Got a flaming rose tattoo and it's fire. Everyone was really nice and if I get another tattoo I'm definitely coming back

All three tatts in a single shot.

I received 3 tattoos from here and the artist did a great job. My first tatt (the prayer hands) was done by Edgar. He's professional, follows protocols and did an awesome job with amazing details. My second tatt (heart with arrow) was done by Andrea. She was efficient, professional and did a great job. My third tatt (skull with heart eyes) was done by Taylor. She's professional, follows protocols and has great customer service. Best way to describe Taylor is GENUINE. Loves doing work and genuinely wants to engage with clients. Best advice, pick artists that do great work and love what they do. They'll work with you. #BIGFACTSINALLCAPS #BigBronx #BXDomi

My eyebrow piercing that got embedded due to improper sizing :/
    Bianca L.

Me and my group came in a few weeks ago for piercings/tats. The tattoo artist was amazing and my experience with him was lovely! But the piercing thing became a bit of a nightmare. So i was in the downstairs area choosing my flash tattoo, I come back upstairs and see my mom got her tragus pierced, but all i see is a huge needle half-way in her ear with blood EVERYWHERE. this whole process was taking way longer than it should, about 2-3 minutes of seeing her ear a bloody mess. I have 15 piercings and know that it should not take that long. So I'm already nervous for my turn. Mind you I'm getting my lower belly button + eyebrow pierced, very sensitive areas!! The belly button is fine, but when it came to the eyebrow, he's measuring different sizes, and decides on the one he pierced me with, which to me looked a little small, but him being a professional, I was like whateva. So he pierces it and I immediately look at it and go "this looks a little short?" And he says "yeah, bc I just stuck a needle in your face. It's gonna swell" so I'm like whatever and made the mistake of not trusting my gut and inconveniencing him by asking him to resize the jewelry. So the jewelry continues to look suffocated by my eyebrow and I'm trying to convince myself it's just swelling. Tonight I look at my piercing and she's COMPLETELY embedded in my eyebrow!! I feel like sizing is something very simple and easy for a piercer to understand. Even me, looking at it knew it wasn't right!! I think it's really important for piercers to understand differing anatomy and to really care about their craft because stuff like this really really affects people's everyday lives. The piercer also told me to POP the blood blister forming on my nostril piercing. Any normal person will tell you that's the exact opposite of what you should do to any formation on ur piercing. I think he just needs to research up more on his own craft unfortunately and give better advice to people who might be too naïve to see that it's clearly wrong. !!

The last time I got a tattoo it was almost 15 years ago and the tattoo artist completely f**ked up the tattoo I wanted despite having a photo of it right in front of him. So I was a little gun-shy going in. But this was something I'd wanted to do for some time. My husband on the other hand had been here once before, about four years ago, for something small. This time around he was getting something a little more delicate behind his ear. Suffice it to say that our tattoo artist, who is also the owner, was amazing and very careful to make sure we were getting what we wanted, exactly as we wanted, before he started. Clearly, he's been doing this a long time and knows his stuff. He even gave me a few suggestions on what could be done to cover up and salvage the now faded tattoo from a decade and a half ago. Hands down a great experience. And, I'm very at ease about moving forward with having something more extensive done. I don't really know what tattoos go for ... but even if it was a tad pricier, you get what you pay for. What we got was quality work that looks good.

Me and 2 friends of mine got our tattoos done by Jay and he was amazing. He worked with our budgets and did an amazing job on the tattoos. He was super quick but he also has 30 years of experience so they came out super well done especially with fine line normally being really hard.

This is proof I called them Friday night and spoke to someone for 2 minutes.
    Roger C.

I walked by here late on a Friday night and decided to stop in to see if they were interested in modifying a tattoo I have across my lower back that covers a surgery scar similar to a tummy tuck, but just the back. I am not unhappy with the tattoo, I like it, but I have some ideas on how to improve it to further hide the scar. Plus, I have two "portal" scars right beneath it that I thought could be quickly covered with a star or something quick. The artist they had me speak with was great. We started to brainstorm and they had ideas to improve the original tattoo and embellish the tatoo to extend it down to cover the portal scars. To be honest, I didn't like the pain of getting a tattoo, so the thought of adding more didn't thrill me, but they seemed to know what they were talking about and was kind of excited about the possibilities which I found infectious. They had some other ideas to improve the tattoo as well which I figured I'd go with. We decided to get started the next day, Saturday. 6 months ago I paid $600 for the original tattoo, which took 3 sessions. I also tipped of course, so I probably paid a total of $800. I was shocked when the owner of Red Ink informed me this would cost between $600 and $800 for the touch-up. It didn't make sense to me since the labor would only be a fraction of what went into the original, so I figured this artist is going to turn this routine tatoo into a masterpiece, so I agreed, figuring it would be $600 because most places don't charge more than $200/hr for their best artists and I knew this wasn't more than 3 hours of work. How could it be?? When I got home, I realized I had committed to a fundraiser on the Hamptons given by SAGE. I pre-paid $300 for a ticket, which of course is ok since it was for charity. I had also paid for the Hamptons Jitney roundtrip. My fault. I figured I just couldn't go to the Hamptons and would get the tattoo I committed to. I remember the artist saying that Saturday or Sunday would work, so I figured I'd ask if would be ok to postpone to Sunday. I called RedInk pretty late -- around 10:30. A woman answered the phone. The artist had left for the day. I explained to her my predicament and said I would just not go to the Hamptons. She said my appointment was not yet on the books, and it would be NO PROBLEM for me to come Sunday instead. I profusely apologized and said I could cancel, but she said not to sweat it. She would tell the artist and put it in the schedule for Sunday. THE PROOF I MADE THE CALL IS ON THE ATTACHMENT TO THIS REVIEW. A 2 MINUTE CALL AT 10:43 pm. The place has two floors. One is ground level and the other subterranean. I got there around 12 Sunday and rang the bell. No answer. Rang it again. No answer. Hmmm. This didn't make sense. I went upstairs and saw people milling about! I made eye contact with a burly gentleman who I have since learned is co-owner. He looked at me, as if to acknowledge he knew I was ringing and he proceeded to drink his super-sized soda or coffee and ignored me. I went downstairs again. Rang the bell. No answer. Rang it again. No answer. I go back upstairs, see my artist and make eye contact with the co-owner. He finallyl swings open the doors and yells, "The bell didn't ring!" Huh? If the bell didn't ring, YOUR system isn't working correctly. Why would I stand downstairs and not ring the bell? That makes no sense, but that seems to be what he was arguing with me about. So, I went downstairs again. The artist met me at the door and I could tell he was perturbed. The woman never told him I rescheduled! I apologized profusely. He had waited for me all Saturday. But she told me she was going to leave a note and make sure he knew. She was even there on Saturday and said nothing to him about it. He understood and told me to come back at 5. I called at 3 to make sure we were still on. The woman who answered the phone said, "yes, he is here at 5." I asked her to make sure he was on schedule. I wanted to make sure we were aligned. I don't think she asked him what I told her to, because she came back with, "yes, he is here at 5." So, I get there at 5ish and he tells me the owners want $900! I am sure there is no reason for me to finish this review. I dodged a bullet is all I can say.

Tattoo i wanted vs. what i got for $120

This is just an honest review, no anger or anything my appt was weeks ago. i don't do this much, but its important to let people know what they're in for. My girlfriend and i went in for little shark fin tattoos. The pictures are of what we wanted vs. what we got. Now, apart from the tattoo itself, which.. speaks for itself. (mind you i have 5 tiny tattoos, i've taken care of all of them while healing, zero came out anything like this.) Now, onto my experience in the shop as a whole. Firstly, the artist was very nice, but lacked confidence. Secondly, about 5 minutes into the tattoo, the owner came in and the ENTIRE VIBE changed. He's an incredibly loud, unprofessional, middle age, overweight billy idol wannabe. It was his birthday, he was drinking wine (at noon) and almost started a fire while he burned multiple incense at once that he soon forgot about. He constantly swore, made sexually charged remarks to everyone trying to get attention, and kept complaining about a woman he's been dating for 3 months. After that, he was complaining about another yelp review that said his sexual remarks made her feel unsafe and he was laughing about it while making more and more sexual remarks to every person in the shop (male, female, etc.) it was honestly wild and a bit cringey. i felt bad for him to be honest, but i felt worse for his staff.

    Cover up tattoo

Redink is THE place to go for all of your "cover up" needs. I needed a name covered because my soon to be husband told me I needed to get this other man's name off my body before we marry and I was NERVOUS. When I walked in the ladies at the front are super welcoming and everyone is hilarious, kind, and patient. My artist was Matias and he is the most gentle with nervous wrecks. He changed his technique to adjust to me being a baby and whining and flinching the whole time. I seriously gave him a hard time- but not on purpose. Thank you Matias- I'll be back for my next tattoo.

The workers are really funny and the service is nice, if you come in for a tat they're not judgy and they listen. Never went for a piercing but based off observation they're very gentle and they talk you through it for first timers!!

Where they say me to get tattooed
    Liv B.

PLEASE READ! Do NOT go here. I've been getting tattooed for over 17 yrs and there are just some things you have to draw the line on. On this day, I had 6 fresh tattoos healing because I had just gotten work done earlier in the week, elsewhere. I'm not a novice here. 1. The flyer I saw for the event did not state cash only, but no big deal, my bank wasn't far. Upon coming back, some blonde man, yelled at me from down the block to light a fire under my ass. 2. They list price options as $50, $90, $160, $249. I can only describe the pricing experience as haggling. The shop boy trying to convince customers to lose details in their tattoos, shrink it down, make it bigger to make it more expensive. He told me that my outline tattoo, on a normal day would cost double. No, it wouldn't. He also tried to tell me, that because there were numbers in my tattoo, it would be considered 2 tattoos. 3. While waiting, the blonde man called a man who was waiting and asked to see his design, which I believe was a lion's head and crown. Blonde man asked his budget and when the man answered he responded "WHAT?! If I bring this in there, they're gonna kill me for that price. Can you make it $300?" Which wasn't even listed on the flash list. He then took the image and walked into the room yelling out loud asking if any of the artists WANTED to do the tattoo? Very loudly, "LION and A CROWN ANYBODY? NOBODY? YOU DON'T HAVE TO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO." An artist followed him out to talk with the client and the entire time the artist was trying to explain why the image needed to be tattooed larger, he was hovering over their shoulders, pointing and cutting in. 4. When booking the appointment, an artist is assigned to you with the appointment time. My artist assigned was named Edgar, whose work I looked through to ensure I would be comfortable with. This was NOT the artist given to me when I arrived. 5. She led my wife and I downstairs to a very springy old couch where we could wait for her to make the stencil. I'll insert photos of where we were sat. I then realized this is where she intended to tattoo me as there was a small tray set up. I did not see a box of gloves, I did not see ink, I did not see plastic wrap, I did not see alcohol any cleaning supplies really. No bandages, gauze, anything. It was clear that this was not the space where tattoos should be done. 6. The artist tried to convince me to change the location of my tattoo to my arm, because the chair that I was supposed to be sat in was a worn out cracked leather OLD OFFICE CHAIR. There was not a tattoo chair. Just an old office chair, fold out chair, armrest and a tray I did not get to see my artist set up. The area I wanted tattooed was a flat blank area inside my calf. I no longer felt comfortable getting tattooed here for fear of cleanliness. I did not sign up for a basement tattoo by an artist who didn't even seem confident in speaking to me. 7. I didn't want to cause a scene and deter anyone else's experience, so I went back upstairs and walked up to my artist and asked her what I could do if I changed my mind. She was automatically confused. Blonde man was near and loudly asked me what was going on. I informed him that I changed my mind on getting a tattoo and no longer wanted to sit. He loudly asked why. Still remaining low toned I tried to explain that I didn't feel comfortable with the setup. He automatically answered "WE'LL GET YOU ANOTHER ARTIST THEN" which bothered me, because I said nothing to him about the artist, who was still standing there. Repeatedly he asked me why I didn't wanna get tattooed and was raising his voice about it and arguing back insinuating I didn't want the artist. I eventually disregarded him and turned to the artist and told her "This has nothing to do with you as an artist or as a person. It is about the shop and the set up and this. I don't feel comfortable getting tattooed here." And she understood, although she seemed nervous since the beginning, but we smiled at each other. Then I hear "FINE!!" cash shuffling and he handed me back my money. It shouldn't have been an argument for simply changing my mind. I never even saw the main room. The entire vibe, hearing how the owner spoke to potential customers, hearing and experiencing them trying to convince the customers to change their work, and for what? The place wasn't filled with people, there wasn't a line out the door, there was no crowd. I would never in my life ever let anyone take a needle to my skin or even place a stencil.

They really couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. I was assisted by Carlos who was cool as heck. I appreciate the fact that Carlos told me up front that the color in my tattoo would not come out (I have a 28 y.o. Nefertiti tat. Her crown is shaded in blue and there's also some red and green in her necklace). They could easily get the black ink out, but with the colors, the laser wouldn't be able to differentiate between the ink colors and my glorious melanin. So the laser might remove all of the color, including my glorious melanin, and leave me with a pale spot there (hypopigmentation). There's also be a possibility that the skin in that area would darken (hyperpigmentation). Carlos told me of a Complete Removal package for $1,790 where you go back every eight weeks (to give your skin time to heal in between treatments) until your tat is completely gone. I was also told of a $690 package...that I wasn't too interested in because, initially, I was going to take the Complete Removal package. Another Yelper has mentioned in their review of Removary that if the whole $1,790 is not used, you will be refunded the unused portion, which sounds awesome. I've decided to keep Queen Nefertiti with me. I came to that decision after watching videos of people with skin like mine share their stories. Before going in, I thought tattoo removal would be the same for all. If you Google, you'll see a lot of pics of tats completely removed from white skin with just a couple of Black folks sprinkled in. There's a reason for that. And the tats removed from Black skin are all black ink tats. If you're white, they can completely remove your tat; black AND colored ink. If you're Black, they can get black ink outta ya, but colored ink, not so much. There are a couple of videos on You Tube where Black gals have shared their tattoo removal stories. One in particular is very detailed and provides before and after photos. Here's the link.. https://youtu.be/g6vKaVDygi8 OH! I have to mention... There are a couple of videos on You Tube mentioning the PiQo4 and PicoSure lasers to completely remove tats from Black skin. However, those videos only make the claim. They do not show the results. After my consultation with Removary, I'd had another consultation at Disappearing Inc. Just for a consultation, they required a credit card number (if you cancel within 24 hrs, they charge you $50 for a weekday appt and $100 for a Saturday appt.) Once I was there, they also asked for I.D. When I asked what that was about, they gave me two excuses. Excuse #1: "it's for insurance purposes. We need to make sure the person who did their paperwork is the same as the one being treated." Do they really have THAT many people lying about who they are? Excuse #2: "It's just standard protocol because some choose to be treated during (the consultation)." Ok, but I never asked to be treated during mine.... Anywho, I prefer Removary because I didn't feel they were trying to bulls**t me. Nor were they condescending... Whoa, instead of talking about my dissapointing Disappearing Inc. experience here, lemme mosey on over to their page and leave it there. Anywho, if I had a recommend a tat removal spot, it would, hands down, be Removary!

I visited Disappearing Ink back in March for a consultation. The vibe was... Ok, I'ma be honest and…read moretell ya how I really feel... I wouldn't be surprised if the two people I'd met with were... (I feel my inner Libran diplomat wanting to sugar coat and simply say...) not comfortable around Black people. Have y'all read Carolyn F's review? I got the same vibe as that sister. So, the girl didn't feel comfortable in a room alone with me during the consultation, so a male co-worker joined and watched me like a hawk. I'd had an earlier consultation at Removary and they'd mentioned the difficulty removing colored ink from melanated skin (if it comes out at all). I asked about that while at DI. They concurred. They brought out a book with examples of their work. All colors of ink can be removed from pale skin. With melanated skin, the laser may not be able to distinguish between the ink and the melanin and remove all the color leaving you with pale patches. That said, I asked if they could show. Me. Results. On. People. Who. Look. Like. MEEEEEEEEEE. Like, lemme see the results on Black folks, mang! All I'm seeing in this book are non-melanated folks who've had their tats completely removed. This is a waste of time...unless they think I might refer any non-melanated folks I know who want to have a tat removed to them (I'm not). At one point, male co-worker says to me, "but YOU're not going to get those results...", dripping with condescension. To which I replied, "and that's why I'm waiting to see someone in that book who looks like ME." As gal showed me their price chart, I asked if I could take pix. Their price charts are laminated. One of the photos that I'd taken had glare from the light above. When I mentioned it, male co-worker looks up as if to say, "glare from what?" The glare is visible in my pics. They ask for credit card info before you can make your consultation appointment so they can charge you if you cancel within 24 hours (Removary didn't do that, but...) Several places do that. I get it. While I was there, they asked to see my I.D. That was naggin' at me, so I later asked what that was about, I got two different answers. One, "it's for insurance purposes. We need to make sure the person who did their paperwork is the same as the one being treated!" (Yes, you must fill out paperwork for a consultation) I replied that I was only there for a consultation and at no point, did I ask to be treated during. Ugh. Then I got answer #2, "it's just standard protocol to ask during the consultation because some do choose to be treated during!" Again, at no point did I ask to be treated. Anywho, when the consultation was over, the guy was all friendly. He was happy to see my black a$$ leave, lol. I was happy to leave and matched his enthusiasm. So, here on the marvelous Yelp, you have two Black folks, Carolyn F and myself, lettin' fam know that you're gonna get some juicy negative vibes if you go to Disappearing Ink. So, don't. I highly and high-key don't recommend. The vibe at Removary was much more welcoming, inviting, amiable, down to earth (don't let the fancy Park Ave address fool or deter you)... Removary was just all-around cooler.

I can not believe how easy it was to start my eyebrow tattoo removal process…read more Storytime: I made a mistake and got my eyebrows tattooed almost 10 years ago. I was promised that they would completely fade within 2 years. They never faded and in fact they started to turn a blue ish grey color. To have this corrected, I had my eyebrows microbladed twice in hopes to cover up the mess that was previously done by the first tattoo. I got fed up and started researching different procedures such as the Lift method (saline microblading) and was told that I wouldn't qualify since the tattoo was so old. That person pointed me in the direction of Pico sure laser. I began searching online and found Disappearing Inc. Solution: I booked an appointment online and met with Darcy. She is very meticulous and knowledgeable-she takes her time to go over the entire process in details. Darcy is very welcoming and answered all my questions. The entire time she made sure I was comfortable and informed. The whole process was completed in a matter of minutes. Darcy took time and explained to me the after care procedure as well. My only regret is not coming here sooner. I already booked my second appointment and look forward to working with Darcy again.
