Towing vehicles without cause or notice is not only irresponsible but borders on predatory and unlawful behavior. I fully understand towing cars that are illegally parked, but that is not what happened here. This was a permitted space, and the complete lack of communication is indefensible. We immediately pulled over and saw that the hub was smoking and bright red. When I pulled the wheel off, I discovered the housing for the inner bearings had welded itself to the spindle. These guys responded with two wreckers and six people. Instead of towing our trailer more than an hour away to the nearest repair facility, they worked on it right there, on the side of the road.
