I've been to Redd's a few times to have my hair cut, and have always been pleased with the results; I had actually submitted a good review for the place on Yelp a while back, which has been deemed "not recommended", whatever that means. Unfortunately my last visit will be just that - my last.
I booked in for my usual dry cut, and didn't specify which hairdresser I wanted - largely because I'm not all that fussed, and also because I can never remember names. I'd never had a bad experience there and have had my hair cut by a couple of different people, so it's not usually a big deal for me.
On arrival, I was greeted by a girl I had never seen at Redds before. She was pleasant enough, and it turned out that she was given the task of cutting my hair. Fair enough, new member of staff. She asked what I wanted, and I explained what I usually had, in the same manner I have on my previous visits. Bish, bash, bosh, my hair was cut in about five minutes. Bit quicker than normal, but I only ever have the ends taken off, the layers cut back in and the side-swept fringe tidied up. I paid up and tipped £4 as usual, and off I went.
I was going out that evening, so when I got home I washed, dried and straightened my hair - and that's where the problems began. My fringe, was now a wedge with some random wispy bits. The layers were now a shelf. It's like she had no idea what I asked for, and even less of an idea what to do with hair in general. My Husband is a barber, and I've had to get him to tidy up the fringe because it was an absolute mess. He won't touch the layers because they're just ridiculous, and I'm now going to have to search for a new hairdressers.
Overall Redds is fine, but if you have a usual member of staff I suggest you stick to them because this girl has no idea what she's doing. read more
