We went specifically to get a plum tree. We got a lovely shaped specimen and were given good advice about planting and pruning. The chap we were speaking to also recommended a couple of jasmines and we bought a few annuals too. He kindly tied up the tree and helped us into the car with it. The creepers and tree have really taken hold in our garden, thanks to the good advice, and are growing nicely this year. We're hoping to make another trip out to Thompsons later this summer.

Plants are always of excellent quality (which sometime you pay for), and are arranged in an way that is intuitive to navigate by type or planting aspect as appropriate. Either way my last few visits have been far more pleasant.) The range of plants is excellent for such a small centre and if they don't have it, they can normally source it for you. There's a nice selection of pots and garden ornaments too, and I recently purchased some stone chippings through them, which was delivered for a pretty cheap fee and by a really pleasant gentleman. This isn't the cheapest place to buy garden stuff but the quality is always exceptional and definitely worth coming back to for that.

They have a massive selection of ornamental and fruit trees as well as roses. They also sell all the usual bedding plants, beautiful hanging baskets, pots, compost, garden ornaments and tools for the garden. Apparently a lot of their shrubs and plants are grown at Abercorn. I was told this by a member of staff who was most helpful and friendly and gave me tips about my soil and what I could and could not grow. There is a play area for children so they can enjoy themselves while you are free to look around.

They stopped making sandwiches to order, we and others regulars miss these. The staff have always looked like they hate being there and resent customers for having the affront to want serving either cakes and food! We won't bother going there anymore, only for gardening stuff of which there is an endless choice. They certainly need some customer service skills teaching them, we are not something you tread in when you take your dog out!

The garden centre itself stocks a huge range of plants, and garden accessories including lots of the more unusual type of plants. The prices can be a bit steep but then they always are in garden centres, they do sell a range of garden equipment to suit all budgets though. Inside there is a large section for gifts and there is a coffe bar/cafe.
