Considering a full repipe? This is a buyer's market, so it's worthwhile to run a Google search and ask for a quote from a couple of the keyword hits. At a minimum, you can bounce their sales pitches off each other (i.e. the pros/cons of "contractors" aka "franchise owners," does your antique clawfoot tub really need anti-scald valves to get up to code, etc.). The sales guys follow relentlessly. Repipe Specialists came in at the best price because they were willing to decrease their scope (i.e. not upsell us on hardware, not dig up the yard to the main, and let us handle patching). They had a guy come out a few days in advance to show where they would need access so that we could preserve historic siding. They also left us a lot of option hookups for when we eventually get around to figuring out final layouts. They came at 9AM and were done by 6PM the same day. They passed inspection with no rework. In contrast to other reviews, our house was filthy, so not only did they cover everything, they left it cleaner than they found it. While some teams may operate differently, ours shut off the water before cutting into anything. It sucked at the time (I drank too much coffee), but I'd take discomfort over ineptitude. Subtracting a star because there were so many points of contact. The work itself was done exactly as discussed with the sales team. However scheduling their arrival time, inspection time, and payment logistics could have been tighter so we could get back to work. read more

John, the representative gave us a thorough explanation of the work that would be done to re-pipe our house instead of just repairing a pin hole leak in the copper pipe set in the cement foundation. The estimate for good quality copper re-pipe was a fair price since they had a team do the work (plumber, drywall repair and plasterer). The workers were all expert in what they did and cleaned up all areas. The patching and plastering was done so well on the exposed ceilings and walls that the repair is not even noticeable on our white walls and all will be invisible when we paint the rooms. i would strongly recommend against using this company. a few years ago, they came out to repipe my house. the first thing they did was cut into a wall, and start cutting a pipe ... WITHOUT having shut off the water main to the house. water sprays everywhere. turns out they had turned off the wrong valve outside, but had not bothered to check whether the water was actually off, or to drain the water left in the pipes (you know, by running a faucet for a moment). the work they did failed initial inspection, because they had not strapped pipes correctly in the garage and in other places. our neighbors had a repipe done by them as well; and their experiences tended to be even worse. they had to run pipes on the neighbors' roofs, which they insulated with the wrong type of insulation, so the neighbors now have cold water that comes out hot in the summer. stay away. read more

They said they would (1) be there at 8am, (2) get the job done by the end of the day except for patching the drywall (which would be done the following day), (3) work hard to minimize mess and (4) clean up thoroughly. John B. Repipe Specialists was the third contractor I contacted for information and pricing on a repiping job for the Mobile home my wife and I live in here in San Jose, Calif. Their Estimator, Randy was here at the time he said he would be, and in fact was a few moments early and sat out side my house until it was the time he said he would be here . That impressed me as I used to do that when I was running my own company. I would rather be 5 or 10 minutes early and wait until it was time for my appointment than be 2 minutes late for an appointment. Randy took the time to listen to what I wanted to accomplish on the project and then we both did a walk thru and he looked at the areas we were talking about and even opened cabinets to look at the risers from the feeder line to the fixtures, before sitting down and working on a Quotation right then and there. He explained the procedure and There was no pressure to make a decision then and there and he gave me a few days to decide, and followed up when he said he would. They were the middle quote I received. The installation crew showed up on time as well and were well prepared and equipped to start the job right away. I had to have my rental house in RSM re-piped late last year after experiencing a pretty severe slab leak (following numerous smaller pinhole leaks over the years; not unusual for south county homes built in the early 2000's). I called out 4 companies to provide bids. All the companies were about the same in price; I think they all use the same estimation method. I chose Repipe Specialists because Rafael provided me with the most comprehensive information about the Pex product and the process and gave me a sense of confidence about the company. He carries around samples of old copper, new copper, and Pex pipes in his trunk that he will show you. Rafael was able to get my house scheduled for the re-pipe on the next Saturday (at my request). The crew of 4-5 guys arrived around 7:30am and finished the re-pipe and restored water flow by around 4:30pm. The holes in the walls remained open until Tuesday when the city inspector came out and signed off on the work. The sheetrock crew started their work on Wednesday and finished up on Friday morning. The process was really smooth; these guys have it dialed in. The quality of workmanship on the plumbing was great. The quality of workmanship on the sheetrock left a little to be desired. I had to request they re-do a number of areas before I signed off. They seemed somewhat annoyed by this. Overall, I'm giving them a 4 star rating, the only deduct being for the sheetrock work (had the quality of work been better, the third day would not have been necessary). When we initially got our quote, the inspector gave us great tips on the install and even saved our shiplap in our dining room and downstairs bath that a few other companies said they would have to cut through. Add at least a $ 1000.00 to the quote. What they tell you and what you get is different. 6 month after the re pipe and still not signed of by the inspector. Some issues: Going from Copper to Pex requires grounding rods to be installed by an electrician, they did not mention this. The Patching is horrible and Matching the finish is not what they do. I had to hire someone to redo every wall. Inspectors had 7 rejections on the job. Using the wrong parts, patching the outside with no wiring, selling us a Pressure regulator that is not allowed etc etc. They left a Huge mess, when I asked them if they were going to clean it up, they said it was not their job. Overall, bait and Switch, after the job is done, No help with inspection or any issues. Like i said It's been 6 month and it's still not signed off by the city. Good luck using them !! read more

It's been 2 weeks since these guys were here and all is great! Good water pressure everywhere. MAJOR suggestion - if you have a 2nd floor far away bathroom and been running the hot water tap a long time to finally get hot water, do a return line and add a Grundfos recirculation pump. We did, it cost extra and now we get hot water in about 2 seconds. I suspect this will pay itself off in lower water bills over about 2 years - never mind how much water isn't just going down the drain. Finally, a big shout-out to the crew that did this job!! We contracted to repipe our house after having multiple slab leaks with our copper pipes. Repipe Specialists came out and did the work fairly quickly. We experienced three issues. 1. One of the fittings installed was not fastened correctly and the next morning we had water raining down in our family room. After making a call, a supervisor came out and fixed the issue. 2 - We did not realized it until several weeks after the repipe, but our family room ceiling fan/light was not working. I had to open the ceiling to trace the wiring only to find that when the repipe was done upstairs, someone had cut the power line in the wall under the sink. The only thing this affected was the downstairs ceiling fan/light. I had to run new wire between the floors and repair the ceiling. There was no doubt this was a result of the repipe work. 3 - a year and a half after the job was completed we received a letter in the mail from Repipe Specialists with the words "YOUR ACCOUNT IS PAST DUE" in large red letters on the front of the envelope. We had to go back through records to verify whether or not we had paid this in full. We did not have anything done on account so we were not past due. We found that the group that did the final work should have collected before they left and did not. We had no issue with paying, but the past due note on the mail was very unprofessional. I can only assume that Repipe Specialists does not value word of mouth advertising or referral business. In dealing with them on this issue they assured us that they had sent several notices, which in reality we never received. Since it took them more than a year and a half to address this, I question their record keeping, and certainly their professionalism. read more

They installed my copper repipe several years ago. Plumbing works, but the water hammer has gotten worse. Had to get up in the attic myself and inspect. They didn't tie nearly anything down with straps. And the only pipe holes they were filled were the ones in the garage that were easily visible. Not the ones in the walls. I've been tying them down and filling the wall holes myself. What a pain. If you hire the people, make sure to inspect the work or have it inspected. read more

We decided to go with this company after receiving 2 other quotes. Repipe offered several discounts as well as the drywall repair was included and not contracted or referred out. All on all about a $700 savings from the 2 other companies. Raphael came out, gave us a long back story of the history and reputation of the company. Gave what we thought was a very thorough walk thorough and discussion. He asked specific questions regarding how our 50 year old pipes were ran and made suggestions and assured we could continue to run the or the same way, assured they wouldn't have to cut into a bedroom, that 2 other companies without the lengthy history and reputation said we we would have to. We discussed all areas that needed to be cut into, where the walls would be disrupted for this work, again things I asked based on 2 other bids. A week later we gave our deposit and scheduled the work. 10 men come out ready to work, the leader on the project explains what need a to be done. He says they can't run the lines as states because it isn't to code, he explains they have to cut into one bedroom wall because it is the only way to remove the old pipes . He further explains they have to remove a large wall mirror to access pipes in another bathroom wall. 2 of these items Raphael said 'yeah yeah, no problem.' The wall mirror was never addressed. When I called to Raphael after putting these 10 men and the job on hold he was defensive he back pedaled and said 90% of the time he is right, this will only be the 2nd job he was wrong on and the job was canceled. I was very upset as we prepared our home moving furniture for access etc based on the description Raphael gave us. We were in a rush to try to move everything figure out how to remove this huge mirror mounted the wall etc. Raphael didn't reassure we could get this right. Talked over me defending with his experience and again with his own resume over the phone and said he gave us information based on what he knew and it was ultimately up the crew that arrives. Talked like a salesman, not someone who does the work clearly not as educated in his his field as was pitched and then said he would refund us and to never call his company again and hung up. When I called the company to complain and asked for his manager I received no call. I'm happy to go with another company he even gave me a break in the price as a thank you for choosing them and in apology for this companies behavior. We had a slab leak. We got 4 local plumbers to assess situation and make recommendations. Some recommended to reroute some pipes, but couldn't guarantee that it would fix problem as they had trouble identifying exact location of the leak. Many houses in the neighborhood have had slab leaks, so I consulted with others, and one neighbor had used Repipe Specialists and recommended them-said they were less expensive. We got one local estimate for $35,000 and another for $20,000 for a whole house repipe and we would have to hire somebody else to patch the drywall. We called Repipe Specialists--and made an appointment for Saturday. The sales representative was very knowledgeable and explained the entire process. He said they would do the repipe job in one day--and patch the drywall the next day. The price was a fraction of what the others wanted to charge. I was pretty convinced that the repipe would be done right, but I was concerned about the drywall repair quality. He told me there would be about 100 holes--it was concerning to see a beautiful house hacked up and he was right--about 110 holes. But they draped off the work areas, so there was no dry wall dust on carpet or furniture. As promised the repipe was done in a day. The water pressure in the showers are better and they put in new fixtures in bath and shower heads. When the drywall patchers came, I was pleasantly surprise how good they were. About 70% of the holes were in the ceiling of first floor and the texture matched so well, I didn't even have to repaint the ceiling. The wall texture matched well but I had to repaint those areas. Fortunately I had saved the paint formula, was was able to match the paint color, so only had to repaint the patched areas. I am not one to write reviews. First time in 20 years. Next was "patching day" again the workers were friendly and went straight to work... took the whole day, but when finished, the place was ready for paint. If I could reiterate what others have said: Do the prep-work that they recommend... get EVERYTHING moved and out of the way, have clear paths to each location. April fools day 2021, the first time out of covid quarantine, we left our house for a few hours only to come back and find a pipe had burst and flooded our basement. We contracted Repipe of Utah to replace our old pipe with Repipes patented PEX pipe....it's very expensive! What you see is not what you get the plumbers they sent looked like gang members. Even our neighbors were taken back. I have to say the Repipe plumbers lacked quality workmanship! Granted Repipes patented pipe looks beautiful but the craftsmanship in which it was installed was subpar at best! Their Repipe installers made many errors in their install and also broke building code by not having a journeyman plumber here at all times....apprentices we're here alone for at least four hours without supervision from a journeyman plumber. I will name a few of the errors made on our May 2021 install: 1) Reversed hot and cold water in the main floor bathroom, downstairs bathroom and laundry room. 2) Scratched my Toto toilet seat in the upstairs bathroom with a plumbing tool (they replaced the seat). 3) Instead of coming through the bathroom wall they drilled a hole in my nice tile floor without even calking the opening so If the toilet over flows the water will drain downstairs! Nobody ever talked to us about doing that! It also now makes it difficult for me to clean by the toilet! 4) One of the apprentices admiring my nice stainless steel wolf stove ran his hand across the top of the stainless steel while having pipe dope on his hands and ruined the finish of my nice stove. I keep cleaning it but the haze keeps coming back. 5) Because if the plumbing errors made, Repipe sent a second crew to fix first crews mistakes by fixing reverse hot and cold water connections. a)The laundry - they said it could not be corrected so that is a permanent reminder of Repipes incompetence! b) The downstairs shower faucets - they broke our Moen valve (we called another plumber to replace it which cost $200...Repipe reimbursed us.) c) The main floor bathroom - second crew said the pipe was not long enough so in order to fix it they had to make many connections using regular PEX piping and crimps not the patented plastic pipe and fittings (looks like the spaghetti bowl) I thought voided their warranty? 6) Repipe sent a 3rd crew - to replace the connection under main floor bathroom sink because it was leaking. (Not sure if that is the cause of an apparent leak in our downstairs bathroom ceiling which nobody has repaired or checked out. 7) Lastly Repipers made their connection to the main water line by the shut off valve inside our house enlarging the size of the hole with a drill around the incoming water pipe coming through our foundation. Thus making the previous tight fit exponentially bigger around the incoming water pipe. By doing this, it went against IPC Plumbing code by not caulking interior foundation hole compromising the integrity of our foundation thus making water leak in. The increase in the hole from inside that the repipers made and not sealing it up in anyway is what led to the water leaking in from outside. The only thing that changed our homes existing conditions in 20 plus years was Repipe connecting to our main water line shutoff valve. We hired a leak specialist at extra cost to us to seal the shutoff valve connection which repipe plumbers should have done had they followed IPC Plumbing code. In short, Repipe is responsible for the leak that followed. Repipe let us down and is not the company we were led to believe. Not only is Repipe not taking responsibility for the domino affect caused by their sloppy work but the grief and anxiety it has caused my husband I who are in our mid 70's. Because of that leak and Repipes's incompetence, our new carpet of just a week was ruined and Repipe refuses to reimburse us the $1500 it cost us to replace. Also Repipe does not have their own plumbers they don't pull up in a Repipe truck but rather contract to outside plumbers. Buyers beware! read more

They are like a factory assembly line when the work started. Six or more guys showed up (3 or 4 trucks), covered our carpet & personal stuff, sealed off rooms with plastic, and completed the repipe in a less than a day! Amazing! The whole process (city permits, drywall repair) took 3.5 days. Drywall repair took a day and a half. Can't even tell that our home had a hundred holes. The repairs were perfectly done. We totally underestimated the severity of the construction. It's pretty crazy. Prepare yourself well if you decide to repipe. 25 yr old dust from inside the walls all come out.
