One might have to pay a bit of attention to find this place, as in the visually clamorous surroundings of Camden High Street the sign reading 'Redemption records downstairs' can tend to get a little lost. However, if you're into that sort of thing, it's certainly worth the finding. In the basement under one of the nameless hat-and-shoes-and-drug paraphernalia shops that litter the area, it's split into two sections which I am unsure as to the relationship between. One is a clothing store, selling many pretty clothes of the black velvet and lace goth variety. Fairly cheap, as these places go, and worth a look if you're after something gratuitously black.
The other sells CDs. The range is fairly wide given how tiny the shop is, covering most of the 'alternative' stuff you're unlikely to get in Virgin or HMV; little-known European black metal bands, very specific flavours of electronic music, and the like. There is a useful board behind the counter detailing discounts, flyers advertising bands, and that sort of thing. It is also notably cheaper than high-street shops. In all, I would certainly suggest you check it out. read more
