The education is what you want make of it and the amount of energy you want to put in. The old "party school" designation, never applied to all the students, just those who were self designed to participate. They have so many honored nationally recognized programs, it would be nice for all students to take advantage . There are museums on campus and overall ,a pretty university space. Any season of the year, the landscaping is lush, even in a snowy year, the crispness is nice. But spring and fall are the colorful times.

I called ahead to the Veterans Center, and the gentleman I spoke with informed me that they do not offer tours. I found this ironic because the community college I currently attend, as well as several other universities I plan to apply to, have all had veterans centers that were significantly more helpful than CU's. UCLA, for instance, arranged a full campus tour led by a fellow veteran student. After the tour, I had a 30-minute question-and-answer session with the head of the UCLA Veterans Success Center. In contrast, CU's Veterans Center simply told me, "We don't do tours. You can go online and look at our checklist for more information." Based on this experience, I am unlikely to apply to CU. First impressions are everything, and I do not want to be part of an environment that lacks meaningful support for veterans. CU has a lot of room for improvement.

Only after enrolling do I find out through a professor that they are phasing out all in person classes for the business school. Even so - they still take my money. Additional fees are charged for students who are enrolled "in person" yet only 2/10 courses are even offered in person... That number is soon to be 0. So I am effectively paying in-person fees but not being offered in person courses... On top of that, they claim recent budget cuts are the reason for their CUTTING SECURITY in the building. Students are left without security more often than not, and the ID access system they have is faulty and malfunctioning due to an overload of volume. This school is a fraud. Go to CSU Global instead. It's cheaper, and the online courses are much more in depth.

Coming from this perspective, I have obvious positive bias towards this institution. Also, whatever you get out of your education is what you truly put in. Personally, I believe that Mines is a great institution that helps future engineers achieve their potential. From my experience, Mines has provided a lot of the skill sets I've needed to become successful in my career. Also, the programs at Mines are ever changing and evolving for the better. When I was taking classes, we definitely had a little bit more of a textbook structure. However, I see classes now incorporating more hands-on assignments and topics. Interestingly, I see classes moving towards topics that will truly be used in industry. I do believe that the education that you get from Mines will help you develop the skills you need to learn and be useful to a company. Opportunity. I definitely credit Mines will all of the opportunities I've received in my a lot of my life. Mines has helped me obtain funding, internships, connections, and jobs. Outside of this, there is a lot of opportunity for studying resources and help. If you aren't doing well, there are so many resources to help you do better. It is up to the individual to make use of these resources for their benefit. With all of the help that Mines offers academically, I believe that anyone can pass if enough effort is put into it. People do have to work and go to school. If you understand your limits and your financial ability, plan accordingly to what you think you can accomplish. Don't spread yourself too thin and only take on what you can chew. Honestly, the staff has been incredible to. If you give any normal person respect, I would believe that they would treat you with just as much respect. Respect is earned and given accordingly. I have received so much help from professors and administrative staff. They do want you to succeed. They are willing to help. But, be polite. Volatile conversations don't typically get you anywhere. This has just been my experience at Mines. I tried to address some comments I've seen in some of the other negative reviews I saw. Mines is a tough school, but it can be done. With hard work you can become successful. But, it's up to you to seize your own success and to pave your own way.

I'm nearing the end of my BASc in psychology . Most of the classes stay Christian but a few promote Buddhist meditations, contemplative prayer, centering, and repeated mantras (specifically in the classes Neuroscience and Spiritual Formation). Those classes seemed very "me" centered and not God-centered. This was brought to the dean of the school and he was shocked that this was in the curriculum. He is currently looking into it. I strongly suggest that curriculum is adjusted to (at least) show the differences between Christianity and other worldviews. Not always are students discerning if this information and may adopt these practices. This has nothing to do with the faculty as all of my professors have been kind and easy to work with. For those whom I discussed this, they have been open and understood my situation. They allowed me to create biblical curriculum in place of things I was uncomfortable with. In classes under theology, they always stayed biblical. I'm unsure if I will be attending CCU for my Masters and I don't know if CCU will ever read this. If you do, I hope my review doesn't affect my admission. I'm passionate about CCU and how it should raise up future godly students with both feet solidly planted in the foundation of Christ.
