I love coming here to catch up with friends, or coming with my laptop to work alongside some great coffee. But by far my favorite things here are 1) the community vibes with staff and other patrons and 2) how wonderfully dog friendly this cafe is! I so appreciate that. If you're not looking for Refuge Coffee Co, you most likely will miss it. In fact I was at a red light searching for coffee, and when I noticed Refuge was 0.1 mi away, I had to turn around to drive on in. When I stopped in I got a medium coffee ($2.25) and one sambusa ($2), which is a deep fried, flakely triangle stuffed with spices and flavors that i've never had, but i'm happy I have now. Mostly savory, slightly sweet, the pastry was a nice compliment to the coffee. Speaking of the coffee, at Refuge the coffee has a distinct flavor that you wont get from any other store i've found, which is a good thing. Rich flavor, strong, delicious smell, and an independent food truck. There's actually no store here. Just a food truck that sits on an empty lot, which is part of the charm. There's a couple of entrances/exits to the lot, and as the lot is at the corner of ponce de leon ave and Market street (red light), if there is traffic, it wont be for long. Refuge Coffee Co is the real deal, a hidden gem in Clarkston. The coffee is very good, and they offer a range of other drinks, some cold - some hot - to suit everyone's taste. In addition, they try new flavor combos and offer special drinks periodically. This is a great place to hang out or meet up with friends, as there's plenty of both inside and outside seating in a casual and comfortable atmosphere. I love having a coffee shop near my house! And Refuge Coffee serves fantastic coffee -- but also neighborliness and an excellent cause, to boot. At first it may not be much to look at -- a bright red coffee truck in the parking lot of an old garage. The coffee is excellent, and it is served carefully and well. If you want teas, they have them, and don't pass up the ginger sodas - -fresh and home-made, and full of ginger! Ahmad and Caleb are wonderful, and I know that as new baristas move into the truck, they will be equally careful and good. If you like, you can sit outside; there's tables and shade; games for the kids, and lots of places where you can stash your bike or sit with your canine, large or small. (If you see a largish Great Pyrenees, that's GingerBear.) Inside, the garage space has been transformed into a relaxing, homey, funky atmosphere. Imagine your favorite sofa, the one you love to curl up on and read or just hang out on -- the one that may be a little too shabby now but is so comfortable and welcoming that you don't care. That's the whole interior of Refuge. There's free WiFi if you want to hang out and work or surf. Plus, there's local art, and notices for community events. More than great coffee (a good friend is a coffee snob, and SHE loves the coffee), Kitti Murray and her staff serve up community. The service is good -- folks who have moved here in search of a better life, learning English skills, who are my neighbors. The unassuming space partners with Square Mile Gallery and hosts community events -- cultural awareness days, Ramadan iftar potlucks and dances, art openings, celebrations Just Because. It has become a true community hub, with an awesome mural by local artist Shannon Willow adding beauty to the space (painted by her AND community members!). In truth, coffee is one of those items I have rarely bothered to buy by the cup before -- I watch my money carefully, and I can make my own better and less expensively than I can buy it. But I drop by Refuge Coffee at least once a week, when time permits. It is just that good. This place is not just a coffee shop: it is a true experience. read more

Incredible 1st experience at this lovely, delicious nonprofit coffee house staffed by refugees, beautifully reflecting the multicultural Clarkston community. Coffee and chai tea were both yummy crafted by immigrants as they transition to life in Atlanta. Go support this place! Additionally, enjoyed Sofar Sounds Atlanta - a unique, pop up musical experience with location revealed the day prior and musicians a surprise on site. We enjoyed sounds from Adrian, Team Abyss.... I love this mobile coffee shop located in the heart of Clarkston. I usually get a caramel frappe with whipped cream but they have a lot more options than I expected. The community pantry just steps away is a thoughtful and much needed addition to the neighborhood. I see small children able to get what they need regardless of their family's financial ability. I love this place, and the staff are always friendly. I just wish they would upgrade their internet connection and/or wifi router (not sure which is their bottleneck). The internet is essentially unusable most days. I would love to be able to do a little work while I enjoy my coffee. read more

The Refuge Coffee Company is a non-profit organization that helps to serve the Clarkston community. Spotted Refuge Coffee Company on Food Truck Tuesdays at the Cobb Galleria Offices and I had to try them out. I ordered the Iced Hibiscus Tea (16 oz.) and it was good. It was a bit too sweet for my liking, but it was still good, fruity, and refreshing for a hot summer day. The prices are great as well. For my 16 ounce tea, it was only $2.50. Cheaper than Starbucks! I am looking forward to trying their other drinks and coffees the next time I see them on Tuesdays. read more

Hi! So my first impression of this place is "wow, this is chill". Then I walked up to the spot. First I walked by the shop that sell shirts and cups/mugs? Then into the lounging area where I found a wifi password with many tables and chairs. No air conditioning since this spot catch all the nice breezes in the 95 degree weather. Maybe a perfect spot to study? I moved on to purchase a coffee from a red truck. Everything was impressive until I tasted my iced coffee. I find it a bit water down in taste and effectiveness. Perhaps, other items on the menu is good? Ultimately, I came here for coffee and I chose a medium iced coffee with almond milk and no sweetener for $3 bucks and it so happened to be very mediocre to my taste buds. read more

Great coffee for a great cause, I can't imagine giving this place fewer than 5 stars. We visited for the first time during an event so the place was understandably packed but even with two lines, they were constantly churning out orders and we managed to order and get our drinks in about 5-10 minutes. I'm not a fan of cold coffee but the weather was so hot that day I knew I'd melt if I got a hot latte so I took the risk and got an iced one, which turned out to be delicious! Unlike every other place I tried, this one actually still tasted like coffee that hadn't been watered down. I didn't see any of the pastries I'd seen pictured here and I didn't miss them because of the delicious international food vendors had for sale but I'll definitely come back and look for their pastries next time I come for coffee. read more

I'm a fan of Refuge Coffee and Co! They have a cute trailer out front and you get very basic coffee but the taste and flavor is really good. If you want it sweeter you can always pour in more liquid sugar. I ordered an iced caramel latte and the flavor and taste was delicious. Overall, I would recommend. read more

I loved visiting this little coffee shop! I was in Georgia in alternative spring break to do some refugee work, and our hosting organization rented this place out for a night so that we could have a Trivia Game Night, and it's such a cute location. Truly cannot say enough good things about Refuge Coffee Company- aside from making a mean mocha and an almond milk latte that stands out as one of the best in Atlanta, the company itself is just incredible. I love that they're fearlessly committed to providing opportunities for and employing refugees, in addition to bettering the international community in Atlanta. And bonus! The truck can be rented for special events to provide that much-needed caffeine jolt for your next party or gathering. For reference, I work at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and we were fortunate enough to have Refuge provide coffee for all night-shift staff over Daylight Savings weekend in the fall. Today, I made my first visit to Refuge Coffee Company in Clarkston. I was with a group from First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta who visited Clarkston to learn more about this city which has been called "the Ellis Island of the South." There were plenty of sitting areas both indoors and outdoors. I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast bun along with chai tea (I ordered my bun hot, and my tea cold)! I very much enjoyed both. Refuge Coffee was quite busy while we were there, and I can certainly see why. I will definitely return, both to support this enterprise AND to enjoy the good food and drinks. read more

They're definitely way better than Starbucks and other big coffee shop chains, but I think I enjoy this place because the interior is so open, bright, and spacious, and I absolutely love the Clarkston area. An amazing coffee shop that supports a great cause! I'd been wanting to stop by the Refuge Coffee full-time site after previously visiting the mobile truck when it was close to my office. My mom and I stopped by while in Clarkston, and really enjoyed our visit. I ordered a Chai Tea Latte, which was delicious and my mom ordered their famous Iced Hibiscus Tea. Prices are reasonable (Certainly cheaper than Starbucks) and the friendly staff was attentive and helpful. Even better is knowing that by purchasing a cup of coffee or tea, you're supporting job training, mentorship and a living wage that Refuge Coffee provides to recently settled refugees. They also have Wi-Fi, a restroom located towards the back of the building and an indoor seating area. read more
