They were very busy, so it took quite awhile to get our food. I ordered the Big Reg breakfast. It came with pretty standard items, except no bacon or sausage, although my husband ordered a side of bacon with his. Everything was fluid, just not spectacular. Our son ordered the Blowhole Roll sandwich which came with a hashbrown. He enjoyed it. We all also had various coffee drinks. Since it was a public holiday, there was an extra surcharge added to the bill. The servers worked hard and were friendly.

We chose to experience the "tasting menu with matching wines". $190 later (2 people) we were underwhelmed by the food (lack of flavour and dry chicken dish) and almost completely sober. I've been a fan of this restaurant for many years, but it pains me to say it, this experience was.... meh...... extremely average.

But ours turned out to be a very good dining experience. Linen, very attentive waiter service, and an attractive menu were all good signs. We shared a starter of grilled cuttlefish that was cooked and seasoned just right. My main was slices of pork and apple with "the ultimate" crackling. The portion size caused my eyebrow to rise, but by the time I finished mopping up all the bits of sauce and spice I was indeed full. The wine list had nice by-the-glass options that made it possible to match something appropriate for each dish. Definitely on the fancy side, and just on this side of reasonable value for money, but a good dining experience with some attentive food preparation and service.

We had to wait over an hour for a table for 2! So wondered down the lane and came across Humber Bar. What a great find. The multi level bar had a great relaxed vibe. It had a mixed crowd they were mostly young but to be expected on a Friday night. We were shown to the rooftop bar, as they were at capacity downstairs. It's not a tall building and you are dwarfed by other buildings but there are no windows looking down at you and it was a comfortable spot. Ordering is done through your phone at the table. Simply scan the code, pick what you want, paid through Apple pay and drinks arrived in minutes. Since we were hungry and had about 90 minutes to wait (9pm dinner) we ordered some fried cauliflower (good) and hand cut chips (bad/soggy and greasy). The cocktails were average and i would have been better off going for a beer or 3.. Overall a great venue but could use a bit more attention to detail in their food and cocktails. The service was friendly and i could have happily stayed for hours but had to move on to dinner. A summers evening would be brilliant on the rooftop bar.
