The chef was 5 stars, we are still dreaming about the meal. Captain Ed went above and beyond arranging every detail for the perfect night. The stewardess, Carrie, was attentive, kind, fun, and always made sure we had more than enough. I give Top Shelf 10/10 and look forward to chartering it again in the future. Captain Ed and Chef Joel were accommodating and hospitable. We all agreed that the experience was extraordinary and unique. The boat is luxurious and well equipped, with several indoor and outdoor areas to gather. We started with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres outside and move to the bow of the boat for sunset and then inside for a beautiful sit down three-course dinner. I coordinated a trip to Daufuskie Island with a group of friends who had never visited before…read more While we enjoyed parts of the experience, there were several issues that impacted our overall day. First, the ferry staff were wonderful. The captain and mate were both friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, and they truly made the boat ride enjoyable. However, the website information regarding ferry times was very confusing. Based on the schedule posted online, we believed we would have from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on the island, as it advertised: 9AM to 4PM 11AM to 6PM 1PM to 8PM *Seasonally 7 Hour Round Trip Unfortunately, we later learned we actually needed to be back at the dock by 7:15 p.m. This significantly reduced the amount of time we expected to have on the island. Several other guests on our boat also seemed confused about connections and return times, so clearer communication on the website would be very helpful. The most disappointing part of the trip was the golf cart rental. Our cart only traveled around 12 mph, making it difficult to fully explore the island within the limited time available. We were constantly being passed by other carts all day long, and the slow speed prevented us from seeing as much as we had planned. I would strongly encourage the golf cart company to better inspect, maintain, and update their carts so visitors can fully enjoy the island experience. Daufuskie itself is beautiful, and the ferry crew provided excellent customer service, but clearer scheduling information and better-maintained golf carts would greatly improve the overall experience.
