I would give a zero if possible. I brought my senior dog (age 10, Labrador retriever) in for a visit and was concerned with vomiting and diarrhea. I was sent on my way with a bunch of medications and a diagnosis that he had some sort of stomach/intestinal bug. While there I had a few red flags, such as how the dr casually flipped my dog's one ear over and never used an instrument but said he needed his ears cleaned out and antibiotics. The next red flag was that he was suggesting all sorts of procedures that didn't seem to apply to the visit at hand, but more so to make him extra money. I want the best for my dog, but find wading through it all when I want to put my faith in the doctor to be unnerving. It's important to note this was my first time in the actual office bc Covid restrictions had never allowed me inside the building before. A little over a week later my dog was not eating and throwing up and having diarrhea again. I was on my way out of town and relying on someone else to take him to the vet. The first thing Monday morning i called the first vet that would take him. He was still a patient at Camboro and they opened a half hour or hour before Fairview Vet and they had an opening. I took it. It was an emergency and I needed my dog seen. I asked Fairview Vet to send the last visit over to this vet office so the veterinarian would know what medications he was on and what diagnosis Dr Scott had given. They will not send records to another office but they did send them to me, after calling a second time that morning. It never occurred to me that Dr Scott would take great offense to this. Camboro never minded when I took my dogs elsewhere and this was an emergency situation. Little did I know that he terminated both my dogs and the only reason I found out was because I called to have a medication refilled and was told we are no longer patients there. I am not disappointed that he isn't our vet anymore- I am disappointed in the unprofessional and unethical actions he took. Apparently loyalty to his business was more important than my dog being seen by the first person that would take him. They terminated us as patients and no one even told us that's their policy. I do feel in the end he did us a favor though. No one that is that callous should be taking care of your pet. Incidentally, my dog died a few days later. His liver and kidneys shut down. I not only do not recommend this vet, I will go out of my way to tell people they should avoid him. read more

I have been going to Dr. Scott for over 10 years. He and his staff have been nothing short of amazing. I wont take my animals anywhere else.

I am very disappointed with Dr. Scott. To his credit, he has been helpful in the past. He had an inventive way to correct my puppy's teeth, which worked, before surgery was needed. He was very kind to my daughter when we had to put our 14 year old Pomeranian to sleep. He was able to neuter my dog, who had a testicle in the wrong place, which made his neuter a little tricky. For those things, I am appreciative. Recently, I brought my German Shepherd, Max and my pit/boxer Shadrack in for routine check up and vaccinations. As always, they took Shadrack in the back and came back in with him all set. Then they took Max, who is anxious by nature. They were gone a lot longer and finally came back and informed me that Max was "falling apart mentally" anytime they tried to touch him. Dr. Scott would NOT explain to me what that meant. I asked specific questions, was he trying to bite, was he just thrashing around?" He just kept repeating that Max was falling apart mentally. That I would have to come back, muzzle him, and have him sedated for an extra $139 or so to get his shots. I asked if I could assist, to try to see if I could distract him, and I was told no. I always assumed that they took the dogs in the back to give shots because I had children with me, but I had sent the kids out, and they still wouldn't give his shots. I should have never let them take my dogs out of my sight for something like that. I've always been with my dogs at other vets, but again, I assumed it was because of my kids. I left, still pretty confused. So I decided to try to take Max to a vet that would let me help hold him, be with him, and distract him. I came back two days later to fill out paperwork to have Max's records faxed over to Choice Vet's, across the street. Dr. Scott had the nerve to come out of an exam room to practically beg me to take my dog "anywhere but across the street". I could not believe how unprofessional! This vet would not speak to me about my dog when I was in his appointment, but now he's going to try to tell me where not to take my dog!? He finally explained that Max was trying to bite, and that's what "falling apart mentally" means. And he then told me to be careful because I have small children! If he was REALLY concerned about the safety of my children and my dog, THAT should have been EXPRESSED IMMEDIATELY at my appointment!! I started reading through google reviews at both Fairview Vets and Choice Vets. I think Dr. Scott and his team are afraid of bigger dogs. Stick to small dogs! Dr. Scott's office's comments and replies to people, and how he behaved when he found out about me going across the street, it appears as he is the one falling apart mentally about a new office across the street. I also saw from reading these reviews that bringing your dog's body home to bury is an option, which I was never offered. I was offered cremation and not bringing her ashes home, or cremation and bringing ashes home for an extra $200. Any time I've lost an animal, I've gotten a card with paw prints and a fur clipping, or at least a card, and there has been nothing. Well, I just had my appointment with Max at Choice Vets, and I'm happy to report there were no lost limbs, no one was maimed, no loss of life. He never growled or even looked crossways at anyone there. Dr. Orozco and his staff took their time with Max. Yes, he was absolutely nervous, but these people took their time and did whatever Max needed to be as comfortable and relaxed as possible. They had a spray they put on a piece of material to help him relax and had me tie it on his collar. They had peanut butter on a stick and had me hold his head and give him peanut butter as they took his temp and checked him over. They let him warm up to them. They fed him treats. We worked together to hold him and distract him with vigorous rubs and lots of "good boy" praise and happy voices and he didn't even flinch as Dr. took his blood and then gave him his vaccinations. Max even preformed for the doctor, doing tricks for us. No sedation. No muzzle. He just needed his mommy. read more

Had some work done on my dogs and had another neutered. I used to be a vet tech and can easily recognize a good and honest doctor in the vet business. Dr. Johns was extremely personable and down to earth. The staff was also extremely helpful when one of those same dogs was hit and killed in the road in front of my house. They helped me emotionally and walked me through my hardest times with my pets. Thank you FVH. read more

11/6/20: I have updated my review of 11/5/20 to make it as clear as possible. On 11/3/20 at 9:22 PM, the night before an appointment I made about two weeks earlier, FVH texted me from (970) 822-0069: "Due to a family emergency Fairview Veterinary Hospital has to cancel [my pet's name] appointment tomorrow. We apologize for the inconvenience. Because she is a sick patient we are referring you to the Erie Pet Emergency Center, which we recommend you take her to tonight. Best regards, the FVH team." It was weird, there was no offer to reschedule the appointment, and my dog wasn't sick requiring emergency care. She had been vomiting off and on and I just wanted to check on it. I texted them back at 10:17 PM: "Ok never mind. It seems you are having a lot of challenges. I hope things work out. I guess I should get another vet?" They did not reply. On 11/4/20 at 10:36 AM, I was emailed the records for my animals from a no-reply email address. I texted FVH at 12:07 PM: "I received medical charts for my animals. Does this mean that you are not in business anymore?" On 11/4/20 at 12:12 PM they replied: "We are most certainly in business, having our best year ever! You have received your records because you have been dismissed as a client for repeated rudeness to our team. Best wishes." I was shocked and baffled. I had no idea what they were talking about. I've always had great relations with them and have always enjoyed my experience there. I've taken several of my pets there, and there was never even the hint of an issue. Dr. Johns, his staff, and I were always really nice to each other. It seemed this is a case of mistaken identity. They must be confusing me with someone else, right? On 11/4/20 at 6:04 PM I replied: "I beg your pardon? What rudeness? I think you are confusing me with someone else. I've been coming there for 10 years or more and never had an incident or conflict with anyone. I hope you can discover your error. Otherwise I will be contacting Dr. Johns himself. And I will be posting what I think of your treatment of me everywhere I can. Yes, I'm upset. I will be posting a review about this. If you apologize and make it better then I will fix the review." On 11/5/20 Dr. Johns himself apparently responded to my first version of my review with a bunch of really damning religious talk. I was flabbergasted. I texted him about it his hypocrisy, and he texted me to "cease and desist". He then revised his reply and toned down the religious rhetoric, but still managed to threaten me with the PA State Police. Wow, talk about getting out of hand. This reminds me of dealing with a narcissistic personality. It's impossible. Initially, I thought about contacting Dr. Johns to let him know about all of this craziness and that he had must have a rogue employee there, but at this point, it's not worth my trouble. I don't need him or anyone there calling the police on me for trying to help sort out the mess they made. I can imagine him charging me with harassment or "extortion". I've already been kicked in the a** once, I don't need to invite another kick. One thing I know: I've never been rude to them unless you consider my texts above to be rude. Honestly, I've always been very happy with the service of FVH up until their weird text on 11/4/20. That's why I always drove across town to go there even though I move away from Fairview almost 5 years ago. At this point, I'll take my business somewhere else where they appreciate me and I'll be sure to spread the word about my treatment by FVH wherever I can. Something is really wrong there, and I wouldn't want anyone to be treated like I have been treated without at least a warning. We took our 11 year old boxer there for an acute eye injury and they took the time and care he needed and also did not jump to the most invasive procedure to treat. I had a very horrific experience with this place. I came home and within 5 minutes of being home I found my cat struggling to breathe, at first i thought he had a hairball. Quickly i realized that something more was wrong with the way he was acting and I raced him out the door and flew to this veterinary hospital. By the time I got there he started to throw up and pee, I could not figure out what was going on with him but knew it couldnt be good. When I walked in I told them what was going on and how he needed to be seen right away. They told me nobody could because the vet was in surgery. I begged and pleaded for any help even if just with his pain because he clearly was in bad shape and struggling. They got the vet who came out and took him in the back. When he came out he started asking me questions and I didn't know what happened or what was going on with him. He argued with me on what i knew and didnt know as im racking my brain trying to make sense of what is going on. Then he told me he was probably going to pass away. I asked if i could just be there to comfort him then because i knew he needed me. He was the most loving cat and showed comfort with me just having my hand in the box with him on the ride out, he needed me. I was his momma, bottle fed this cat from beginning of his life and gave him so much love thru out the rest. He loved me so much, stayed by my side all the time. He told me I was not allowed to go anywhere near my cat and started to accuse me of hurting my cat and told me that he wouldnt help unless i signed him over and that i needed to do the right thing so he could try and save him. After trying to tell them i would never hurt my cat and how he needs my comfort, the vet started getting very angry and mean towards me and left me feeling so helpless and desperate for him to try anything to help that i signed him over. They were very rude and disrespectful and made me leave. I was so distraught and could not stop crying it was so painful to go thru. After i calmed down a little bit i tried to call them back to see if they were able to save him and they told me he passed away and when i asked them what happened to him the vet said that i should never have pets again and hung up on me. If it wasnt hard enough to find your pet in which you love so much in a Terrifying manner, these people cut my heart completely out and stomped on it while i was trying to save my sweet cats life and figure out what happened to him. They had no right to pass the judgments they did on me for bringing in my pet that needed help as i obviously trusted the thought that they would help. Never have I been treated so unfairly and hurtful as i did the day my baby passed away at veterinary hospital. RIP my Chappie I will never forget you and never stop thinking about you. I miss you so much!! I really wish i would have been able to be there for you in your final moments, you didnt deserve to go thru any bit of what happened to you. My heart is so broken. And for the way this place treated me during this experience will forever taunt me, so unfair that people in this position can use their authority to treat someone like this in such a heartbreaking time of life. read more

Love this place! My old vet told me it was going to cost me lots and lots of money to help Kona with her allergies but Scott helped me right away and Kona isn't itching anymore! They did all the shots right in front of me and loved Kona so much even though she was being vocal with all the other dogs lol! So happy with our first visit! read more
