block out your neighbor completely. The screen felt a tiny bit smaller than what I'm used to, and I found the audio just a touch lackluster. Maybe I can watch a movie again here if I'm already in the area. But if I'm travelling from home (or from the office), I can't justify swapping out my usual cinema spot for this one just yet.

UPTOWN TEMPUR CINEMA= AN EXPERIENCE!…read more It costs more but it's well worth it! *Especially, for a date hahaha Each movie ticket includes a soda, water, macaroons, and a panini which was super good! If you want to order more snacks, a person will take your order and bring it to you! The bed is very comfy and for each side of the bed, the area for your legs and head can be adjusted for your comfort while you eat and/ or watch the movie. A blanket is provided to ensure you don't get chilly in the theatre. Arrive there when the movie is scheduled to start because the doors do not open earlier! *I went to see "Hello, Love, Again" during its opening week and I was disappointed to find out that the souvenir cup that is free for people who hold non tempur cinema tickets are not given to people with tempur cinema tickets. Given that these tickets are more expensive, we should've received them too!

There are some good…read moreones in Podium, in Greenhills and in Greenbelt but if you're in an SM Mall, you can expect crowds and older seats. That is until you discover Director's Club Cinema. This is more my style than the big cinemas. It feels like you're watching in a private theater with an audience limited to 25 or so people. I love that they use real La-Z Boy seats and not the fake recliners that are not at par with the real thing. The hefty price comes with unlimited popcorn and drinks. Although it's not as romantic as watching in a regular cinema with your loved one where you could be hip to hip (literally), I do love the space. The legroom is awesome - you could fit an entire row in front. I love that I could quietly watch my movie and feel like I'm just at home in a very expensive seat, getting popcorn served without having to get it myself. It really is a movie watching experience fit for a diva.

I haven't encountered a La-Z boy chair that I wasn't comfortable in. The idea of watching a movie while seated in one sounds very appealing, doesn't it? Well, try adding a butler service with unlimited popcorn and drinks at your disposal while you are it. The set up of these chairs are at good levels that the ones in front of you do not block your view of the screen regardless of how reclined you are. The only downfall perhaps would be how far apart you are from your seat mate because of a table placed in between seats; but then again, that could also be a huge perk to avoid talking to each other. The cinema's sound system is similar to that of IMAX so it's really good. I've been very happy with my movie experience in this cinema. The 450 pesos I pay is totally worth the movie with all of these freebies.

(Of course, besides…read morethe featured film being enjoyable at the very least, but that is something they cannot always help.) Honestly, I don't need mind-blowing technology like an overwhelmingly oversized screen, and smokes and mirrors; all I need are fine comforts combined with well-maintained facility. Of course, first would be great snacks. Apart from the standard popcorn, Power Plant has Buy The Bucket and Potato Corner. I usually get the tofu chips with sour cream and cheese sauces from the former, or barbecue fries from the latter. Either of the two goes well with a tall glass of rootbeer. Then, the aircon gives off that cardigan temperature and the floors are clean. The seats are comfy too, meaning, the cushions still have that nice luxurious bounce and the hinges don't squeak when I shift my body every time something riveting happens onscreen. Also, there's enough space: the head of the guy in front of me doesn't block any part of the screen, the leg room is ample and there is enough distance between me and the people beside me. (We could be the closest of friends but any relationship is destined to end badly the minute a person ruins a movie moment for me.) Most of all, in my entire history of watching at Power Plant, I don't remember having to share the theater with an ignoramus who behaves like he's in a conference room. I don't know if I've merely been lucky with this particular place but this is simply one of my biggest pet peeves and I swear I have employed the help of powerful witches in seeking revenge from loudmouths who have done much less.

I'd say this theater is at par with Gateway's for the comfy seating and capacity, and immersive viewing. I just find the picture of lesser contrast but their sound quality makes up for it though it can be too blaring at a point. Ranging from Pho240-260 a seat, it's a deluxe choice for a movie given Power Plant Mall is one of the more upscale shopping areas. Not too shabby but they really have to renovate their washrooms to compete with Century City that's just down the street.

BUT, there is the rare moment that I must watch a movie so that I get the FULL experience. Of all the cinemas, I choose to watch at Promenade Cinemas. Their cinemas are great because of the ambience, coziness, and not to mention the great sound system. If you can, try watching your movies at the Dolby Atmos cinema. Also, an essential element to the movie, the popcorn. Their popcorn is always buttery and evenly coated! LOVE IT! :) I always order a bucket for myself (hehe!). Best of all, cinema is always clean and their comfort rooms are spotless! Promenade Cinemas are excellent! You will get your money's worth + the best movie experience! :D

I like watching in Promenade because the cinemas and bathrooms are always clean, the seats are comfortable and they've got more than enough snack options close by. If I'm craving something salty, I buy the popcorn or fries. If I'm looking for something sweet, I buy an almond pretzel from Auntie Anne's. Another thing to consider is that they've got a big Fully Booked branch on the same floor so I usually browse through their new titles before heading in to watch the movie. That or I get lost in the haven of household items that is Gourdo's or the obsessive compulsive's organizing paradise, Beabi. The cinema also prides itself in having the Dolby Atmos sound system in some of the theaters so that's something to keep in mind when you're looking for an immersive cinema experience. Also, Greenhills is always packed on weekends so if you plan on watching a film that's just opened, either come early to buy tickets or prepare to watch at a later time. That also means that parking in the area can be challenging. If you hate to wait, take advantage of the mall's valet service. If there is anything to complain about, it's that their air conditioning is almost always turned up high, so bring a sweater or someone to hug. Or both, I recommend having both.

All of the Hollywood, foreign, and local Tagalog films are usually sreened in this cineplex. During long and boring breaks in college, my friends and I would watch movies in all the cinemas in Makati. And we've learned that the first place to go to when you want to see a movie is Glorietta 4's cinema. See, they offer more choices and they usually have the new movies. Sometimes, it's cheaper to watch a film here! Because more and more people are finding out that this place isn't that bad, it gets pretty packed. The lines on the opening day and weekend for Avengers: Age of Ultron were pretty long and the whole floor was packed with people. The guards here really check your bags and there have been times when my friends and I were made to leave our cameras with the guard. I suggest reserving or buying your tickets online if you're seeing a really popular film at peak hours. If not, just buy the ticket when you get there. Don't forget to get some snacks while you're at it.
