If you are used to REAL jamacian food, you will not like this place. Rice and peas are dry, beef patties have no flavor, chicken is always dry. Oxtails barely have any meat and are small. Whoever the battyboi was that made the oxtails $42 and the sof drinks $3.25 needs to be stoned. It is sad to see gentrification in effect. Will never be back and they tried to delete my review. read more

Wow. I usually never walk away from a restaurant that isn't a buffet full. Well Reggae Hut did the job. I had the Jerk Chicken. It comes with fresh veggies and rice and beans. The chicken was very flavorful and very tender. The meat literally fell off the bones. There was a lot of sauce a top and the sauce was HOT. Some of it mixed in with both the veggies and rice which made them both great too. The serving size here is HUGE. I had basically half of a chicken. The parking sucks, I ended up circling twice around before just parking in the lot behind and walking. The owners and workers are super nice. They really do enjoy your business. The prices are high so don't expect a cheap eat. I've never had Caribbean food before so I have nothing to compare this against but this definitely was something different that I enjoyed. read more

Everyone that we've brought here really enjoyed this place. It's ran by the same owner as The Breakfast Klub (they sell the same sweet tea and lemonade here!). There's parking in the back and couple of street parking right in front on the place. Walk in and order at the cashier (they'll even let you sample some of the food if you need help deciding). My favorite is the jerk chicken plate w/ the cabbage and red bean rice. It does have a spicy kick to it, but the smoky jerk flavor is just outstanding (especially the skin!) and chicken was soft and good (not to mention the pieces were big and we always have to take leftovers). The cabbage and rice were also both cooked well and everything on the dish really complemented each other. Delicious and would really recommend for anyone, you'll enjoy it! I've also tried the garlic shrimp. It has a strong garlic flavoring to it, was good but was a bit too salty for me. Though my coworkers really enjoyed it. They also sell bottled Jamaican drinks. I've tried the Ting, which was a grapefruit flavored soda and isn't sour as you would imagine. It was actually a good sweet hint of grapefruit and refreshing. Their bottled cream soda also was good. If you've never tried their homemade sweet tea, I'd recommend trying it. The flavor is a bit different from just your regular teas if you like something sweet. Service has always been outstanding from everyone in the store, always making sure you get anything you might need or just checking in to make sure everything is good. Great friendly atmosphere and service, great food, and they even have a live band during lunch times. Highly recommend! read more

First timer. Hubby and I ordered jerk chicken, curry chicken, plantains and the carrot cake. Everything was delicious and I'll be coming back! Jerk was spicy, like I like it. A little too much for hubby, but he said it was so good he couldn't stop! There was a couple who came in after us and told them it was their first time. The guy at the counter said, "go ahead and sit down. I got y'all!" I loved that. Curbside pickup was very easy. I placed an order online and got a call that my food was ready within 10 minutes or so. Once I arrived, I parked in the back and called them, and an employee wearing gloves and a mask brought it right to my car. I appreciate it whenever businesses take care to have the employees wear protective wear in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic. The portions are massive! They gave me three giant chicken pieces and two servings of rice and beans. I had added a side of coconut bread, and it was big and warm, like it just came out of the oven. I wish I had gotten their patties to try them as breakfast. The seasoning was really good. The chicken was a little overdone, but other than that, it was a satisfactory experience. read more

I give this place 3 stars as the food is subpar. Customer service is nice. Convenient parking. I think the location it's in makes them charge a high price for the food. We ordered a Jamaican beef patty $4.25 , coco bread $4.25 , plantains (don't recall the price), jerk chicken and a curry chicken plate. We did get to sample the jerk and curry chicken which helped us determine if we'd purchase.... They made sure they cooked the jerk and curry chicken fresh and we appreciated that. The beans in the rice was over cooked and some were hard. The vegetables in the plates were over cooked as well. The Jamaican beef patty was great but the coco bread was drenched in butter or oil and seeping out of the aluminum foil. I also have never had cocoa bread of this type, not sure if they make it homemade or what. . . The plantains? You guessed it over cooked. I don't know if I just have high expectations considering where I am from is the closest state to Jamaica and things are just cooked and prepared differently. But it upsets me that the only things that were ok didn't make the dishes totally enjoyable. If you are from the Caribbean or grew up eating Jamaican food, then this place will be a waste of money. We spent almost $60 on what should have cost half the price. If I did go back I'd probably just order the Jamaican beef patty, which sucks because they go in the cocoa bread and are to be eaten together... but, if you use the cocoa bread to scrape the plate, I understand that you may have no idea on what authentic Jamaican food would taste like. I wanted to like this place so much because the ambiance, music and the ppl there who took our order but the only true waiting area is the couch and it was pretty dingy, with stains and looked duhty... sorry guys but 3 stars was the best we could d read more

As one who has grown up on Jamaican food this isn't it... the whole time I was in there I didn't see one Jamaican there which should have been my first indication this wasn't the place to go. The jerk chicken was burned and my husband said he could taste the lighter fluid in the chicken. The curry was like a thick paste, never in all my years Of eating curry chicken has that ever been the case. The vegetables were over cooked and squishy. I am really sad that this meal was so bad. OK, where to start? I never heard of this place until I was doing Postmates and had a pickup from here. They showed me the order so I knew it was correct and I thought it looked really good. Had a short conversation with my customer to ask how good they were, and the customer was raving about it. So, I finally decided I wanted something new and tried them. I asked about the jerk chicken (I have addiction to spicy, and it said it was spicy) and they knew I had never been there before. So, they brought out a free sample of the jerk chicken and potato salad, so that I could try it, before they would finish my order and take my money, so I was sure that I liked it. Both were really good, so I placed my order. So, here is my opinion on what I got. First, the jerk chicken...It wasn't as spicy as I was hoping for, but the flavor was amazing (I have an insanely high tolerance to spicy food, so some people may think it was really spicy, but to me it just has a slight kick). The chicken was also very tender (though kinda wish was boneless, just because easier to eat). It came with rice and beans which has a bit of a smoky flavor and was very good together. I got the potato salad with it, as well I am VERY picky with potato salad and few places I've had it where it really was good. I was a little "iffy" because this potato salad has beets (which I don't like) and peas (which is odd for potato salad). Surprisingly, the combination of flavors was great and easily some of the best potato salad I have had. Aside from that, I got the plantains. I love plantains and while nothing spectacular about them (They taste like every other place I got them from), they were really good. The total I paid for this absolute taste of Heaven? $15 and some change ($11 something for the chicken, beans/rice, and potato salad..$3 something for the plantains). The portion size was pretty good, as well, which left me full and still munching on the food several hours later when I was hungry again. Yes, I will def come back here when the need arises, and possibly try something else on the menu next time. read more

We drove to Houston specifically to try the restaurant "Kulture", but it was closed... so we were on the hunt for some good authentic food and OMG I'm soooo glad this is what we stumbled upon! EVERYTHING was AMAZING... plantains (which I'm SUPER particular about), beef patties, oxtails, brown stew chicken, rice, veggies, & lemonade! ALLLLL of it was BOMB and come to find out it's owned by the same people as Kulture! Now I definitely got try it too knowing that! This is some of the best Jamaican food we have ever had! I had the creole snapper,my wife had the garlic shrimp, my niece had the the chicken,and we had a beef and chicken patty and everything was terrific! Not to mention the servings are nice. When I saw that Rice University was offering free food from a place besides Cane's or Pink's Pizza, I jumped at the opportunity to recoup my tuition money. But MAN, I wouldn't be mad if they charged me more to have a tap of their fruit punch on campus. We noticed a lot of people place to go orders here and call ahead for pick up. There were several bags of eats waiting as we witnessed people roll in and pick them up while having small talk with the owners. All those items looked delicious and we plan to come back and try those out. We also talked to the owners for a bit, they're a husband/wife team who've owned/operated this place for a while. Super polite and gracious, they helped me navigate the menu and explained what the items would be like when I ordered. Sadly I could not get the Aloo Pie (sold out) but they assured me it's worth having and to come back and try it (which we will). Pearland is lucky to have this place here. The steamed veggies were so good and sautéed perfectly. I don't like them cooked too long and they had the perfect bite. The rice and peas were also good. They went perfectly with the meal and the seasoning was on point. The chicken curry patty I could've passed on. The outside was so flaky and good! I never had a patty like that but it was kind of cold and I had already gotten the curry chicken and thats exactly what it taste like, just in patty form, although the curry chicken meal was better. The chicken curry was sooo good and flavorful. I got a roti skin to sop up my curry but didn't care for it to much. It tastes like its made with wheat flour or germ flour and was a bit too thick‍ no shade to them. To be honest, I'm a 'bust up shut' roti kinda girl and everybody's is different and that's fine. Now, if they made the roti skin like they made the Jamaican patty, I would be in business. I ate quite a bit and STILL had a whole meal to take home with me and was full after finishing it. When I see people of the culture eating their own food its a good indication to me the food is good. There were a couple tables with a few Jamaican's enjoying it. We went the Saturday after Hurricane Beryl so the lights in the dining area were out probably due to heat, which I'm fine with. It wasn't too hot or cool even without the air on. It was a good time. You can tell right away it's authentic--everything from the curry chicken to the oxtail and roti is packed with flavor. It's not watered down for the masses, it tastes like somebody in the kitchen actually knows what they're doing. They've got that Trinidad influence too, which I appreciate. You don't see that everywhere. Stuff like doubles and buss up shut on the menu is a big deal if you know what you're looking at. Portions are solid, food comes out fresh, and overall it just hits. It's one of those spots where you keep thinking about the food after you leave. If you want real Caribbean flavor in Houston, this is one of the places you need to try.

To me, the goat seemed just a little less spicy so the chicken spice level may be just how they cooked the batch that day. Upon entering, I thought it was just a takeout place because I didn't see any tables or seating. While waiting on my food, I discovered a whole other large room with seating, full bar & stage! I asked for spicy on the doubles but they didn't taste too spicy - instead I used the sauce included on my bake n fish (possibly had some scotch bonnet peppers) and it was excellent. The bake and fish came as tacos - I don't think I realized that. It was good, but only two small tacos. The french fries were unfortunately burnt and therefore dry and inedible. I gave up on eating them. We were in a hurry, otherwise, I would have chatted with the staff about possibly getting some new fries. I would give this another try --I'd likely try a few other trucks first or at least have something to accompany my meal in addition to what I order from Krave.

Nothing in the decor or atmosphere that makes you want to go there to have an experience, enjoy the sights and sounds, people watch, etc. Just eat. I got my order takeout. The young man working the register who took my order was very nice and professional. Good customer service. I ordered the large jerk chicken and a chicken patty, and I'm glad I did! It was really good. They are generous with the portions (could've used more plantains relative to the amount of everything else, but...) and the meal did not miss! I will definitely be back the next time I'm craving jerk chicken... for takeout!
