I just bought a used car, and rather than doing the constant tire-switching that might be required in a place with more ice and snow, I opted to replace the summer tires that came with my car with all-season tires. As I looked around online with the help of a coworker (thanks Jan!), I realized that reifen.com not only sells tires, but has company-owned garages that install them. Any system that lets me order online, ship to the garage, and schedule the installation online is getting my money.
I ordered my tires on a Monday, and scheduled an installation appointment for the following Monday. All of this was done online, and the website allows you to pre-order and pre-price all of the services you'll need (like installation and disposal of your old tires) and also the ones you won't (special "tire gas").
I showed up on time for my appointment, and the team at the garage was helpful and got me started right on time (I think I waited ten minutes). The only unexpected expense was 12€ for cleaning the wheel hubs of rust (seemed fine, in the grand scheme of things), and the whole tire installation, balancing, etc took just under an hour.
The whole point of getting the all-season tires is so that I don't have to visit a tire shop twice a year. But when I need new tires, or any tire maintenance, I'll definitely consider these guys. read more
