Intentionally gave my minor child's medical records to a friend without myself or my husbands…read morewritten or verbal consent. They admitted to their wrongdoing and what they have done, apologized to me. However, nothing is being done to the doctor even though the doctor wrote in my child's chart that under her authorization that the staff is to release my child's records to her friend with her authorization when the staff tried to stop this person from accessing the records because there was no authorization from mom or dad. The manager then confirmed there was no written or verbal authorization and she reported it but that all they will be doing is retraining the staff... so its okay to violate a minors privacy? Its okay to release records to friends of the practice? This is unethical. I am livid with all the proof we all have with her using her authority to do something illegal she is only being retrained? That the doctor is not being suspended because of her age and years with the practice. This doctors name is Doctor Janet Newcomer. Do not go to her. She bullies her staff into releasing records to personal friends of hers. I am so mad. My child's privacy is important and even the boss told me she had no authority to do that without my consent because my child is three years old!! Funny how they admit the wrongdoing, give me more details of the events that happened and how that person got my childs records mailed to their personal home and how they are sorry but wont suspend or do anything other than retrain the staff because hands are tied....It doesn't seem like this practice cares. Even with an apology more needs to be done than retraining.

I went to Dr. Levine as my pcp and gyne for a couple of years…read more When I was having regular migraines out of the blue, she said she didn't know why, and said they probably weren't migraines (they were localized headaches with an aura and vomiting). She prescribed me an antidepressant, with no other follow up to try and determine the cause. I didn't like the drug, so I tapered off of it. At my next appt, she just shrugged her shoulders and didn't offer any other tests or solutions, than to say it might be an allergy. (After about 2 years, the migraines stopped as suddenly as they started.) I had a mole removed that she said she wasn't going to bother sending for biopsy, even though it had become itchy and reddish. Then the kicker was when I went in after having menstrual spotting every day for over a month. I told her that my periods had always beem highly irregular (I was in my late 20's at this point) and that despite not using an sort of birth control regularly, I had never gotten pregnant. She said that it sounded on paper like PCOS but that she wasn't going to test me for it because I don't "look like" I have it. Then she said I probably can't have kids, and that's that, and sent me out thw door to schedule my next routine appt. I did not schedule another appointment. A couple of years later my husband and I started trying to have a kid. I skipped the ob-gyn and went straight to a fertility specialist. Not only was I immediately diagnosed with PCOS that I've likely had since puberty, but the years of not being diagnosed and treated for it had lead to a precancerous endometrial growth. The best thing I ever did for my health was to find a different doctor.

Never did I think that after moving from the medical mecca of Boston would I find better care in…read morePittsburgh. However, Dr. Levine is an engaged, patient physician who took the time to look at my health carefully and holistically. She takes a measured approach that I really liked, taking my concerns to heart while not pushing me towards unnecessary diagnostics. Really top notch all around!
