It was incredible - the seemingly endless and overwhelming amount of issues we had she was able to concisely and efficiently clear up in the VERY FIRST SESSION! She was able to make a very messy relationship all of the sudden seem much more clear. My husband really liked her approach and immediately made the next appointment with her all by himself (!!!) - this was the guy who didn't even want to go to therapy in the first place! Jennifer reminded us WHY we were together and was able to pinpoint the exact hurdles we needed to face to continue onwards. She made us see that these hurdles were in fact, completely manageable, we just needed to change our perspective. Our sessions with her have become our "date night" and we always feel so much more connected after seeing her. She is straight forward, honest, insightful, and best of all - she gives you a PLAN. She has a very proactive approach, unlike other therapists we had seen that just wanted to mess around with the past without coming up with anything to help us progress. I went to her office for a free consultation visit. I gave her a 1500 dollar check for future medical services as a concierge doctor and scheduled an office visit for a general checkup a week later. When I arrived for the visit and told her I was not feeling well, she told me I was "too sick" to be seen and she told me to leave.She told me,"I don't want my staff to get sick." She never even bothered to examine me . That is complete medical neglect. I called the credit card company to dispute the 1500 dollar credit charge. I told her she would be reported to the medical board. I just received notice from my Medicare office that she billed them for a " free" consultation visit and the visit she threw me out of the office. I called Medicare immediately to dispute the charges. I received back my 1500 dollars. I will wait to see what comes from my dispute with her Medicare charges.

I have had positive experiences with her when dealing with routine health matters and also with a scare I had with what seemed like heart symptoms. She is a straight shooter, very helpful to discuss medical issues with and provides excellent, clear and respectful answers to every one of my questions. . I wouldn't call her "warm and fuzzy" but I wouldn't call her "cold" either. She is very invested in her patients and cares by providing excellent professional care, with respect, accessibility, and responsiveness- that's what matters most to me! . I referred my discerning (e.g. picky, for good reasons) college age daughter to her as well and she has had very positive experiences as well. Seems like people primarily write reviews when they are ticked off about something. There is an annual fee, of $300+ but my daughter and I split it. It's not a big deal to me because I know that when I need her to jump on it -- talk to insurance, write a letter to document something, whatever, she will take care of it right away.

They pushed on me to do zoom but I really wanted an in person appointment. So, they kept my scheduled time. And now this morning, I was called again while on a meeting and the voicemail said "can you change your appointment to tomorrow at 3:30. As of now your appointment has been rescheduled unless you call us back". I then called back, said that didn't work and was told I can't keep my original appointment unless I want to do it via zoom. I'm sorry but when it comes to mental health and talking intimate details to someone, I personally want to be seen in person which is why I made the appointment I did in the first place. I cancelled my appointment and am going elsewhere. This place is not very professional when it comes to scheduling and really push to do everything via zoom. It's unfortunate especially in a town that doesn't have a ton of mental health resources. I will be going elsewhere

Have had good experience with her Sacramento provider for years. The problem is their billing department which debited $560.00 out of my family member's bank account before the telemedicine visit was over. Billing depth claimed her insurance wasn't active . But there's been no change to her insurance. Still no refund and it's been almost 2 months now of waiting after calling billing department several times. What a shameful unethical business practices to require a card be on file and then to debit $560.00 with no notice. Adding that kind of stress to someone's life when they are seeking mental health support. It's like they don't even care what kind of financial hardship they cause to people who may be living paycheck to paycheck, may need that money to pay other bills or for groceries or to care for their family. I've never seen a medical office take that much money out of a bank account without asking. And if there is an issue with the insurance their billing department should call the person first before they allow them to make an appointment. To say that Elaina has been helpful, would be a gross under statement. I initially met with Elaina to work on my eating disorder and depression. However, I got so much more. One of my favorite things about Elaina is that she listens and provides ideas/wisdom that have truly helped me work through some very deep rooted issues. In the past, other therapists would do a great job listening, however, when it came time to provide tools, ideas or feedback... they fell short. She has helped us with significant and very difficult situations with one of our kids. Our son trust Elaina and has benefited tremendously from their sessions. Elaina is calm, insightful and smart. She has become a great resource to me as well as my family. Unlike other past therapists, she never provides unnecessary sessions. Her integrity is impeccable. We know a lot of people in Napa and coincidently we know several people who work with her and feel the same. We all LOVE her! I would HIGHLY recommend Elaina as an amazing LCSW. We live a better life thanks to Elaina Scrutchins.

Why would someone in a position to ask questions and help others communicate have such a hard time…read morecommunicating and answering questions herself? Elaina's day job is at Napa Hospital where she works in clinical care. In that capacity where the patient has no choice or perhaps with children (who don't have questions or the intelligence to question her) I am sure she is good at her job. In her private practice however... She has a very, very slow style of communication (10 mins of silence per hour at least) and saying "um" at least every 5 words. When every minute with her is costing you over $2 this is unacceptable. The long silences also give you the impression she was never prepared or had an agenda even though goals of what we had hoped to accomplish were laid out on the very first meeting. Visited with Elaina a few times and found it to be unhelpful because of the lack of plan. After expressing the fact that I didn't feel like we were making any progress a few times she out of the blue sent a referral with no other comment. When I questioned her on it she purposely avoided and deflected all questions. Commented that she felt sorry that her type of therapy (DBT) didn't work. When I replied that how would I know if it worked since I had never even heard the acronym from her mouth or had a conversation about it she became defensive and passive agressive ending her email quite professionally with "Please don't ever email me again". Bottom line, if you have any intelligence or ask questions, need to be challenged and don't like to have your time wasted, then Elaina is definitely not for you. AVOID AT ALL COST!!! IF you are truthfully considering using her services I would be happy to share her emails and even our recorded sessions with you as I have nothing to hide on either of them. With a decision that can be life transforming or damaging, not too mention very expensive I would suggest with all my will that you look for someone else.

Then waited 3 weeks before I finally got ahold of someone for the results... 3 weeks! During that time I called multiple times, left messages, even sent a fax asking for someone to please call me with the results. Once I was even told that there were no doctors in that day but someone would call me the next morning... No call. Finally I called again today and talked to the office gal Lupe and she says "everything's fine". I insisted that everything is not fine as I'm in pain and I asked to speak with the doctor to talk about the next step. I was told that the doctor does not take phone calls or make phone calls. I asked to leave him a voicemail, he doesn't do that apparently. I asked for an email address, he doesn't have one of those either. Mainly I want to talk directly to the doctor to tell him how disappointed I am in the service i've received. Because quite honestly I do not trust that the office gals, who are so very rude, will even give him the message. Horrible service in this office and I will never return. (except to pick up my X-rays since they won't send them to me).

For some reason, copays have "disappeared". I have since switched doctor's and am more than pleased with him and his staff. Thank goodness I got away from that Doctor's office. Do yourself a favor and find a different place.
