This church is okay. I plan on going again to give it another shot sometime.
They have two services. A 9am and 10am one. I went to the second service, and it seemed like the first one is what people tend to go to more...especially since most are CBU students who go and eat Sunday brunch right after.
The parking is pretty hard to find at first, but you find your way around. Walking in, lots of people fellowshipping, (primarily students who know one another). It's somewhat a challenge to get to know someone if you don't already know them or are a young looking student.
Since I went to 10am service, seemed to go on longer than the first one. This service was spiritually dead, I couldn't feel the Holy Spirit. The music was good and mellow, suiting for their venue. People were welcoming, that's for sure, but when it came to prayer or other things, it was lacking.
They do the Apostle's Creed and among other things, pray of some sort of cards that they read. Which I'm not saying is bad or good, just pointing it out.
I don't know if I saw the main pastor or not, but it was an in depth study on Mark. Not a good place for some new to Christianity to really attend because it seems like they don't expect it. The study honestly didn't give much insight, and the way the pastor explained it, everyone was sighing, people were getting up throughout service, constantly looking at phones...not caring what he said. It was really sad.
I expected more from this church, and even if it's just the second service that's like that, the fact that it even IS like that is still disappointing.
I hope this church seeks the Lord enough to be able to hear these things. Otherwise, the people are nice and kind, but there's so much lacking more than just "every church missing something." read more
