On a little NYC excursion we chose the Refinery Rooftop based on ambiance alone. This was not out normal criteria yet it worked a charm because the place was a 5 star find! When you enter the building there's a bar on the ground floor with jazz piano playing and an ultra hip vibe. Go to the 13th floor and you find a little piece of paradise. This place is comfy and just relaxing. The hostess found us a table quickly even without a reservation. Once seated we were greeted by a friendly food runner and our waitress seconds later. We ordered a couple beers and were served swiftly. We tried a couple appetizers and they were fantastic. The kitchen serves you at a mellow pace so you can enjoy without being rushed. That's what I felt was nice, we were able to sit and chill without being pushed out to accommodate more guests. What a cool place! read more

Stopped by the Refinery Rooftop for after work drinks on Thursday night. There were seven people in our group and we had two rounds of cocktails and Prosecco. I had the Monkey Ball - the bartender made it martini style as I requested. It was delish but tad bit too sweet for my preference, in fact I think it would have been better on ice as it was intended to. The bar was quite busy and our bartender turned out drinks in a timely fashion. It is a great rooftop spot. I would recommend a reservation, especially for big groups. Had reservation on Saturday night @ 10:30. We arrived at approximately 10:30 and were seated right away, always a plus in my book. This is the 3rd rooftop bar we've visited in the last couple years, and I enjoyed it the most as it checked all boxes. Although the section we were seated in was not very large, we were in an outdoor area with no roof. The roof on the interior is glass and appears to be retractable. The decor was inviting, as with other rooftop bars. 2 things set it apart. #1 The menu, although not extensive, there were enough choices to have a full meal. Most places have a limited amount of food options with most being appetizers. I chose the chicken wings, and GF had the pepperoni flatbread. Very hea The 2nd reason this goes to the top of my list is the DJ. Others play piped in music; this bar had a live DJ. I would give the DJ a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I can't remember hearing any mistakes, and his selection of songs played/mixes was "On Point". GF impressed by music also. We visit NYC several times a year and our routine is to visit a bar/restaurant once and the next time find something new. This is a busy rooftop! A bit too packed with tiny tables for me and hard to have conversation. The outdoor view is a bit skewed just based on the framing. The drinks were OK but not something I would be dying to come back to. We also ordered the Cacio E Pepe Tator Tots which sound amazing but they kind. of just tasted like plain tator tots and the sauce which was probably the driver for the 'cacio e pepe' wasn't really giving what it should be and we needed a larger sauce container for the quantity of tots. The Refinery Rooftop is a trendy and hip rooftop bar/restaurant for the beautiful people of Manhattan. I lowered its hip quotient exponentially as soon as I departed the elevators. The eye candy provided a better view than the Empire State Building. The bartenders were pleasant enough until they threatened to take our chairs at 3:30 PM. We were looking for a rooftop bar after our Broadway show. Our usual favorite was unexpectedly closed so we were very happy to find this one. Getting up there was a bit of a hassle. The guests going up and the person running the elevator were a bit rude to us. There is one elevator for the bar, you'll wait behind a rope and they'll take you up once the elevator arrives. Once we got up there, the views were stunning. We had a great view of the Empire State Building. The space was also beautiful. I adored the interior design. It was a great mix of industrial and greens. I ordered an aperol spritz and my partner got a Manhattan. Our bill came out to about $40. The drinks were very good. I loved our bartender, he was cool and kind. Before we went up to the bar they made a bit of a big deal about needing a reservation, but a lot of people there just sat down at tables and weren't asked to move, so we did the same. I'm guessing you needed a reservation for the outdoor tables with the views. It was also around midnight right before they closed at 1am. We were a group of four and had a good time here. read more

My favorites were the cacio e pepe tater tots and the Mac and cheese with added truffle. Whenever we go to brunch, we always order an eggs Benedict, but I would have to say the eggs Benedict did not satisfy us as much. You really can't beat the view at this rooftop bar. You get a nice clear view of the Empire State Building which can be seen from inside or outside. It is beautiful to see it all lit up at night. I have been here to Refinery Rooftop on a couple occasions when visiting NYC. The bar itself it located on the 13th floor of the Refinery Building. Dress is casual comfort according to their website. I have never eaten here and so can't much about the food. But I have been here for drinks. Security has always been nice and helpful. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait going up the elevator. Drinks are pricey (my margarita was $20), but I expect that being in New York City. My knock about this place is that I have found the bartender service to be just ok. It's a chore to get their attention and there is definitely favoritism to certain customers. But overall you can't beat the view here. Thankfully when I showed up there was plenty of seating! As time went on the place got busier, so I would recommend making reservations to ensure you have a table. Once we were seated, we were greeted by our very vibrant and friendly waiter. The food and drink were very expensive. On average a plate costs 20-32 dollars and the drinks $20. If you wanted add on items theirs an additional charge of $8. You will be charged the price of full pack of bacon and carton of eggs just to swap out or add additional items such as bacon and fries to your order.
